- How to remove and clean filter on Bosch Washing Machine & keep it Hygienically Fresh.
In this video I will show you how to remove the Bosch Pump Filter (also known as Bosch Coin catcher), check for debris, give it a good clean and re-install. It's a common problem which is why you should check all pockets in your laundry before starting a Washing machine cycle.
If your Bosch Washing Machine is not draining water properly or is smelly, it is likely to be a blocked Bosch pump filter.
If you hear any Washing Machine strange noises around the pump filter then don't wait for it to break, clean out that Bosch washing machine filter as soon as you can. It will save you money and hassle.
How to clean Bosch Serie 4:Serie 6 Washing Machine Pump Filter ideally is an annual job if you can do that. The washing machine filter will get dirty anyway.
As you are cleaning the filter I will also show you how to clean the Bosch dispenser drawer, the dispenser drawer area and the drum rubber and then we will run a Drum Clean super hot wash at 90C to keep the Bosch Washing Machine hygienically fresh using Washing Machine Cleaner.

Thanks for your great video,its helpful, but My one the front lid doesn't come off and I have 1.5cm to the floor. So water will just slop over the outside lid. Honestly you'd think they'd have designed a simple fold out rubber lip by 2024 to stop all the gungy water seeping back I'm through the frame. Thanks bosch.

I had no idea about the absolutely identical, Serie 4 Bosch Washing Machine filter cleaning process. My washing was not coming out smelling clean. Followed your steps and found a world of shyte gumming up the filter, plus one of my daughter’s hair grips! The advice to turn the filter cover back as well as forwards was a life saver for me .
Mine was rock solid and I couldn't move it .Turning it anti clock wise and then clockwise several times with increasing movement did the trick .

I have just cleaned my own Bosch Exxcel 1400 Express washing machine filters and have also replaced my wife' and daughter' toothbrushes to exactly where I first found them in the tooth-brush plastic cup holder in the bath-room as per your instructions .. thx so much! me wishy washy smells nice now 🙃

Amazing. I was getting this error message and managed to pry open the filter with a pair of grips… inside I found 95 pence, a huge gross lump of dog hair, lolly pop stick and random bits of elastic. Needless to say it’s working better now! Thanks

Thank you for this great tutorial! I only recently learned that there was a filter that needed cleaning. I've had my machine for nine years and for months have put off cleaning the thing (heard about the smell!). It actually wasn't that bad! What WAS gross was all the gunk I found under the rubber ring (not smelly, just slimy!). Job done! Threw a couple of cleaning tabs in the drum to let the machine finish the work. :)

Got told to clean the filter but had no idea how to access it. Went over a year and a half not cleaning it but honestly was barely even dirty at all surprisingly, and the water actually was completely clean and transparent and did not smell barely at all.
At least now I know where to find it, how to open it, and how to clean it. Had a slightly different version of this machine, but for the most part everything applied.

Perfect explanation. Got the filter out, but because there was a sock stuck in there, it sheared as it finally turned. Just ordered a new filter from Bosch.

@@LurgsHowToGuides you sure did! Found a cabinet key in the filter. The dirty work was the rubber seal around the door! I flushed it on the setting you described with hot water (btw we are in Turkey and everything is in Turkish so you really helped by showing the drum clean, it translated as something different, but in the same place) and i did actually use my wife old toothbrush to clean it 😆 you are awesome

Thanks for the video, I recently bought a Bosch series 6 washing machine. In the process of connecting the machine I opened the filter… to my surprise the filter is dripping water while I haven’t even used the machine. I’m worried I’ve been sold a pre-owned machine
I think that is common as they do a test run before they leave factory so can be water in the filter. But worth checking dispenser drawer area to make sure it’s immaculate. A used one would look used

@@LurgsHowToGuides One thing to watch is that some washing machine cleaners produce a lot of foam. I used half a bottle of Almat as per their instructions and it was like a 1960's horror film with foam spurting out of the detergent drawer. The Rolling Stones "Only Rock and Roll" video will never be the same again.

thanks for your suggestion. I have a difficulty to pull out the pump filter after I turn to left. It seems very tight.
Sounds like something is stuck in there, try tightening and untightening and see if it works loose

You just have to be a bit more forceful without breaking it! I bet it’s a metal hair clip
@@briandavies9610 I had same thing going on. I've used pliers and the plastic knob broke. Had to bring a pro to undo the plastic screw cap from the back - there's another way of doing it but it's a hassle. Turned out all kind of things were trapped in there preventing the plastic thing from turning left to unscrew.
get some pliers or grips and pull out hard, wiggling.

Great video! Behind that bottom panel you’ve got the host on the left, the screw filter in the middle and on the right a black pin/clip, I’ve got water leaking down from that, any ideas??

Great informative video. Unfortunately, I have done all you mentioned - my Bosch compact series 500 washer is clean but still gets a funky smell after a day or so. Ongoing issue for me. I have used Affresh and clean filters/compartments/gasket regularly. I live in a condo in NYC, 2nd floor, maybe a contributor based on the line? Do you recommend cleaning the pump? Do you have a video on that. Thank you so much!
Doubt it’s the pump. It will be the drainage pipework that is probably full of gunge. Where the washing machine drains you need to check that pipe to see if that smells or is blocked

No need for hot water connection, the washing machine heats it's own water up from the cold connection.
I have a Bosch Vision 500 series washer and the filter door at the bottom is not visible is it in the back or is it that broad panel in the front?

Probably a stupid question but do these machines have a lint catcher or the dryer like a normal stand alone dryer does?
I don’t think they do but different machines may vary. I’m not keen on washer dryers, much better to have separate machines but obviously depends if you have enough space. We’ve got a condenser tumble dryer so it collects water, nice and easy to run
My Bosch Ascenta came with a stiff clear plastic sheet covering the whole filter and drain tube area. It's held by small Phillips screws that I don't have a small enough screw driver to remove. What is the function of that plastic sheet and can I just cut it over to access the drain tube and filter?
I've not come across that before, is it brand new? Maybe it's mentioned in the manual?

Hi there! I’ve got a question re: Check Drain error on Bosch washer & dryer units. Would the Check Drain error message interact & effect the other unit? Asking for a Friend😛
If it’s a washer dryer the dryer part would be ok. But if there’s a drainage error the filter and pipework needs checking and clearing

My washing machine does not have drum cleaning or service options. The temp max is 60°, is this still OK for cleaning?
Try a Cotton setting this should go up to a higher temperature
Can’t find the draining pipe? Also filter knob rotate on 1/3 and doesn’t come out. It is serie 4 and bought it around 2018
Possibly it doesn't have a drainage pipe but I'm sure it should, is it not trapped further up?
Filter not turning will be a metal hairclip probably, just try tightening up and untightening and hopefully it will clear. If not you may have to get a bit more forceful with it, but be careful as it's only plastic. Good luck.

I've done this before and had no problem but this time it is absolutely impossible to remove the pump cover. It is stuck and I am sure there is something there causing the problem. The machine is making a noise during the washing. Can you please help me to solve this? Beatriz
Do you mean you can’t remove the actual filter unscrewing? Try tightening it up and untightening to see if the debris works it way loose. May have to get a bit forceful with it but be careful as it’s a plastic filter. I bet it’s a metal hair clip stuck in there. Just keep trying . Good luck
@@LurgsHowToGuides I had this problem ,couldn't budge it even using (carefullu) pliers .But ,still using pliers ,I eased it one way ,then the other serveral times .And success ,was able to unscrew.
