"Amazing how a horrific concept like social Darwinism can sound so appealing when you put a catchy beat under it." -Karnak, the Official Soundtrack Album
What I love about this song besides the narcissism is the irony. Especially the first time she describes them as the working class, who are exactly the ones who "keep the world spinning around" and "pumping the gas"
One of the layers of irony I really enjoy is the way her song and outlook is as much of a fantasy as the others', she just doesn't realise it when she's complaining about how the girlfriend isn't real or the cat people in space arent real or the life as a hooker isn't real - her being special and superior isn't real. This musical slaps
Yep. It’s the funniest part of this song. Of course when you’re growing up, you’re always taught the smartest and most successful people make the world turn. But in reality is the “organ donors” are the ones keeping things running. If Ocean hadn’t died when she did, she was in for a massive shock once she hit college or work.
Something I like from this song is the use of lighting. When she's praising herself, the lights are pink and vibrant. When she's looking down at others, the lights are blue and gloomy, like her facade has fallen down and you can see past her "innocence"
I absolutely love how Ocean is not a typical mean girl character. She’s a nerd but she’s also definitely a leader, maybe self-proclaimed, but she does seem to be “protecting” the group during scary moments (like in It’s not a game/ it’s just a ride). She’s pretty, probably knows it (something about her attitude towards fast-food tells me that..), but doesn’t seem to know how to “use” it or doesn’t value it really. And I love how she’s a little clumsy and her body language is a little childlike, especially in this song. She’s so innocent really. And I also like how she can be bitchy and sarcastic (like what she tells Noel while trying to prove everyone she actually loves them is hilarious), but also she seems so open and she’s smiling all the time. I guess you can say she’s TRYING to be nice, but my god she’s just so cute, like in this Every Story Has a Lesson part where she’s listening to Misha explaining the moral of Saw 5 and she seems so genuinely interested 😭😭 idk I just love Ocean a lot, there’s dimension you know

Honestly shes kinda like the hated character in death games. People think she's greedy but most people would want to live, even if it means insulting or sucking up to people. This is the best performance I've seen of this so far! Tiffany KILLS it here especially!!
1:52 | nothing special i just rlly love this part

@@lanadelreyism0ther oh i would

NO. its just the "trending" part on tiktok for people who DONT EVEN LIKE THEATRE. 🙄😒
She reminds me of the villains from Night In The Woods. She also reminds me of JD from heathers :D

I CAME AS SOON I HEARD
ALL THE WAY FROM LONDON?
@@med6067 DAMN
I READ THIS SO WRONG
[OCEAN]
Oh no
What the world needs
is people like me
To keep it all spinning around
I'm the mover, I'm the shaker, I'm the headline maker
I get up
I get up
And no one's gonna keep me down
Okay, it's clear I'm the top of this class
These folks here, well they pump the gas
Fetch me a coffee, shine my shoes
Some of us are winners, some were born to lose
You got the Sandwich artist, the security guard
The Walmart greeter with an overdrawn credit card
He smokes ganja, oh it's so groovy
To stay at home and watch a transformers movie
She serves me a Coke and a medium fries and
No thanks, I don't want it supersized cause that's low class
Diabetes in a cup
Keep your head down and things will look up
What the world needs is people like me
To keep it all spinning around
I'm the mover, I'm the shaker, I'm the headline maker
I get up
I get up
And no one's gonna keep me down
Seriously?
This one here, he's raring to fail
He'll rob a 7-Eleven and go straight to jail
Maybe steal hubcaps, maybe steal booze
Expressing himself with his homemade tattoos
Soccer mom, minivan
Four little brats, no steady man
And do we really need another organ donor?
(spoken) Maybe that was a little harsh, love you!
Oh, Pokemon, Spiderman
This kid doesn't have an attention span
And what's he gonna do, solve a Rubik's Cube?
(whispered) How long's he got if we feed him through a tube?
What the world needs is people like me
To keep it all spinning around
I'm the mover, I'm the shaker, I'm the headline maker
I get up
I get up
And no one's gonna keep me down
And as we move through life to find our place in the crowd
[CHORUS]
Some don't make the cut that's crystal clear-o
[OCEAN]
Oh yes, oh yes
Well isn't someone keeping score, I've gotta say it out loud
I mean do we need another zero
Or zero, or zero, or zero, or zero
Add 'em all up and you'll still get zero
What you really need is a Futhermucking Hero
He'll never learn to read
He's never gonna breed
Going to jail, guaranteed
And she's a freaky monster
[CHORUS]
Yes there's a problem
[OCEAN]
I'm the solution
Darwin had a theory called
[CHORUS]
Evolution
[OCEAN]
He put it into words but it's plain to see
We need a little less of them a little more of me
Me, little more of me (riffing)
I get up, I get up
And no one's gonna keep me down
[CHORUS]
Some stay down
[OCEAN]
Down!
I'm obsessed with this song
rickys actor is fuckin enjoying this aint he, bro is all smiley
futher muckin' is my new favourite!
PLEASE RELEASE AN ALBUM 💿

May 7!!
It just came out :) Enjoy the ride.
Random things I found funny:
2:55 Kholby looks so done with Tiffany -
2:19 some ppl think she says “mother fucking” (same with cast recording)
0:10 Scott looks terrified
0:04 Karnaks mic not picking up so it sounded like “Nope”
0:43 how many times have they changed this line (ik 3)
0:56 the ocean heads on the side spin along
1:21 *nodding in agreement*
1:29 you talking to me? Oh ok. *Pays attention for one second before doing his own thing*
1:35 oh shit *Goes back to choreo*
1:57 *Happy Ocean dance*
2:21 what we’ve been waiting for
2:24 he’s never gonna breed 😒
2:28 AND SHES A FREAKY MONSTER! *Walks to side*
2:34 y’all know that one TikTok that says instead of “evolution!” It says “shut up Ocean!” I can’t get it out of my head-..
2:36 NOEL CONSTANCE JANE RICKY AND MISCHA KILLING IT!1’
2:41 Kholbys microphone being overlapped/barely heard😭✋
2:43 MEMEMEME✨
3:04 😀
I like Jane Doe's costume design, she starts off very stiff with doll-like motions and at the end, she becomes more 'human'. The best part is that she adopted her dolls head (since died without one) and wardrobe (blonde hair and headband, tights, mary jane shoes, black eyes, laceyblouse)
1:11 JD?
This song is so narcissistic.
And I love it.
I love how Jane is just like:
What is my life?
I think you mean
Where is my head
“And she’s a freaky monster!”
aw cmon don’t diss my girl Penny like that
I like how oceans bitchiness can be replaced with cluelessness
whoever wrote the verse “im the mover, im the shaker, im the headline maker.” has ruined my life and will be punished
You can thank Brooke Maxwell and/or Jacob Richmond!
@@finleyforevermore why would I thank them for ruining my life?
I love the cringe of the character and the acting it is so perfect
OMG I worked with her on A Chorus Line! Ever since u saw her as Maggie, I knew she was amazing. Great job!
So mad I missed this production
‘fothermucking hero’ is so iconic
It's so funny seeing the pictures of herself all over place
This is what a presidential election should look like
I love this song so much
Can we please get an album
I FINALLY FOUND IT! I've been looking for the source of that tik tok audio for soooo long now.
All that aside though this looks really good.
So this is the Tahani of the group, right?
I want her voice it amazing 😭😭😭😭
Awesome! Which date was this performance filmed? Would love to be able to tell if I was in the audience :)
October 2020 I think
Oooh niceee
@@chiharumisaki1565That was the day this video was released on UA-cam. If I remember correctly, there were no productions of RtC going on in 2020, and even if there was, it wouldn't have been this one. This video is of the 2019 Atlanta production at the Alliance Theatre, the last production in the 2015-2019 (excluding 2018) American Tour.
I thought Galinda was narcissistic but oh my gosh, we have a winner ^^
It’s funny bc I just heard 2 songs from this show and this is one of them and while I already can’t stand this character, the song is catchy asf
