  • This customer has been avoiding me and not paying his invoices, so I had to track him down and threaten to fill court papers to sue him unless he pays!
Also made a contract for new customer’s soI won’t have to go through this again !
    Hopefully! Lol

Some people's words are worthless these days , a man should always hold he's end of the deal, word is bond that's how you build good relationships.

Smart MAN!! Those dirty rats!! You've got to deal with them.. Get em!!

Good that you got paid, definitely sucks to take a pay cut, but hopefully that negotiation just ends that relationship between you and that company and you can move on to bigger and better things.

Yeah I figured losing 600$ is better than losing 3100$ but still sucks to to deal with this guy!
At least its done now ,won't be working with him again.

Well said!! It's upsetting when you go out of your way to help people out, and they go out of their way NOT to pay you for any of the work you did so cheaply for them.

What's funny is in my experience of owning a mobile repair business, it's always the ones that you help and do free favors for that will give you the most hassle. That's got me screwed so many times since I've started my business.

yeah no good deed goes unpunished is what an old friend used to tell me .
      and its almost always true

Looks like you handled this the best way possible. Each time Steve spoke he was going round in circles.
In the end you came out as the honest person. As you mentioned use this as a learning lesson. Any time you work on abused equipment I’ve found it’s best to show the customer how it’s working at the end of the repair and explain what’s still wrong like the rodent damage. But they forget quickly.
All you can now do is be thankful you don’t have to ever go there again and that’s a real win.

finally done with this customer ,
I used to take it personal but figured out its just a tactic he uses to get labor cheap ,
but am happy to be done with it !Thanks for the great advice !
I need to make it a point to show the customers the finished repair.

Wow. Ya I always feel bad or guilty for charging people. I want to make money but walking that fine line between charging too much and being fair is where I’m struggling.

We all know these people. Sad because most people are professional and cool. That contract is boilerplate and standard, should be easy for clients to easily accept.

Man I don't miss this shit! I was in trucking/excavating/construction business for 20 years. I can write a book on excuses given for not paying on time. Fortunately, I didn't lose much over that time. Good luck! Now I get a direct deposit every week and I'm careful about my side hustle.

Yeah its the one part of working foe myself that I didn't foresee and probably the worst part of it,
Having to fight for your paycheck after you've already done the work is really frustrating!
