I'm in Northern Virginia and I normally shop at Global Foods and Fresh World, both of which are international grocery stores. Come up to NOVA to go grocery shopping and stock up!!! 😀 Much cheaper than the American stores, too!
American cheese is pasteurized cheddar, emulsified with milk. Nothing crazy or scary about it. Boars head American cheese ingredients: American Cheese (Milk, Salt, Cheese Culture, Enzymes), Water, Cream, Sodium Phosphates, Paprika, Annatto, Salt.
This recipe looks amazing Rossana but am not sure what you mean by 10 ounces of grated American cheese. Are you speaking of Velveeta or a mild cheddar or colby cheese? The only American cheese that I'm familiar with is processed and sold in slices. I've never seen processed American cheese sold in our local grocery stores in blocks, unless you're referring to Velveeta.
Hi there, I used the brand boars head American cheese found at my local deli. The section of the store where they slice the cheese per order. I simply asked for the block needed instead of slices. Hope this helps.
