  • We frothed Almond Milk with a hand frother. Watch the results! Using Almond Milk in lattes and cappuccinos to make almond milk froth, and almond milk foam, has become popular. We tested almond milk using a hand held frother to see how well it froths and what type of foam almond milk produces for lattes and cappuccinos. The results of this almond milk frothing and foam test may surprise you! We used Almond Breeze milk in this frothing demonstration, but Silk Almond milk is also very popular. Almond Milk and coffee is a big hit around the world, serving as an alternative to regular milk.

    Can’t believe I found the exact video I was looking for. I use the same exact almond milk brand. You really can find anything on UA-cam 😄👍🏻

      That's awesome! I'm glad you connected and found the exact almond milk you were looking for. Frothing your almond milk will allow you to taste it in a whole other way as it's basically being consumed in a different state of matter than you're used to (re: the froth). Enjoy and thanks for the comment.

    If you use 1/32 teaspoon of xanthan gum, you can froth just about any kind of milk in about 20 seconds. Use less milk, though. It will cause it all to turn into froth, not just the top portion. I use store brand almond or cashew milk.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому +1

      That's a cool trick, for frothing almond milk or other milks, but the idea of measuring out exactly 1/32 of a teaspoon each morning seems unbearable LOL! It sounds like too much can have an interesting effect. Anyway, thanks sharing the tip. P.S. I've seen xanthan gum on commercial product ingredients, but I've never heard/seen it in a "household/consumer" recipe.

    Have you tried hazelnut milk? I couldn’t get mine to froth - rather I could, but the bubbles merged and dissipated quickly

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +3

      Haven't tried frothing hazelnut milk, but I have a few thoughts for you: Two of the things that may affect the ability to froth the milk you're using are its water content and fat content. Unfortunately, they rarely state the exact percentages of water. But more water= no bueno. The fat content should, however, be easier to compare to say normal Silk almond milk or Almond Breeze brand. Higher fat is better. Finally, try heating the hazelnut milk a bit more than you currently are. Even regular dairy milk will not froth well if it's not hot enough. If it ends up working, please come back and share the positive results as I'm sure there are others out there using hazelnut milk. Thanks and good luck!

    Can you drop some recommendations what's the best milk for beginner frothing

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +2

      Outside of regular dairy milk, the best almond milk for frothing is probably Silk Almond Milk. Almond Breeze works well and some people like Oatly. Obviously I haven't tried every almond milk out there, but the idea is to look for a higher fat content and a lower ratio of water to almonds. If you're open to it, you can also try oat milk (I have a video comparing oat milk to almond milk if you haven't seen it already). Oat milk tends to be creamier and "thicker" than almond milk and therefore tends to froth up a bit better and arguably creates the desired physical (i.e. texture) that's often desirous in a cappuccino or latte. No matter what type of milk you are using- dairy, almond, or oat, one of the most important things is heating the milk up to the proper temperature. The next or perhaps equally important is the technique. I have a video on how to froth up milk with a hand frother if you haven't seen yet that is quite helpful. In the comment section of that video you'll quickly learn/see how important one's hand frothing technique is. Happy Frothing!

    Will it work for almond milk of another brand? I use RAW. Do they have different fat content? I heard that it’s important factor for frothing.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому +1

      You are correct in that not all brands of almond milk froth up the same. Almond milk has a lot of water content which doesn't help the cause. So especially in the case of almond milk, the brands with more fat will likely froth better. Regardless of which brand you choose, make sure you heat your almond milk to the right temperature for frothing and make sure you have your hand-frothing technique down. I have some other videos on this channel that you may find helpful including an instructional one as well as almond milk vs. oat milk comparison, etc.

    I have tried 3 times now and get nothing. Maybe I am not heating enough.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +12

      As I agree... heat is relative.. try this as a starting point... heat the milk so that it's hot enough, to the point where you can not leave your finger in it. If you touch the milk, it should be very hot- too hot to hold it in. You can start off making it as hot as the coffee will be (so whatever device you're using i.e. microwave... experiment until you get the milk the same temperature as when the coffee comes out of the machine if you use drip or espresso). You can work backward (after you get the frothing results you want) in terms of temperature, to find the optimal temperature for your personal preference if you think it's initially too hot. Note: if a "skin" forms on the milk, you've heated it too much/for too long. Start will smaller increments i.e. 20-30 seconds at a time if you're using a microwave, and you'll figure out the total time it takes to create the temperature described above. Also, there are two other videos on this channel you can view that show different angles/styles of frothing (in case temperature isn't the issue). Let us know how it goes... If none of the above work, come back and we'll figure it out. Despite the "magic show" music in one of the videos, it really does work. Don't get discouraged, it's worth it! It has the potential to bring you some extra joy each morning. If the tips work, come back and let us know you got it...you might give some hope to others struggling with the perfect froth :-) Enjoy!

    My frother just died!
    I tried with handheld whipping tool didn't work.
    Can I use immersion blender?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      Yea, not surprised by the whipping tool. Sorry to hear about your frother dying. The problem with the immersion blender (besides the size of the mouth/blade area) is the fact that it uses a blade vs. a whisk. They don't produce the same results. If you try it, you'll need a tall, wide glass so you don't splash almond milk or whatever milk you're using all over the place. Immersion blenders tend to be way more powerful versus hand frothers. You'll see some action and results that are perhaps better than nothing, but it's not a long term solution. I'd order a new hand frother and over the next few days, until you receive your new frother, just heat up your milk to a very high heat and stir fairly rigorously. The idea isn't to replicate the froth for a latte or cappuccino, but rather to enjoy your coffee or espresso with a hot, thicker than normal milk, and buy you some time until your new frother arrives. A bit of variety and change isn't always a bad thing, and if if nothing else, you'll look forward to your new hand frother arriving that much more, and appreciate it once it does.

      Interesting. I recently saw oat milk on the shelf at the grocery store (which seemed like a new thing to me). Outside of taste, are there any nutritional benefits over almond milk or other plant based milks? It would be interesting to see if oat milk froths up as well as almond milk. @@efficientway The pro really comes from the environmental effect -- oat milk takes so much less water/work to make. Almond is one of the highest impact non-dairy milks because of how much water almonds require to grow. Oat milk also tastes great!
