Without doubt one of the best YT diagnostic channels out there and enjoy every episode even though Im 68 and retired from the game. Always patient, informative and methodical a real credit to you and your training.
Your explanations are up there with the best, learned a tonne. People with a bit of an idea will be better techs from these videos. Ignore the criers in the comments
Well done Mac, 👏 Two points, I've noticed over the years that tywraps are increasingly not the safety type with the teeth outside, they're inside so can chaffe the insulation, ans also, the foreign cables are not tinned copper just bare copper so plenty of potential "time bombs " ticking away through corrosion. Hugely excessive amount of viscious road salt in winter is a hazard too 😮
Cheers for video Ryan, lucky man getting the 120amp battery maintainer we have the 30amp Topdon and it does the job for us but we don’t program cheers sandy
Cheers Sandy, aye i am looking forward to receiving it The 30 amp one is ideal for doing diagnostics i would likely have bought similar if they didn’t offer Cheers
I was just thinking the same Sandy, a nice little present to get Ryan. As you say sometimes it can be hard to get across what your thinking on camera and then off the keyboard warriors go 😂😂 Good video though 💪💪
I have a similar problem with saying the wrong thing, as soon as i start recording my brain switches off lol Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching them Ryan.
Excellent Ryan, as always. I found it logical and easy to follow and there is no need for you to apologise to the viewer because they are benefitting from them, if they know it already and do not like your explanations then they need to stop watching. I am not an automotive electrician or mechanic and in this situation I would have checked F9 and popped in a new relay (or more likely bench tested the existing relay) and then I would have really struggled without access to a wiring diagram - how can a DIY chap access wiring diagrams affordably? Thank you for sharing your work with us.😀👍
Very useful. My mechanic gave up on my old Bora. But after watching a couple of these I manged to get it going again. An ECU / immo problem. I could not have done it without Ali Express and their dodgy scanner cable / software. Pro tip. Install it on a virtual PC with no network access and delete it afterwards for safety.
@@TwIn603I use it a fair bit. Delivery is reliable 5 days or you get a voucher. The software you are taking your chance. I think it's usually a cracked version of something expensive same for the hardware. Windows will report it as a virus. Don't know if it is or not. Hence put it on a virtual PC you can delete. My £3.99 ODB cable came with some freeware / shareware software which worked fine but I would not trust it just the same.
@@TwIn603 No problem. An old laptop you don't mind cleaning out / reinstalling windows on so it does not have personal information on would work. You will might have to disable the anti-virus and allow it to load unsigned drivers as well. Someone who knows a little bit about computers would be a help. For the Bora the cable I bought came with the Ross-Tech software. The free version and a cracked version. There is also free stuff online for recovering secret key codes and reprogramming ecu's.
Thanks for the video - I dont know why the french have not improved thier wiring in 30 years that I have known of The old Peugeot diesels were bullet proof BUT the wiring let them down - now they own Vauxhall its starting in them as well !!!
Nice one Ryan , every job is fun nowadays , but correct testing as you are doing is bang on 👍👍, nearly every job now out comes some form of battery maintainer, so much power drain when testing for faults , unfortunately our job is so costly for tools , so its very nice that you will be soon getting a new shiney maintainer, especially as a gift , great video , green crusties , its a good job we dont live in the salt belt of the USA , as you know here in the UK our wiring just gets wet 😂😂😂😂 then rots away , cable ties are great but not when pulled so tight , they become a plastic saw through wiring 👍
Brilliant Ryan.. Such a simple and avoidable fault if manufactures spent another few pence on better wire and routing management systems like they did in 1969 when they landed men on the Moon ( or did they !!). Also makes you wonder if the UK is the only European country to use salt in the wintertime icy road treatment ? On the bright side it keeps you fully employed eh ! 😅
As said in the video the load testing through a h7 bulb was done off camera, This is to prevent too long of video And the consumer was plugged in, if a high resistance was present with the consumer plugged in it would have shown on the multimeter
Hi there. Lovely quick diag. No, you’re not going too fast. Perfectly understandable. But please, where do you get wiring diagrams from? I’m at my limit now with just the topdon phoenix plus. I need wiring diagrams to get any further. Keep up the great content. Ted Lewis. Bedford.
I’ve a pal with a 718 cayman gt4 2023 and it’s coming up with all kinds of faults airbag/abs and such. Been to Porsche and still not solved it…….. wonder if it’s a video you’d like to do

Great video mate , would love a little more content of testing and methods though myself ,
Excellent as always mate 👍🏻👍🏻
All about the ones and the twos mate 🤣👌

Brilliant video and explanation of your diagnostic process.
Cheers Kevin
This is a great video, very helpful because I have a 2017 Discovery sport with communication problems with several ECU/modules
Great job Ryan, everyday is a school day. Thanks.

Top work as always Ryan 👍🏻 👌

I never use a meter for testing power, you could have a rotted out cable and still show good voltage, at least a 10 watt bulb
As said in the video the load testing through a h7 bulb was done off camera, This is to prevent too long of video

Nice job, how do you recommend these kind of wires are repaired? Do you solder and heatshrink? or do you find the waterproof heatshrink crimps useful?
It depends the location but this one i red heat crimped with secured with adhesive tubing, Some awkward places i will solder
Thanks for watching bud
what worries me is that made perfect sense 🤪🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks paul 🤣👍👍
👍 thanks
Great video as usual. Can I ask where you get the wiring diagrams from please?
You’re a Gent thank you
Thanks for watching

Incredible that a small wire like that has the ability to stop a car.
You will be my go to auto electrician if I have any problems with my car.
Very useful. You say about Topdon, how you can power it being mobile diagnostician?
My van has a power inverter i fitted in the back
Thanks for watching Adrian 👍👍
