I’m not sure, but I think the “ah”s at the end wasn’t just vocalizing, but rather “the fall”. So in that case the line would be “but what happens after the fall?”

So when her melody comes in (the high pitched one) the main 5 onstage have already sung about being dead - but Jane sings the same melody as in the ballard of jane doe when she explains how it felt to fall off the rollercoaster (or for it to break) meaning she was experiencing her trauma/death after the rest of the choir. :)
I wonder why she died last, maybe it's connected to why she lost her head (like it didn't kill her instantly because her head was stuck before she died?? Idk)

You can! Poor Noel, he’s my favorite. So relatable for me as a pan kid in a Catholic school. The details they have in Noel throughout this production are perfect.

noel actually sings two of the harmonies! one of them is prerecorded and plays during this, and the other noel just sings normally. this is because ricky can’t sing so a harmony is missing
I like to imagine that noel realized that they needed another harmony so he deepens his voice to compensate for ricky

1:37 when I first watched the musical I was so confused at the point, Jane’s background vocals were so pretty but I was trying to find who was singing on stage. Little did I know at the time, _that was the point._

@@skullexmaybe the audience is supposed to not know who’s singing those pretty vocals because Jane is revealed later. The characters (Ricky looking up and off stage trying to find the voice) also not knowing who the vocals belong to is because none of them realized or even knew Jane was there.

This actually makes me think that Ricky, who is disabled and is the only one reacting to jane's riff, has supplemented his able-bodiedness for the ability to hear things that others can't. Because in Jane Doe's introduction, Karnak explicitly states that Jane was the only one not thought to be in the choir and that her body was the only one that remained unidentified because her head was taken off (Notice how her "Dolly" has no head when she offers to let Constance brush its hair). And her song is not about winning others over, it's about herself. Also notice how Jane looks, people have noticed that the Actress is wearing contacts that make her eye sockets look hollow, Meaning that there could be something wrong with her.
my head cannon is that Ricky and Jane were sitting with eachother while riding, in the back row. So when they crashed they were the last two to die, so he actually could hear her screams after everyone else went silent from their deaths.
Edit: yes I am aware that they would've had to have sat together, but that wasn't the main focus of the point.
Noticed that too, he is also the only one that really has a positive one-to-one with her, with the whole "Savannah with the Greenest Eyes scene." To think that the girl's whose screams haunt the play was only originally heard by the boy who couldn't have said a thing as they died.
Ricky actually during this whole sequence seems to be the only one confused and aware of what's around him isn't normal
I have a headcanon that the ride operator almost didn't let Ricky ride because some roller coasters have a rule about mobility aids and or disabilities, but Ocean bullied them into letting Ricky ride because of "Accessibility for all" which gives Ricky's later line "And then I rode that roller coaster... thanks" more meaning.

When Jane starts singing, I find it interesting that the way they are all moving about makes it seem like Ricky is the only one that hears her, which speaks to their interactions later in the play.

“how could this be fair” is so fucking good, they all did such a good job you can really feel the anger, even though this musical is quite humorous most of the time it’s about teens who died far to young
I just noticed Ocean and Constance go in to dance like Mischa and Noel did but then Constance turns away: assuming the waltz represents Mischa and Noel holding onto each other as they fell, does that means Ocean tried reach out to her? Was Constance too exhilirated to notice her holding on? Ocean just looks so surprised and hurt when she stands alone during that number.

I like how Ricky is the only one who notices the fact there is a fifth singer during the riffs after "How can this be fair?" , which in this case is Jane.

i love how this play makes stuff so incredibly bone chilling. how goofy and young all the characters act showing us how young they truly died. the rifts (is that the word?) they, espially jane, sing. how it goes up and then down as if its the screams or the roller coaster itself. the way they sometimes act out the roller coaster and how they show how much they were flung and tossed around. i mean if you really think about it this musical is so incredibly bone chilling, sad, and terrifying. especially songs like the ballad of jane doe, and Mischas (spelling?) song about his life and his lover. i’d also throw in Constances song. and then this song as well is so scary.
there's so much subtlety in the writing and characters' performances, i feel like rewatching always gives me something new to think about or notice and i just adore it

IKR!!!! seriously it’s so incredibly underrated
This is why I love it so much. It’s cute and campy but also so awfully complex and sad. You grow to adore every single one of the characters but at the end, they’re right back where they started, and they’ll never get to be alive again. The whole story is just genuis and the way they managed to make it a dark comedy is so incredible
its riffs, but yeah
IKR! All of the details in this show, comedic and tragic are just the best ever! With such a small cast, each character is watched at all time and these actors just nail their characters in this production. Every moment, every reaction is just perfect.
Just some silly little things I'd like to point out cause I'm feeling silly.
0:06 Noel does the dance as well :Dand you can distinctly hear Mischa singing the "doop"s.

3:23 Ricky looks so confused this entire time but he looks extra confused as he watches the rest of them dance, someone said this may be because he died last qnd is still adjusting more than the rest.
3:32 in the video during Karnaks dream of life you can see that ocean was at the very front of the cart so it would make sense that she heard the crack first
3:34 you can see Ricky shoot up more than the rest of the quior. So silly
3:44 as they act out them flailing around as the cart crashed you can hear Jane symbolizing the screams they all made.
At the very end they do q little quior pose.

Out of all of this - noel and mischa holding eachother when it crashes is one of my favorite parts, i love this. I cant explain why, its just an amazing moment.

I love all the fan theories and observations in these comments and I have my own to offer:
I noticed that Jane/Penny *is* wearing the same gray uniform as the other students, but the shirt under it is very lacy and seems almost like an *old* version of the same uniform. Keeping in line with her stylization and the doll whose head she is “wearing,” as well as the pinafores the others hold during her Ballad, there’s a very Victorian aesthetic about Jane. It even matches the partially choral, partially vaudeville/vintage carnival tune of the Ballad itself.
I think it’s also really cool that she and Mischa are the only ones who have modified uniforms. Jane has the lacy shirt while Mischa has shorter sleeves and doesn’t wear a tie. It really makes them stand out as outsiders from the rest of the choir, which makes a lot of sense for their characters. Mischa stands out because he’s Ukranian, one of the few people in Uranium who weren’t born and raised there. While Jane stands out because she isn’t remembered, which would exclude her from the choir.
@@lordofshibainus well Constance is also different (a little), she doesn't have the tie Ocean's wearing and the collar is up. There's also images of the choir (2015) and one of them is Constance coming out of a port-a-potty buttoning her shirt and looking around.

!Trigger Warning! I go indepth about the carnage and details of what could've happened.
my idea of what happened in order (with * for speculation proof):
-The Drunk Carnie does something wrong with the safely bar/speed settings
*They all constantly reference feeling unsafe and Karnak references how the second axel failed from stress. Also you'd need to be pretty dismissive to let a teen with giant potentally dangerious braces on to a roller-coaster. Any attendant would've had Ricky sit it out, Turn them awah, or had the Crutches held to the side while he rode. I have the idea that ocean argued with the Carnie and the carnie was just like "have him sit in the back and make sure those don't get in the way." because ocean was annoyed about the carnie. Also it was pretty late into the evening in both versions of the script and let's be honest, the middle/end of a shift can be hell and you gotta take the edge off somehow
-Ocean heard the crack as the cart was going down the drop.
*ocean says so in this song that she heard a crack. She's also sitting in the front, so she'd be the closest to the failing axel
-Everyone screams
*who wouldn't. they also constantly talk about screaming
-the cart partially derails and the safety bar fails as they near the top of the loop.
*Constance talking about the sparks flying. if it had fully derailed, there wouldn't be sparks because you'd need the friction from the metal. Also the weightless feeling happens near the top of a loop
-Ricky's Crutches knock Penny off causing her to fall onto the tracks at the bottom of the loop.
*His Crutches are swinging everywhere and yhe only open spot in the cart is next to him. Jane sings about falling. So we can assume that she flew out of the cart and Ricky's Crutches might've caused a LOT of damage
-Constance starts hysterically laughing for a second as the cart snaggs on the track causing everyone on it to jerk forward and die or lose consciousness from the trama and force of the abrupt stop
* This is just Constance's account. their deaths needed to be extremely quick and jerky because Constance didn't even notice she died. it was cut off abruptly. she said everything just stopped. To me that sounds like she lost consciousness by slamming her head into something.
-the 4th of the track that they derailed and snagged on collapsed and crushed penny's upper half.
*playbills/promo art shows that a 4th of track was missing. For it to be a Freak accident that went onto national news, it needs to be that big of a catastrophic failure. It also makes sense that this is what decapitated Penny because if they couldn't find her head, it could've been crushed and mangled with the rest of the bodies. The bodies were so mangled that they had to have the parents and guardians ID them and cross reference with the parents who did show up. The bodies had to be reasonably destroyed enough to not recognize them. So an electrical fire could've broken out, they could've been crushed by debris, ect.
Alt idea:
They could've been flung off like a cartoon and the cart could've gotten some wind and crashed into a nearby area because we don't know the physics of this universe or how grounded the real world is for them. I chose the most possible option from what we have and what makes sense. pls help me refine and make the events clearer. I know for a fact that this isn't the most accurate and I need help tightening details and such
licechamp i agree with the first part where you talked about the carnie being stupid.
From my understanding and what I think makes sense, its kinda similar but also a little bit different in some ways, though very different to how everyone else other than you I've seen say. I believe Jane died first and was what caused the cart to fully derail. I think it had partially derailed and the jerking of it was part of what caused her to fall out at the top of the loop, and then when the already partially derailed cart reached the bottom and rolled over her neck, severing her head and killing her, that was what caused the rest of the cart to come off and shoot upward on the hill right after, sending them up into the air and spinning. Some of them might've died here because of the sheer force of all of the jerking and suddenly hitting things, as I imagine to have enough force to derail the cart it would also be able to kill some of them, especially Ocean and Constance who could've had their heads suddenly slammed forward into the front of the cart.
From what I understand based on choreography, I think Noel and Mischa were hugging eachother as the cart was spinning in the air, possible helping with some of the impact. though Ricky's crutches (if they were still there) could have probably hit into Ricky hard enough to kill him from the force. I say it was spinning in the air and they didn't die (atleast not all of them) just from the sudden impact at first alone because it talks about them spinning through space, but also in the opening song, Karnak's Dream of Life, it says "it goes around and round and round again, you know the sun is rising while descending" and I think obviously the round and round is them spinning, but also, the time of their deaths, 6:19pm, is around the time that the sun would be setting, and so while spinning it would look both like the sun was coming up when upside down and when rightside up would look like its going down.
I think their death order for me is probable Jane, then Ocean and Constance (maybe ocean first since her side was already derailed), then Ricky, then Noel and Mischa.
I believe the reason that only Ricky reacts to Jane's screaming is because he was sitting next to her and everyone else was already too scared and screaming about the axel to realize she had fallen out, and by the time they hit her it was too late for them to notice. I also think her screaming lasts longer because the head after being separated can remain conscious for a few seconds to a few minutes, which is backed up by her lines in her song of "and from the ground beneath my feet, I hear the anguish of the street", which I think is her in her confusion and shock, not realizing she was already dead, hearing the screaming of both the choir and the people on the ground watching this happen.
If you have any other ideas based on what ive said though by all means let me know.

Big note here is that it is heavily implied if not confirmed or at least a shared headcanon that the carnie Constance did it with is the same one that messed up the coaster ride and didn’t do the proper safeties to it. Idk just wanted to point that out lol

Well that's 'cause they're two separate songs. There have been like 3 or 4 different openings now and the new version of Uranium Suite is the newest.
The last bit where they sing about floating through space is underrated. Its just as good as the “how could this be fair” part
2:11 at this bit you can see Ricky sort of glaring at Ocean which doesnt seem like anything at first glance but then later in on the musical it is revealed that he blames Ocean for his death because she is the reason he was on The Cyclone. Just a fun little thing ^^
The choreography at 1:31 matching their moves in “It’s just a ride” 🔥🔥
1:22 the "pushing forward pulling back" movement is very satisfying
To me, this version of the song has WAY more feeling in it as they come to terms with their death.
Examples:
“When the fall, not fair the ride goes where?!” *screaming*
“What’s the point of even sue-ing? Dead, we’re done, there’s no undoing. Nothing felt to do except to rot.” -Noel realizing they are dead and is clearly angry
“Life is just a dream.” - Dreams seem long, but stops abruptly when you wake up.
“Felt the drop going oh I’m never going back.”
“But what happens then?! What happens after?!” -the choir being terrified about what’s going to happen now
“Oh where’s the sky and where’s the ground?”
“Falling through the air, I wonder how can this be fair?”
As they sing, you can hear their emotions of confusion, anger, and worry.

Hear me out ok-
I've been a rtc enjoyer for months and after watching every version of the opening here are my opinions:
- Waiting for the drop: my favorite, the harmonies are to die for and it really utilizes the spinning platform, also the choreography is iconic
- Uranium Suite / Tragic Fact: This particular version stands out a lot from the rest, it's more mechanical and chilling, mainly focuses on the negative emotions the come with death :(
Fall fair: lowkey a bop, focuses on comedy but also gives my stomach that pit feeling the remains for the rest of the show (hard to explain)
Uranium suite: okayyyy this version is my least favorite tbh,,, it just doesn't sit right with me (but this could be because it's the only one on the track) it misses out on the melodies and individuality of the characters like it does in fall fair.
I agree for the most part, but I think I like Uranium Suite more than Uranium Suite / tragic fact. Tragic Fact is missing the "round and round" part, and honestly doesn't really make it clear that characters died like the others do
@Tilda Thirkell I agree. Uranium is not visted as a concept too often, I dont think a song about it should have been chosen as the opening number.

the choir not knowing jane's true identity always confuses me. because in the montage part of the musical, we can see her. we can't totally see her, but she's part of the choir. my only explanation is that she's either late or she's not included to their trip to the fair, maybe this is why they never thought of her name. if that's the case, maybe she rode the rollercoaster on the last minute (she's sitting beside ricky). maybe jane wasn't secured at all while riding the rollercoaster causing her to fall and the rest is history.
Maybe their knowledge is limited to what Karnak knows?
My guess was that the rest of the choir can't remember Penny/Jane because she wasn't recognised by the living. As no one claimed Penny, her identity got basically erased from both the world and afterlife.

Probably for the same reason she can't remember any details about herself. They probably remember there being another member, but not being able to recall any details (I am far from the first one to point this out)

We know at the end Karnak says she is Penny Lamb, but by the script of Legoland something just doesnt add up.

For real, that could have been me. I was once on a ride called the Kamikaze in a low-budget event, the one that turns you upside down, and before it started to spin the employee was supposed to lower a backpack-like device over our shoulders and strap it to our belts. He strapped it for everyone else but me, just lowered the thing on my shoulders and was done with it without buckle, and I had no time to warn him before he'd gone down the platform and turned that freaking thing on. What's a girl to do? I held on to the handle with all I had and firmed my feet under the support, didn't let go a single second until it was over. By the point we halted upside down I froze hard as stone, all my joints petrified, and when I got down I was still in shock and just walked away, not a word. I was just a tween.

Has anyone else thought about the actual order in which each of them actually dies? Because I've been sitting here listening to just this song, trying to analyze each part to (unfortunately 🤣) figure out when each of them could have died.
Obviously Jane is last, and Ricky comes just before her because we can see he clearly notices her screaming, and the others don't make any indication they hear her. So, I'm just trying to line up the order of the other four. Anyone else have a thought?
If Ricky and Jane were the last two then it probably goes from front to back. I heard somewhere that the axle broke on Ocean's side and she noticed it first, though I'm not sure if that means she was the first to die.

I have a feeling it could have been ocean and constance. Then mischa and noel and then Jane and Ricky. Especially looking at the coaster formation in the song those pairings are together I feel Ricky was probably last of he's the only one to hear Jane when she's not in the formation
I think it was Ocean, Noel, Constance, Mischa, Ricky and Jane just from the way the choreography goes with their jerking movements. The only thing with that is that Ricky actually jerks first like the back of cart hit the broken track making them flip, so I think he was the first to fall last to die if that makes sense

This literally the best opening ever amongst the other versions.
It goes through an entire process:
1.) talking about the fair, getting excited (Them telling the audience about the Fall Fair, which is the setting of their deaths.)
2.) realizing something is wrong (Them realizing that they're dead.)
3.) Dying ("Falling through the air, how can this be fair?")
4.) Getting to the other side and getting mad about it (Ocean wanting to sue the fair, because she's mad that she died due to the carnival's negligence.)
5.) Trying to recollect what the fuck just happened and calms down, remembering about how it feels to be king when you're on top of the coaster. The calm before the storm. They had their entire life before them but they're coming--
6. Down. It's the end. They're going to meet the ground. In those few seconds from heaven to hell they realize there isn't any going back.
in waiting for the drop, they're just recollecting going up and down. but fall fair ride tells the story, from getting on the coaster, the rise, the recollection, the drop, and the fucking inevitable death waiting for them. it gives the characters personality. aaaaah.
The Fall Fair Suite is literally my favorite version. It's more detailed and the music just gives you the sinking feeling in your stomach as you slowly realize what's going to happen along with them. Waiting for the Drop is fun but man Fall fair made me soooo uncomfortable and for that it's my favorite.

@@spiritedaway0tutu Uranium Suite gives context into where they lived and the limited options they saw/thought they could in life after growing up, which was probably part of what caused oceans... everything (wanting more oppurtunity even if it means putting others down), noel disdain for alot of things (he saw that he wouldn't have oppurtunities so he decided to vent his frustrations through art and then just stop caring), and constances hate for anything that had to do with the town. The farmers market was put out of business by the mall noel works at, the isolation was probably even worse for ricky considering everything, anyone working at the farmers market needed to find a new job, which likely included constances parents, given that they were considered providers of food to the people for generations. Mischa's adoptive parents were likely looking for that perfect family shown in alot of media at the time.

This is my favorite version of the opening because for some reason the other versions put a lot of focus on Uranium city instead of the actual characters we’re going to be spending the rest of the play with which is especially weird because Uranium isn’t at all the main focus of the show: it’s the choir.
i find it interesting how around 3:05 it looks like only mischa and constance arent smiling? constance looks somewhat regretful and mischa is just... looking.
i think Mischa doesn’t smile because he has 0 connection to Uranium besides for his adopted parents which are… ya know not the greatest. I think Constance looks a bit regretful because she’s working through her feelings about finally leaving the hometown she adored so much.
I think Ocean and Ricky are smiling because Uranium City is familiar to them, meanwhile Noel smiles because he finally got to leave Uranium City.

As much as Mischa’s adoptive parents aren’t the greatest, they didn’t throw him out, they did keep him, and fed him, although they could not bring themselves to love him, which is horrible, by any measure, it could be a lot worse, I know of children who came to their adoptive parents with physical or mental handicap and were left on the side of the road on the way home because of it.

I didn't see anyone talk about it, but the riff Jane sings in this song is almost the same as in The ballad of Jane Doe and they both come at a time of melancholy and grief of their own deaths or the life that they could've had...
this musical has been showing up in my video recs a bunch lately, so i've been watching this a few times whenever it pops up before stepping away and i just noticed that Mischa and Noel put their hands on Ricky's shoulders as a quiet assist when they do "all that's spinning round" of the spinning through space bit, which is really cute to me

I love the characters nods to living life, for example:-
Misha says “now I know what YOLO really means” where YOLO as an acronym means “you only live once”, showing how he finally understands the value of life and how you can’t go again
Ocean says “carpe diem” which is used to urge someone to make the most of the present time and give little thought to the future, with this being followed by “what a lovely theme” which shows how little they cared about caring about the present. I think this applies the most to Ocean since she only sees people beaded on future merit and status, disregarding the present so that she can think about future success.
Noel says “Cest la vie” translating to “thats life” (kind of like “oh well”) followed by “life is just a dream”, showing the disappointment with how they haven’t fully lived their lives due to the accident cutting it short
just realised that mischa and constance don't have a neck tie on or have their shirts buttoned properly, but the others do. i reckon it's bc mischa is trying to be a badass and constance has just gotten frisky lololol

I have a theory that the order they sing their songs in is their death order. Ocean, Noel, Mischa, Ricky, Jane Doe, And Constance. Mischa having 2 songs it took him the longest to die. This would explain why only Ricky and Constance don't just look straight forward, still being alive. Constance probably thinks, "Oh someone watching The Cyclone and us fall.", Saying that the audience (watching the musical) is where the cyclone is supposed to be going, And the curtain area has the people actually watching The Cyclone. 15) 1:45 It looks like Mischa is slapping Ricky, which could mean that when Mischa was falling, and he hit Ricky on accident trying to hold onto the cart that Ricky and Jane were in. 16) 2:11 It shows the middle finger again Karnak said. I'm using Coney Island for reference since they have a ride called "Cyclone". In the disabilities part it says in the Casts, Braces and Prosthetic Devices That, "Guests may be restricted from participating in rides where a cast, brace or prosthetic device does not fit or inhibits the restraint system, or in any case it presents a danger to the rider, other guests or presents a safety concern of any kind.", So Ricky Should've not been on The Cyclone, he should've survived. love the 'round and round' part so much, mostly i just think it's cool but i also cant help noticing that constance is spinning by herself, but she's holding the air like she's SUPPOSED to be holding someone else (like noel and mischa). someone pointed out that noel and mischa might have been holding onto each other when they fell so maybe constance reached out for ocean and ocean didn't reach back? (although, mischa did also say he'd been flailing for his phone to call talia one last time) either way, as we learn more about her it makes sense, she was never really there for her friend, not even when constance needed her
Assuming thank Noel and misha dancing together represents them holding onto each other during the crash did ocean grab onto Constance only for her the snatch away fed up with ocean not wanting her last moments to be still leaning into that toxic friendship
I think it was less of that, and more of her giddiness and astonishment of how cool the moment was, and also her finally finding her metaphorical sugar cloud. She says in her monologue that she was laughing like a crazy person because of how joyful she felt in her final seconds of life.

Kind of disturbing fact that I noticed and some other people noticed during this whole segment when you see Mischa and Noel do that dance Constance and ocean almost go into the same dance main sources from the popular slime tutorial but basically the reason why it's choreographed like this it's because it's mimicking how they fell in the accident Mischa and Noel grab onto each other and embrace before death Constance and ocean try to grab onto each other like Mischa Noel but fail that's why Constance spins past ocean and Ricky was left to fall out of the cart also ocean gets the solo and isn't spinning around like the other choir members because from what I'm guessing she died first and then when the choir gets back together for the final lyrics before what happens after the fall when the rest of the choir stops spinning that's when they die
I heard a theory that the ballroom dancing shows who held onto who and for how long. Basically, Ocean and Constance held on at first but quickly let go while Mischa and Noel held on to one another for a while. Ricky was sorta just there lol
