I got the cookbook for Christmas. I have made 4 recipes out of it. I have made them so many times that I don’t need to refer to the book for those 4. Time to make new dishes.

Due to the difficulty of getting decent short ribs in the UK, I have been making something similar based on Aaron’s original recipe. So I was really happy to see this and it will help make my adapted dish much better!
If you have a pressure cooker/instant pot, I’ve found that cooking the beef for 20 mins, then add your veg in for a further 10 mins, on a high pressure cooker setting, gives you really tender, falling apart beef! Thanks Aaron&Claire, love your recipes so much ❤

Yes..also daikon hard to get..so I’ve used turnip instead..I have to be rather low carb ( health reasons) so probably make cauliflower mash instead..and braising steak for the beef..swede for the carrot..

Oh my God Aaron!! you won't believe it. For last2 days I was looking for a good galbijim recipe on youtube. This Friday lunch, me and my work friend exchanged our lunches. She said she will make galbijim and that was my first time listening the name of this dish. That's why I was looking for it and couldn't find it in your channel. And you just uploaded this recipe yesterday!! like what a coincident!!

That looks so delicious! I will add this to my "want to make" recipe list! I love both daikon radishes and carrots cooked for a long time in flavorful liquids. My go-to soup when I do not feel well is my own version of a mish-mash Hot and Sour soup. I ALWAYS include a lot of daikon and carrot as well as onions and peppers, I use gochujang instead of dried chili flakes, I add miso and chicken stock paste (I've gotten the suggestion to add some dashi next time as well), and it is a glorious fusion of flavors. But those daikon are really my absolute favorite thing in there. They cook for all 4-8 hours, they become super tender, a little sweet, but they've absorbed so much of the broth and the flavors of the soup, that they are just next level. When I started adding them to the soup, I was adding maybe an inch or two of daikon radish, cut into pieces. Now I usually add half of a large daikon.

I have some pureed asian pear in my freezer left over from another recipe.
Can I just use that instead of the apple? Put it in with onions?
    Thanks!

Short ribs are so expensive now in the US! They used to be much cheaper, but then people realized how delicious they are and the price went bonkers. I still make red wine short ribs now and then, but I more often make Julia Child’s beef bourguignon more often because it uses cheaper cuts.
This is definitely an interesting mashup of 2 very different dishes from 2 very different cuisines. There’s a lot to love in Aaron’s recipe, but I’ll skip the peppers. For me, they just don’t belong with the other flavors, but that’s just a personal preference thing. I think it’ll be a fun recipe to make on the weekend and to compare with the original dishes.

Hi Aaron, beautiful. Really good. If you make it in a restaurant then thin the potato a little more with milk and butter. Add a little Maggi or MSG powder, then pipe the potato onto the plate. You can choose your design. You can make a much better presentation. Hope that helps. Michelin Star on the way! Joking, your recipes are excellent. I watch your vids and have your book which is brilliant too!

I was a bit disappointed with this one. It came out far too sweet, even though I eliminated the sugar but kept the corn syrup, and the dominant flavour was soy.
