    Homemade French Fries
    Ingredients:
    5 - 6 yukon gold potatoes, organic
    2 - 3 Tbsp. olive oil
    Salt
    Garlic powder
    Directions:
Preheat the oven 375 degrees F.
Peel and then cut the potatoes into sticks approximately ¼ inch thick and about 3 to 4 inches long. Place the cut potatoes into a container of cold water to soak for 30 minutes.
For the potatoes, feel free to use russet potatoes if you wish but I feel the yukon gold potatoes are more tender and creamy so I prefer to use those.
Once the potatoes are done soaking, drain the water and rinse the potatoes under cold water and then place the potatoes onto a clean towel or paper towels. Using another clean towel or paper towels, rub the potatoes to dry them as much as possible. The dryer the potatoes are, the more likely they are to get crispy and brown up.
Place the dried potatoes onto a parchment covered baking sheet in a single layer. Each fry should touch the bottom of the pan if possible.
Drizzle the potatoes with the olive oil and rub it in with your hands to coat all sides of the potatoes. Then season with salt and garlic powder.
Place the pan in the oven and bake at 375 degrees F. for 20 minutes. Rotate the pan and increase the temperature to 425 degrees F. and bake for another 10 minutes.
That’s it! Delicious french fries are ready for your enjoyment! Serve these with ketchup or my Algeriun sauce:
    Algerian Sauce
    Ingredients:
    ½ cup avocado mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. tomato paste
2 Tbsp. organic yogurt, plain or vanilla will work
2tsp. To 2 Tbsp. Harrisa paste
    Pinch of salt
    1 lemon zested
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2 Tbsp. minced onion
    ½ tsp. Ground cumin
    ½ tsp. Garlic powder
Combine everything in a bowl and stir to combine. Will keep a week or 2 in the refrigerator. Perfect on fries, sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, or anything you want to add a touch of heat to.

I use the same prep but I put the cut fries into a bowl with Italian Salad Dressing, mix and spread onto the baking sheet. My sauce is a bowl of red curry. I liked your extra garlic and cumin is interesting.

I like your idea of putting the fries in a bowl of Italian dressing! I may have to give that a try too. You can never go wrong with extra garlic! 🙂

Yes! I make fries like this all the time, the olive oil provides a nice flavor and you only need a drizzle of it. Works in an air fryer too. Optional seasoning along with the salt and garlic; add some dried oregano and just a touch of black pepper after the first fry/bake. Nice video Robin, thank you!

Thanks Don! Olive oil is the way to go if you are concerned about your health. I just got a new air fryer from costco. Can't wait to try it out.

Yay!! I'm soooo excited to try these! I have my adult kids over for dinner frequently and one thing I love to do is burger night. But I've never been able to get homemade fries just right and frozen ones are never an option because I think they taste awful. 😊 I never knew you should soak them for 30 minutes beforehand and get them completely dry. It makes sense but I never knew that! Can't wait! Thanks so much!

Yum! Will have to try this the next time I buy potatoes. I haven't tried soaking the slices before.
For food scraps during cooking you can also line a bowl with newspaper or kraft paper and put food scraps in that. It will get damp but will be pretty easy to wash out when you are done.
