Mosaic Crochet Along Pattern 8 - Easy Beginner Friendly Tutorial - MULTIPLE 10+6

  • Опубліковано 18 кві 2020
  • Note: I was off on my starting chain by one stitch less then I needed, if you follow the tutorial and how I start and do the repeat as explained your pattern will turn out perfectly. I apologize for the confusion.
    THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR A BEGINNER CROCHETER AS WELL AS A PERSON WHO IS NEW TO THIS TECHNIQUE.
    To purchase the Chart for this pattern please visit my Etsy shop here: fiberfoxstudios.etsy.com/list...
    Welcome to the pattern 8! This is the last pattern for this CAL.
    I have a lot more Mosaic designs to share and will be putting out tutorials for Mosaics that use a different Multiple to start.
    Mosaic crochet is great for all skill levels and can be used to create many different things such as blankets, pillows, purses/bags, totes and garments. You can crochet these patterns in any combination you would like or just choose one and make and entire project with the same design. The result will be an eye catching, geometric design that is unisex and versatile.
    My goal is to put out a minimum of 1 pattern per week.
    Pattern 1 [2 Part Tutorial]
    Part 1: • Mosaic Crochet Along (...
    Part 2: • Mosaic Crochet Along (...
    Pattern 2: • Mosaic Crochet Along (...
    Pattern 3: • Mosaic Crochet Along P...
    Pattern 4: • Mosaic Crochet Along (...
    Pattern 4 continued for additional repeats of the pattern can be seen here: • Mosaic Crochet Pattern...
    Pattern 5: • Mosaic Crochet Along P...
    Pattern 6 video #1: • Mosaic Crochet Along P...
    Pattern 6 continues: • Mosaic Crochet Along (...
    Pattern 7: • Mosaic Crochet Along-P...
    HOOK SIZE: 5.5 mm for a blanket but if you are doing a bag of any kind or using size 3 yarn I would use a 4.5 mm to 5 mm or smaller.
    THE YARN: I'm using size 4 and mixing in a few colors that are size 3 DK. THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN! You can use any yarn size you like.
    To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 10 plus 6 at the end. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 36 and had 35 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row.
    Stitches used in this project: Back Loop Single Crochet and Front Loop Double Crochet (drop down double crochet as I like to call it).
    Please use #fiberfoxstudiosCAL when posting pictures of your work so I can see!

    ATTENTION: At 6:52, she makes an error when she starts the new color (white). She gets the color on the hook, pulls it through the first stitch, and then does a chain 1. After that, she continues the mosaic pattern by going into the back loop of the next stitch -- this is wrong. She's supposed to go back into that *same first stitch* one more time, pull up another loop, and finish out the single crochet, *then* go into the back loop of the next stitch. She does it correctly at 9:11, so if you want to know how to start the new color correctly, skip ahead to 9:11. If you do it exactly as she does it in the video, you'll have to frog.
    No disrespect, Fiber Fox! I just wanted others to know where the error occurred so they wouldn't have to keep wondering where they went wrong like I did. I love your videos, and thanks so much for this awesome pattern! :)

Send it over and I will take a look and maybe I can figure out a way to teach the technique without doing the exact pattern. Ya Kym you definately could, I'm thinking you will need decrease by one chain and then the traditional single crochet will no longer be needed. You would slip stitch into that stitch as you come around and do your first back loop only crochet starting in THAT stitch you are doing the slip stitch in to maintain your count. Then you would crochet just as the video shows for the rest of the row. Hope that makes sense. Let me know when you try it!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there! I'm actually sitting down to film a video about how you can use different mosaics that have varied multiples together. It's all in the math really any mosaic can be worked together. Some will actually work out perfectly while others you may have to add a few bk loop sc to the beginning and ends of the row so you don't have an odd end of the row with part of a pattern. I personally don't mind that and typically just wing it since the patterns are so busy any little difference at the end of a row is lost in the total design. Stay tuned though as hopefully the video will be helpful. I'm hoping to release it tomorrow as part of my Mosaic Monday series.

    I chained 40 + 6. For some reason I dont have enough stitches to do 7 sc in bl and regular sc in last st. ??? Help

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  4 роки тому +2

      You should have 45 stitches right now (that sixth stitch is a turning chain at the beginning of row 1) you may have dropped a stitch at the end of a previous row OR missed your very first stitch in the row when joining back on. Believe me I've done it Myself! But if you can't fit 7 bl sc do the 6 that you can and do the sc in the last stitch. Then continue on as normal and adjust as needed there at the end. I hope this helps you but if not, please feel free to email pictures and I'd be happy to take a look! Fiberfoxstudios@gmail.com

Lol it's a lot of work on those ends but I enjoy the mosaics so much I just fight through it lol. I came up with a way that makes it faster to deal with them and I have s video on this playlist for the Cal showing what I do...BUT you still have to deal with every tail so I totally understand where you are coming from!!!!

    Hi!! Thanks a lot for this beautiful pattern!!! I have a question, thought :) Why do yo add 6 stiches?? I want to crochet a bracelet and if I have 36 stiches it would be very long....I'm knew in this technique :) !!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you so much! Those stitches are there to even out the design at start and end of row, one of them is a turning chain since you chain and do Row 1 in the sane color.. You can chain less, so let's say for a bracelet you chain 20 + 6 at the end for a total of 26 chains. You will have 2 repeats of the design on the row of the design. Do 16 chains and you have 1 repeat ofvthe design.
      If you want to work it in the round you would drop the +6 off and only chain in the multiple of 10, slip stitch to form a ring and then you just work up creating a tube basically. This is one of my very early designs and I was still learning myself the best way to do these and the tutorials so if you want to try in the round I can check the chart and see what exactly you would need to do since I didn't give that info in this video.
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому

      I do single crochets with a chain 2 at the actual corner then resume the repeat down the next side of the project. Hope this helps, but if not,, check out the HOW TO playlist on my channel. There is a video on borders if what I'm describing isn't really helping you with your question. 😁

  • @denisewinant6366

    I did 60 + 6...so 65 after 1st row. So I had 2 stitches left where you only had 1 left after row 4. So do I do a drop down 1 more on row 4. You didn't. But I have a bigger swatch. Now I am so confused.

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  4 роки тому +1

      Hi denise, I believe I missed a stitch on my foundation row. If you have the space for the last drop down in the repeat you will do it in that extra space sorry about that, I had tried to add a bit about this in the description and pin some comments about what I did wrong. I sincerely apologize but if you follow the repeat you will always be good to go on these.

      Itss going to depend on the size blanket and the type of yarn used. I've sold mosaic baby blankets made with primarily Acrylic yarn for $75 to $130 just to give you an idea. More patterns and colors involved the higher the price, Another great place to get ideas on pricing is Etsy.

      @@joseeferriere4080 you are soo talented!!!! So happy to know you are enjoying these! Don't worry, mosaics are the most popular tutorials on my channel so I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. New pattern every Monday! If you haven't see the Mosaic Monday Playlist yet please check it out. That's where all the new tutorials go and the Native Bliss CAL is there but also has a playlist to group those videos together. Thank you so much for your sweet compliments!

    One more thing that’s not said…am I wrong…are all the “yarn ends” are all on one side…don’t think I should continue until someone could be kind enough to let me know…thanks so much.

      You have a tail at the start of the row unless you work over it (i recommendbinding off the row stsrt tail as well just to be clear) . You will have tails at the end of every row as well. I believe its the 4th or 5th video in the CAL that goes Over all the ends in more detail . Thanks and hope this helps.

    I'm not sure where, but in your stitch along I believe you dropped a stitch or 2? I'm following along with 26ch[25st] and I'm able to fit a 3rd drop down on my 4th row.
    Your example at the beginning of the video also has 3 drop downs instead of 2, which also makes me think you may have dropped 1 😅
    Bugging me that I cant figure out where though
    This is just to let everyone in the comments who is following along aware, so that if they wonder why they may look a stitch or 2 off from you at the end of the row, this is possibly why
    I mean no disrespect

      Hi Brie, no problem at all!!!! I do not take it that way! Very possibly could have dropped one and I bet I did it at the very end of a previous row. Its easy to do that. Thanks for letting me know. I will pin the comment too so others will see it as well in case it causes confusion. Appreciate your help and catching that!!!

      I actually restarted twice because I couldn't figure out where I went wrong. I had to remind myself to have faith in the creator (lol) and go with the flow. It worked out beautifully. Seems to be a universal theme these days. 💗🌺🐝

      Pattern # 8 its just a Greek key variation but it was part of a sampler CAL so its just numbered for its name.

      @FiberFoxStudios  Рік тому

      It's a $2.00 USD pattern on my etsy shop so I don't know where the 16.99 pound is coming from. But also I do give this full pattern away for free right here so no need to actually buy it even with conversion rates it shouldn't cost that much. Maybe you have multiple copies in your cart by accident. Not sure. Hope that helps.

    There are plenty of videos out there for people who don’t know how to make a single crochet. It’s really painful to sit through this video because 2/3 of it is you telling me stuff I already know how to do

      Sabrina Tschäß what’s your problem ? This is the 2nd tutorial you’ve left nasty comments can you not read ? It says BEGINNER FRIENDLY ! Now that means it’s inclusive of people who are learning ! If your so advanced and find it painful to sit through these tutorials that Courtney has taken the time to make for us Beginners maybe you should go elsewhere or even better if your that advanced start your own channel and speed through everything as fast as you like 😊
