I Am a home mechanic here, just bought a LAUNCH CRP 123, after watching your channel, finally got it working and thought good I now have a scanner for the life of this car, Update for one Year, that's ok I thought, once it works that's ok But then found out if you don't subscribe to do the update in the next year, they send a signal to your scanner that stops it from working at all, until you pay for a new subscription you will then have a crap BRICK------- IMAGINE IF MICRO SOFT sent a signal to turn your computer off at the end of the first year because you did not pay the ransom.
The CRP123 and the rest of the units in that range come with free lifetime updates, so, where is the one year from? Also, Launch (as well as Autel and others) rarely ever block or brick products, Launch specifically are one of the best manufacturers for allowing continuous usage after update licenses expire, we simply cannot update the software with new features and auto specific features without a paid licence which is fair enough for a commercial business.
System-wide BI-direct diagnosis: Provide system-wide troubleshooting, including code reading, code clearing, data stream reading, special functions, active testing, coding, matching and other functions. I plan to buy one of these units. 😆😆
RYAN good video been looking at the launch x431 pro 3 but it's got the latest software and smart link included Ryan got a ford kug tdci diesel coming up with lost connection with body control module any idea pal 😊
You'll need one that can access and customise features/flash files to the ECU (EEPROM), lower end and mid units don't usually have this ability. And depending on technical ability, the units that are capable of the job are not usually user friendly or guided. However, a place that does ECU work and tuning can not only do the work, they can warranty it and limit several risks overall.
My current Launch Scanner Tablet cannot change the Vin number in a used replacement satellite left module from a doner car on a BMW Z4, usual go to NCS Expert coding also fails to change the Vin number. Is the Launch X431 Pro Elite able to update modules with the cars Vin Number so the airbag light can be put out, it won't clear until the module gets the correct Vin and the system start time is coded in.
The technical details from the manufacturer say online and offline coding for the VIN, as well as component matching (replacement, changed, etc.) However, after the ECU there are no details about which specific modules can be read and written to match the VIN. What I know will work is the BMW factory software (ISTA P or newer ISTA + with programming) and a specific cable for programming to use that software on a computer. However, there is a high technical requirement for factory software and it's recommended for professional usage.
Most of the sales listing have 2 years of updates included, then it's a couple of hundred per year or discounted if another 2 years is paid for instead.
Some Launch and Autel tools have free lifetime updates for certain models, they tend to be for users that require the same set of limited functions without changes. If it's going to be more than DIY and semi-professional to professional then some type of subscription is inevitable. There are several other manufacturers of similar tools and they vary in quality, it's common for these to offer free lifetime or free for a few years updates, however, they can be unreliable due to servers being down for months or sometimes never having updates released.

Both very capable I do prefer topdon (just my opinion)
Nice one Ryan , more and more stuff being done on line access due to massive storage needs on devices , nowt to do with big brother 😂😂😂😂

is there a subscription to pay with this tool ?

which would be the best tool with free lifetime updates
