- Rainy day update on my service crane, and couple stories about customers I’ve delt with in the past and their tactics to get money off their bill , don’t fall for it !
I did and it cost me a lot of money!
And sanity!
Hope this helps someone out there!
I am picking up what you are putting down. Thank you for bringing us along
Thanks for watching John!
Thank you
I feel for this one.... I've had plenty of people try shit like this. It's side work for me, extra cash. If they don't wanna pay the price cya later
Sup MCF!
The truck is looking great man !
Yeah im full timing it ,and it makes it so I take a lot of jobs I probably shouldn't
you are absolutely right i have run into every thing you just described and told them to move on. there is always more work for someone who is willing to do it.
always more work and better customers!, thanks for watching Johnbyram!
Whenever they come like that I learned over the yrs to tell them I'll call you when I have some spare time just this weekend I told an old crook to go something unthinkable to himself he kept pushing and I lost the limited cool I got
Yeah Ive used that one also the "ill call you when I get some free time" LOL
ive lost my cool plenty of times also ,There are some real winners out there, especially when you run a mechanics business
Sorry for the double post but thanks for that. Man.
no worries AJ’s Iron Works !
I will send out you stickers in the next couple days
@@happybleeding do you have Instagram or Facebook?
no I need to get one ,
I dont have any social media ,
especially for welding projects and fabrication
@@happybleeding when you do I’m under the same name. Look me up
@@happybleeding that’s all I usually post
Is what I build and starting my side hustle
Thats what i have encountered and I had to stand my ground. I got bills to pay and it isnt cheap to run my mobile van. I also get customers who want to buy their own parts cheaper somewhere other than my parts supplier so I tell them i will not warranty parts not purchased through my supplier. The reason i do that is because when there is a warranty issue, my supplier reimburses me my labor rate because i have an account setup with them for that. Customers need to understand that price is not just for parts but for future issues incase anything happens.
Thats a great point
@abramsmobileautorepair7828
Ive had the same conversation with some of my customers , just need to explain it to them ,if they still want to get parts elsewhere , dont take the job
Can you do a video on just the business end of things?
@clay2431 Thanks for watching!
I will do a video on the Business side ,
What exactly are you wanting to know , I will do my best to get you as much info as possible.
@@happybleeding any and all info on the business end would be great. I’m a welder in Alberta Canada been welding for 17 years and have always wanted to rig up a truck and be on my own. I’ve got a Lincoln 350g and all the tools I need and I’m hopefully going to get a truck next spring/summer. I have no knowledge of how to get started with the llc, insurance, accounting etc. And the business end of it is what scares me a little and has really held me back from doing it for the last 5-6 years.
@@happybleeding also stuff like things you can write off and things you can’t write off and things you can use your company account to pay for and things you can’t.
Hey Clay ,
I will do a vid on this topic ,
you can just start working , you dont need a business lic (at least here in California ), you just need insurance and to pay taxes , its called a sole proprietor , and you just need a separate account for the business so the taxes are easier , you can write of anything you use for the business /gas/ vehicle/parts /consumables/uniforms/advertising,
to write off a vehicle it must only be used for the business and must be bought for the business ,
you've got the talent and experience !
thats really the important things you need !
the rest will fall into place !
Do you know who manufactured the building? The one you’re bidding on?
Its an Armstrong steel building
Good info, thanks for sharing it. When you talk about signing a contract, does it mainly include your hourly rate and when payment is due? Any input on the contract side of it would be very helpful. Thanks
Sup @Chevota22 !
The contract is basically your hourly rate and price per mile/parts mark up,
also the collection process if they pay late or dont pay, its also good to have a spot for their driver license #, and a credit card ,and each of you get a copy ,
I will do a video on it soon!
Thanks for the great question!
@@happybleedingok, thanks for explaining that. I appreciate it. Look forward to seeing the video
Had a job to do security grates for windows at a barbershop i had my own idea as making the whole piece for each window a single piece and customer wanted it his way by adding each picket individually so i did it his way then when someone pointed out that it was wrong , i’d then be the one who was blamed at, it’s best to know the right way and if they don’t want it how it is then better to not work on it
Ive made that same mistake and it always comes back to bite me!
People pretend to be poor, in reality they are cheapskates. This culture exists everywhere in America. America also has a history of fighting against it. Henry Ford (actually mostly fought against labor) decided to overpay at $5/day, what happened? quality and efficiency went way up.
That s a great point tw t!
when people are taken care of they want to go the extra mile!
Some of the cheapest customers Ive encounters were literally billionaires ?
I never understood it?
I had one guy wearing $5000 shoes , complaining about a $300 bill for welding!Lol
I am struggling hard with my videos. I don't know how put videos together etc. I working on video but if I don't figure it out be many different videos. I hate that
Hey Chris !
Its tough at first to get into a rhythm, but dont give up,
You will find a way I would try to tell a story , like the process of trouble shooting /diagnosing would be a vid I would watch !
@@happybleeding I haven't had anything like that yet. Other I need to with my wife's. I need to figure out how to connect 2 videos into one
Good video.I have not done any work in week been sick and not in my right mind. Good oil filter but
Reccommedation is wix xp. Just great filter. We doing a $75 hr on class 3 and below and about $100 hr on higher classes. But we have so many more fees and we try stay close to labor guide. If need longer I explain why. And I don't give the keys or equipment back until paid unless we have contact.
Hey Chris ,
Yeah Wix is my go to , but they didn't have one , hope your feeling better soon!
@@happybleeding ok. Got do what you got to do. I almost done with the air bags. I hate having to rig it. Due they don't want fix axle first. I have no case on my phone because just got it and they are in mail and no way holding up while I work so I am showing some bits and pieces of it. At the end I got figure out how make all of them into one video
