If italy ever builds a sequel moon base big enough to have businesses, and the first restaurant isn’t a traditional Italian pizzeria, I will be disappointed
Can‘t wait for moon pizza
Vegetarian with a crispy base.
Thales Alenia Space is a French and Italian company, but habitat space modules are made by the Italian branch in Tourin.
In particular is remarkable that more of 50% of ISS was made in Tourin, the cargo module of Space Shuttle and European ATV were made here, the actual American Cygnus cargo module is still made here, the future habitat modules of the Axiom space station will be made here, and three of the lunar gateway modules will be made here. So at this moment in Italy is made the most part of the habitat modules in space actually and in the next future, so it's not so strange that the first surface lunar habitation modules will be made here. More over ASI (Italian Space Agency) have an historical direct partnership with NASA that starts before ESA was born, and this collaboration continue today too on the Artemis Programme and other common projects.
I had no idea Italy was such a big contributor to human spaceflight and exploration. In fact, I didn't know they were at all.
Guess you learn something every day!
Italy has been a major space manufacturer in all fields for decades, from satellites to rockets, and also has one of the largest space centers and teleports in the world in the Fucino valley in central Italy. A center of excellence with over fifty years of history behind it: in 2018 it received the prestigious full certification awarded by the World Teleport Association
Telespazio's "Piero Fanti" Space Center in Fucino (L'Aquila) has been active since 1963 and today, with its 170 antennas and its 370,000 m2 of surface area, it is recognized as the first and most important "teleport" in the world for civilians.
At the Fucino Space Center, in-orbit control activities of satellites, telecommunications, television and multimedia services are carried out. Operational logistics and field service functions are active to support the services provided. 250 employees work there, including engineers, specialized technicians and operational staff.
The Control Center of the COSMO-SkyMed Earth observation satellite constellation and one of the Control Centers that manage the European Galileo satellite navigation and localization system are located within Fucino.
The Italian Galileo Control Center (GCC-I) is an infrastructure of approximately 6,000 m2 which guarantees the processing and distribution of the navigation signal to satellites and the constant control of the quality of the service offered to end users. The network for the dissemination of data of the Galileo system (GDDN) is also managed from Fucino, which includes approximately fifty earth stations
Italian here, i knew it but trust me a lot of people here don't even know that ASI exist
американские модули мкс итальянцы делали.
I bet most italians don't know either unfortunately...
perche' non hai abbastanza cultura e non conosci l'italia
As an Italian, I'm really happy and proud about this!
Btw congrats on 200k subs. I remember you guys hitting 100k not that long ago, you're going up very fast. Well deserved!
I feel sorry for the poor fecker who gets sent to go and live in it 😢
Proud of what? Being able to draw a picture?
@@kokomo9764 TAS builds all the pressurized modules of Gateway. Even the structure of the NASA module is provided by TAS in Italy, but Northrop Grumman does the final assembly.
Their videos have become the cheapest of all as auto generated material. Last time they said "calendar" and it showed us a calendar with tampons next to it...
Did they even take the effort of writing their own text? Or is that AI too already?
It is a French+Italian company. So I expect great design, food, and matchless view.
So important for R&D and material science advancement.
Thales Alenia Space also makes the pressurized Pressurized Cargo Module and its enhanced version for the Northrop Grumman Cygnus spacecraft. They also built for NASA and the Italian Space Agency the Permanent Multi-Purpose Module (PMM) on ISS that was derived from the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module used on the space shuttle.
I really like your videos, they always have something that I haven't seen on other channels. Keep up the good work!!!
That moon base is going to have exquisite plumbing.
The image of the tin can/inflatable combo (5:00) suggests the luxury of living inside a watertank.
Not the sort of lunar habitat that SpaceX Fans like to imagine but the actual first lunar crews will be made of tough stuff.
"Thales" is pronounced "Ta-less" :)
It's not pronounced 'Thayles' - its 'Tal-ez' - One of the worlds largest defence and aerospace contractors !
Thank you! Every mispronunciation grated!
or is it tah-less
Good comments. Going to watch the vidio.
Thanks for good reporting.
Great vid as always. I think it’s pronounced ‘Tal-ez’ though 😜
Damn, the moon base i made in ksp looks exactly like the thumbnail😂
Sounds good!
Congrats on 2 bags 👍👍👍
Very cool. Thanks
We could easily use blow up habitats that go in pre dugout trenches then once there connected and inflated we either use 3D printed steel plates over the outside or lunar paste then cover that final layer with Lunar dust for a more natural surface look. Until we’re able to truly build amazing structures using Lunar dust
Really excited to be living in a time where many different orgs and countries are going to the moon. Looking forward to see what happens.
Thank you for the update. The space race is heating up and 2024 promises to be epic
Cold temps are really not much of an issue in a vacuum, especially with a pressurized habitat with humans in it. Most of the climate control in a space suit is COOLING, not heating. Without air for conduction and convection, all you have is radiation, which is terribly inefficient. With the habs, you might want some insulation on the parts contacting the surface, but I'm not sure even that would be necessary. It is actually for this reason that the Apollo missions had the craft rotating slowly during its transit, not just to prevent thermal stress from solar heating on only one side of the craft, but also to keep that heat from building up and heating the interior as much.
One thing though, meteors crash into the moon all of the time, what's to stop a meteor from crashing directly into their modules? Seems too risky to me
Hope this new space race keeps going. Spacex has got something started. I just hope we don’t take war where we go. Like the moon and mars.
Finally! A perfect espresso in one sixth G!
That temperature is close to absolute zero, I thought there is nothing in space that is that cold.
I'm more interested in orbital station around the moon. Then, beacons are placed on the Moon surface to record information about the conditions on the surface of the Moon, radiation exposure and underground anomalies ( magma chambers/channels or water source) and the possibility of caverns.
I could see this being used to house the construction crew who builds a permanent base for industral purposes.
I would think Piaggio would be involved somehow. Maybe a MoonVespa.
So it'll have Gucchi stitched on the outside and cost 5 times more than everyone else's modules.
Sure it might be within the capacity of some existing rockets to get it into lunar orbit... but how do you actually get it on the surface of the moon (let's imagine a future where Starship doesn't work out)?
Please call the first habitat module on the moon is linguini
The "Blue Moon" lander presented in the image (8:50) was the original model, rejected by NASA in 2021.
The new "Blue Moon", that NASA awarded the 2nd Option Contract, is totally reusable and sustainable (hydrogen engines, cheap in situ rocket fuel).
We should make and international spacestation at the Moon too. Everybody just send a module on the way to the moon. Plus try to commercialize it making it cheap to vacation on the moon.
I hope to see Italy join the US and China as among the great space powers
Yeah, China, seriously.
But why would space X even do launches for Amazon? Kuiper seems like a direct competitor to starlink so why help them get off of the ground? Seems like a counter intuitive business strategy.
I hope this leads to a spacex-BO partenership
Y’all seen those inflatable dome bedroom things? Would those hold up in space? Or is the pressure too great?
the space race is going crazy
Can we reuse modules or parts from the ISS for the new "gateway" around the moon or even for habitats on the moons surface? It seems pretty wasteful to just let the ISS burn up in the atmosphere when it is decomissioned.
Thanks for the nice video!
Not for the gateway... deep space radiation are too strong for the actual ISS modules.
Damn Italy came out of nowhere wit this
I stayed . until the first commercial so I saw one minute 😂
I‘m so happy for Italy. Forza Italia zioooooo!!!!
Thales makes weapons. Very good ones.
Italy 🇮🇹 I'm excited for you! 😊
Any updates on the UK space agency?
We know there are large lava tubes on the moon. I don't get why they're not building inside those, underground where there's no radiation and temperatures
How very Kerbal looking.
That's what I thought 😂
I've owned an Alfa Romeo...I'm not frikkin getting in that thing in the vacuum of space!
Is a new habit catching meteorites!
At first I thought it was a backyard grill LOL
Kinda looks like it was built by Stockton Rush.
I think we should have a lunar space station with craft going too and from the surface!?
Modular transient vehicles only needed on the surface!
We will. Its part of the plan🎉

3:00 "Life support" show us the pizza oven ;-)
What about radiations from the Sun (and cosmic radiation too)? On the ISS you can spend months without worrying about it too much since it's still protected by the Earth's magnetic field, but on the Moon you have no protection at all (or very little), and you can spend only a few days on the surface. What's the solution to that? Are the astronauts simply going to spend less time on the Moon and get more rotation? Are the modules going to include more shielding, meaning more weight? With Starship, weight is not going to be that big of a problem, but still.
Song: On the moon again. Just can't wait to get back on to the moon again.
We better start collaborating seriously.
That looks like some cool tech here. My concern is the radiation that hit the Moon surface. Does this module provide adequate protection from radiation exposure? The Moon has 0 atmosphere and ozone to filter radiation from the sun 🌞. You must provide protection for future Space Exploration Science Team. Otherwise the Astronauts will have to hastily tried back to the lander for protection. I would investigate further on the Moon dust. Dust doesn't disturb itself, therefore some sort of underground anomaly is taking place. I wouldn't place a module anywhere near places that have frequent disturbances on the Moons Surface
PS Thales - Alenia is an Italian - French company!
Les goo Italy we makeda meatball on the moon
Looks like a big porta potty.🚀👽👍
At least they will have decent pizza on the moon
hope europe is gonna pick up the pace we're pretty far behind and nobody hear about it

@@garrystubbs4891 thx for this but in what situation it's supposed to be we're instead of were ?
@@lycantrique3570 You have edited your original comment. This is called ‘gaslighting’.
@@garrystubbs4891 isn't gaslighting supposed to be about deceiving or something like that I change it because you corrected me ?
Hi Bob.
Hi Bob.
They will need tie downs to these.
We Talk about space travel to the moon and Mars
Like it is a Gameplay
Straight forward.
👍👍👍
Would like to know how well it protects against cosmic radiation.
Just as an FYI... "Thales" is a huge (really huge) French multinational. It is pronounced as TA-LESS in French.
living in a cold tube, with no gravity for long periods of time sounds like torture. i'll stay on earth.
Can you get a Campari there?
Is that a fiat punto? 🤔
Thales is pronounced as Ta-les amigo. Another great video
Pretty good video. I would just ask that you choose a different way of transitioning from one image to the next, especially when you do the "split into several pieces with some going up, some going down". Your graphics are excellent as they are, You don't need any "artsy" transitions between them. It's just visually annoying.
Is it a bird? A plane?
No its the Italienes!
Ah a lot of Nations have made a crude landing already , Russia did one not long ago, and Japan too, they have made their own craters even.
If Italy does not turn the Moon into a big pizza pie I'm going to swear off parmigiana Reggiano forever.
So its a moon base on paper, I got a shit ton of those also. Some look exactly like theirs. Weird.
crying knowing I'll never have a gricia on the moon
Italians in outer space, with fishtanks on their heads.
Major New Rocket Launches - should be labeled successful with an asterisk!
Cost really is something important to keep in mind. Especially with the economy as turbulant as it is.
Artemis has no provisions for a permanent outpost on the surface, and likes to talk about accessing the entire surface for research. It woild be important to start cheap and safe (even if we make something safer later on with half-buried modules)
They don't need to plan all of their base facilities in detail right now. Building and testing the rocket(s) that will be used to get there is the priority right now.
Starship's projected ability to deliver up 100 tons of freight was a consideration when the HLS contract was awarded. If you can haul 100t of freight on every mission, a permanent base is a more practical goal than it would be if the freight limit was significantly lower (as it is with every alternative landing system) and/or the volume available for freight was significantly smaller (as it is with every alternative landing system). When you have the capacity - both weight and volume - to carry the equivalent of a D-9 Cat bulldozer, you can build what you need for shelter and workshops.
SpaceX need to demonstrate the projected vehicle capabilities that helped them win the contracts. They will. Given them a bit of time.
I expect it to have good food.
someone could smuggle a camera into space and bring back a photo of the earth or stars
As Nixon said after we lost the moon to the soviets, "the race for the base" has begun
Habitation** ❤
I don’t see how Amazon will reach their satellite quota in two years.
waiting for moon dust pizza
It’s 2023! We should have had moon bases in the 1990s.
The moon base is pretty exciting stuff . I wish that humans were not so obsessed with hating and killing each other . we seem to be in a constant state of war . I suppose that the money is just too good to stop, or we might have several habs already on the moon . wondering how they will solve the radiation problem.
Great news that the Europeans are so active in space
Great video. Btw, it is pronounced "Ta-les"
Italy space base hello!back in 1969 we had regular rocket service to the moon 😅Neil Armstrong would drive around in moon buggies hitting golf balls drinking tang the space drink and then go back to lunar lander for a crap a nap and some TV before blasting off back to earth! With less computer power than my phone! Yawning tell me when you invent the indoor tiolet😊
Beer cans and outdoor barbecuers😂😂😂
I can see these being used to build communities with modern technology built right in, all around our own planet. Yes we should plan to build on the moon but we should apply the technology here at home.
I’m no rocket scientist, but why is there no habitat already sitting on the moon collecting oxygen from the regolith and self testing the unit for leaks etc.
Yes got one of these in my front yard, tell the owners to come a.d remove it. Ths
The ESA hasn't even been able to land anything on the moon and Italy already wants to talk about a moon base?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
has a pizza oven?
They won’t go for the same reason we didn’t
