    Still a good tutorial after 5 years. Ditto on using the shop vac for the water overflow out of the pump. Saved me a lot of extra time.

    Thanks for taking the time to put this together and share! That took care of the stink that I recently noticed whenever the washer was in spin cycle. I ended up placing duct tape around the entire access port opening to avoid slicing my hands and your wet vac tip suggestions were excellent and kept things from getting messy. After cleaning that cavity and cap, the stink is gone.

      Gosh darn, THAT was simple to do. Thanks for the heads up on the wet vac; made all the difference in keeping things dry. Somehow a 3/32-inch square stainless washer jammed the pump.. God only knows where it came from. We be fixed and running fine. Thank you.

    This video no doubt saved me a couple of hundred dollars in repair bills, so thank you very much for that. It also opened my eyes up to the necessity of doing regular maintenance on one's washing machine. There's no reason to not periodically clean out the pump area, instead of waiting for something to go wrong.

    Thank you. My wife and found a 25 cent piece. Some pieces of rock grit and lo and behold a bra underwire. I thought that was a mechanism for the seal. Lol. Thanks again.

    One thing that would be helpful to know here is that inserting a nail in the access panel hole and turning will not open the disk. Insert the nail all the way into the hole until you feel it stop, then press in about 5mm more before you try to turn. There is a plastic tab holding the disk in place that needs to be pushed back to unhook it and allow the disk to turn.

    Worked like a charm! Mine was disgusting - there were two socks, $1.50+ in change, bobby-pins, safety pins, and other random junk in there. It smelled like a combination of Indian food & dirty diapers. All of the coins are permanently stained black. But... It looks like it worked! Thanks for posting.

    I did not have a nail to open the panel so I improvised with a wire coat hanger straightened out one end. I use them to unclog drains of hair. This was a very helpful video. Saved me from throwing the baby out with the bath water. Bosch is a damn good product. I do not like these front load washers, but it has lasted us for a good number of years.

    To add to many of the comments of gratitude and thanks, I believe you're fix has done it for my first load at least we will see how subsequent ones go. There is a strange noise now coming from the pump area that I cleaned out. I found a gold chain and some other magnetic bits and lots of gunk which I scraped out with a small screwdriver, so hope I didn't damage anything but it was a plastic channel and I got nowhere near the pump impeller.

    Hey! Thx so much for the walk through! We've had it for many years and this is the first time we've done it! And so far, it's removed all the water and it's not come back! Your instructions were perfect and the tip about the shop vac and going slow was spot on! My back doesn't think so, but my floor does! :P Thx again for taking the time to do this and sorry for your cut, also helped me decide to wear gloves! Your awesome!

    The alignment for the pipe cap is obvious because it is “keyed” with a notch. Also, don’t close up the access port before running the machine to make sure your seal is good, and not leaking! It took me four attempts to get the thing to seal well. I thought it was grit in the threads causing the leaking, but ultimately I got a good seal only after washing the silicone flange on the cap under hot water. There was muck stuck behind it. BTW, my machine was draining during the drain cycle - I could hear it - but not during the spin. The culprit was a small piece of plastic in the trap.

    Wish I'd seen this earlier, before I made the mess on the floor with all the water within the pump, etc. Vacuum is a great idea. I found, heaven forbid, a quarter that had blocked the complete hole in the middle of the 'diverter/coin trap.' Along with spin problems in normal wash cycle when the 'spin' was selected it would pump for about 2 minutes then the display would change to 0.02. I thought it was indicating 2 minutes left and never gave a thought to it. I guess the coin prevented water removal in a timely manner which shut down the machine. This caused all kinds of problems with the normal cycles also. Too many to list. Other video's didn't really address the 'Nexxt' and how much a plugged discharge could cause.

    Had trouble reinstalling the cap and damaged it from trying to untighten it with a pliers. The grit had worked its way onto the threads, I was going to try some petroleum jelly to prevent minor leaks. I ended up using a 3-1/2" repair plug by Test-Tite which I ground down around the edges so that it would fit around the flanges. did find a worn down nickel in the trap!

    As you look at the unscrewed trap plug housing; at 6:30 we see a slot in the housing that accepts the funny looking plug. Align this plug with that protruding flat edge and then push the plug in to start it touching the screw threads and then screw in the plug. So a little care in alignment will make it easy to start the screw threads of the plug. See my video about the 500plus model drain pump replacement when the washer will not cycle due to failure of the drain pump motor. When the drain pump fails; this will cause an error code and the washer will sit there and not let the water drain out of the tub. Make a plastic clear drain funnel by taking a same size hand soap bottle and cut it for the funnel with the screw cap end being your handle and an additional nickle sized hole cut in the upper shoulder where the sides of the bottle start to draw into the neck of the container. With this funnel you will not be required to use a wet vac to drain the water in the tub. VRolfe Chicago

    Thank you for these tips. Does this process fix the sour smell that I have begun to have despite always keeping the door open when not in use and running a water-and-chlorine-bleach only rinse every few months?

    • @dr_920
      @dr_920 5 років тому +1

      I just got an old Bosch, which has the same sour smell. The problem is the gasket got blocked at the bottom, causing the water to stay and mold generate. I asked a tech to help me. He just wiped out the dirt around the gasket, cleaned the filter at the right corner of the machine, and used a plier to reopen the small holes at the bottom of the gasket. He told me to run the machine several times. I am waiting for the results, but the smell does decrease a lot.

    • @francesbreen1973
      @francesbreen1973 4 роки тому

      Wiping out the gasket with a rough cloth every so often will keep it fresh, and draining. Also, run a “quick wash” cycle with a little detergent, but no laundry, about once a month. Add some vinegar in the rinse cup.

    Thank you very much for that video! I can send you some bitcoin for that help, it prevent me to pay someone ;-) The vacuum was a pretty nice idea until it started to send water everywhere in the room (I had a paper bag in place inside). I simply open the hole and let the water flow up to the room drain, remove all the trash (and a
    washcloth) and do some cleanup, put back the and then put a ventilator in front of the hole at max all night, then close the while circle hole. It then works perfectly. Thanks again!
