they really didn't hit this part of the country to often, however they did like a 5 show over the new year (2022) two shows in Chicago, two shows in Austin , Texas and one out in California.!!
The album track fades off into the sunset, beautifully....how to end it live? Seems like a lost opportunity, something special,..but it just....ends. love it anyway!
Bryan should have started off with Happy Birthday to Phil. We'd have all sung our little hearts out. What a great guitarist he is, and still with us, unlike poor Gary Moore, gone at 58. Come on Bryan, lets get one great Roxy album out before you all peg it!
I would absolutely love to see a Roxy Music tour again here in the states and would travel to see them multiple times. I highly recommend the "Live At The Apollo" DVD and if "Avalon" doesn't bring a tear (or 2) to your eyes you probably have the sound muted...
Big Country did cover it, look around on YT. They get an A for effort and having good taste but a C or D for execution. Prairie Rose is low enough to still be within BF's range, he doesn't have to rely on the backup singers to help carry the lead. Andy and Phil acquit themselves wonderfully. Hope RM come to the U.S. one more time. Like Seattle, not that I wouldn't go to Vancouver B.C. again to see them as in '01.
@dbekken Happy belated birthday, Phil.. . shoud I find retail crumbling cosmetics, they shall, in stages, find you in Peru. Fuckin A from Chicago brother!!
Nice to see a live version of this song. The only thing wrong are the Texas motifs appearing in the background. Whoever put this together has the mistaken belief that the tall saguaro cactus are typical Old-West icons to be encountered here. They're not. Only in Arizona-California-Mexico desert area. Just sayin'.
I wished we'd sang happy birthday to Phil, but how do you get 13000 people to sing it I wish Bryan would have started us off. I can't believe these guys are in their 60s. Blimey, this might be the last time we see them! Poor Gary Moore pegged it at 58. What a great track this is.
Greg Ruch + As one who has seen Big Country live and still misses Stuart, you are dead wrong here. To parrot a fellow commenter here : A for effort D for execution.
This song always gives me goosebumps, something about the harmonies and chord progressions, every time. Nice to see it live, cheers!
I regret never having the chance to pay homage to their greatness at a live show. Fortunately I know what a great, great band they are.

My favorite Roxy song, a love song to Texas!
Fell in love with the band first time I heard this song 😁✌️

in the top 5 of Roxy... deadly good !
Thankyou Mr Mackay..for all those riffs
McKay is just brilliant !
This, one of their best songs, embodies all that is great about this band.

love it anyway!
Ooh, one more recording definitely for my pleasure, thank you! (Why do you say it’s shaky? It’s okay!)

Great sound. Thanx for posting.
lived in Texas once ! Love You Roxy
Me too... in Austin, working at Dell HQ.. Had a great time there...
Along with "To Turn You On", one of Roxy's best songs that never got the recognition it deserved. Great live version.
You know absolutely nothing about this band then!
I can't be-FUCKING-lieve it! My favorite RM song!
Just got tickets to the 2022 tour stop in Dallas. I hope they pull this song out for that show.

What a great track this is.
2:28....nice shot of some fuckers head instead of Phil on his epic solo!...Worst seating I ever saw, I'd get my fucking money back!!
@20pst ain't nothing happening that wasn't Bryan Ferry's idea
God Bless Detroit!!!
Big country never covered it
OK, but Big Country did it better.
Get that other sax player off the stage...…..VIVA EDDIE RIFFF!
Keith MacKenzie-Ingle ..sorry sir, but that other saxophonist is none other than Candy Dulfer. No ther sax player can top her.
Actually it's jorja chalmers!
Big Country's version is much much better.
