Interesting. What do you think of eccentric contraction stretching (which can lengthen muscle fibres and sarcomeres in the long run) to lengthen muscles tied into the pelvic structure? There's a lot of buzz around Dynamic Contraction Training which uses this to help pelvic pain

Hi Robert. Yup, totally agree. "Dynamic Contraction Training" sounds a lot like "proprioceptive Neurmouscular Facilitation" - what I learnt back at uni. These things come around again and get rebranded. The evidence shows that if you want to stretch/lengthen a muscle you need to involve some contraction first, and specifically in the pelvic floor with pain states. I think this is because it's important to get some brainy connection to an area with poor proprioceptive understanding to begin with. Are you using it?

@@jillybond1502 I have been using DCT for about a month now, and it is working for me. There is a book by Bob Cooley called "The Genius Of Flexibility" that I have been working out of that has this "resistance technique", and I am seeing good progress. It is very hard work, but it is working for me. Accomplished more with this in one month than I did doing static stretching exercises with a physical therapist for several months, which did nothing. Just my two cents Jilly.
