Another beautiful video! Abolone was awesome to see. Sounds like BC and WA are in the same boat regarding their decline/poaching. Huge black rock and sweet cabbie at the end!
Another great video! I can see why you like that last spot, so much diversity! The change in the islands off Egmont is stunning. Last time I was there you could barely see the bottom because of the kelp, it's sad that it's become another urchin barren!
Yeah man, pretty sad. You were the diver I was referring to BTW incase you didn't put that together lol. Still a nice spot, I wish we were encouraged/aloud to go and smash them all to bits.
@@emeraldsky8009 no sweat man. I'm still happy we got to check it out. It's really sickening what's happening around our coast. Hopefully the starfish waste syndrome stays at bay. Another flare up could take out the small remaining sunstar populations. That's a scary thought...
Thanks dude! My dive buddy and I sell dive lights. We have our own company and the strap is included. I believe divingsports also sells similar straps separately tho.
Those scallops are making me hungry! I think you can harvest them up north near Comox area. From what I heard from a friends, sister's, cousin is that you have to get your knife in before they close to tight.
Yeah, that's one of the few places I've seen them open too. Usually close to oyster farms as they do more rigorous testing. And that's one method! Or pry the shell off the rock.
I love scallops. Unfortunately they are closed in the area I was in though. I try not to share locations as they would see a huge spike in traffic. Nothing personal, it's more out of respect for the ecosystem. Sorry dude!
Sad to see the urchin problem is even up north. Here in Ca and Or we can no longer dive for any species of abalone. Our red abalone fishery will not likely reopen for thirty to forty years at best. Long after I'm gone! The world is changing, and not for the best - enjoy what you still can.
Yeah man, it really suck. And I feel like bit enough is being done. I'd love to go smash up urchin, even though it wouldn't do much in the grand scheme, but at least it's something. Currently our regs don't permit it and there doesn't seem to much talk about making it happen. I hope the starfish waste syndrome stays at pay it that will be game over for the kelp.
@@PNWSamson Unfortunately, the urchins live for decades, can live without food long after everything else has died off, and they have no value to a commercial fishery. Unless there is a comeback of the starfish who prey on them the bottom will continue to look like a moonscape covered with urchins.
Yeah man, super depressing. And the kelp disappearing will just be the beginning. I'm pretty pessimistic when it comes to the ocean though. I'd love to look at the bright side if there was one... I think we are witnessing the beginning to the end and no one seems to care. But God forbid I spear a fish right?
Visibility around the lower mainland is hit and miss. Around the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, close to the long term parking facing the breakwater is a fun spot to snorkel. Also, if you hike down 1001 step beach in whiterock and turn left and walk out to Kwomais Point, that's a great spot. Kwomais Point is my favorite local snorkel. Once the boarder opens, Lily Point in Port Roberts is lots of fun.
Sunshine coast? You'd have to drive to the horseshoe Bay berry which is roughly an hour from Whistler. The ferry is 45 mins and from there about an hour to Egmont. The second spot is on Vancouver islands west coast and that would take roughly 5-6 hours to reach from Whistler.
Very great nature video in Vancouver Island of sea🌴🎧🎈
Thanks! So much life and diversity!

This was extremely beautiful. Thank you.
No worries! I just made fish cakes out of that Cabezon last Friday. They were delicious!
What a great time! Thanks Chris and Achraf!

Thanks man! Yeah, those damn poachers. Pretty selfish. I wish they were caught and held accountable. And cheers man, some good eating for sure!

@@PNWSamson Haha, I guessed it was me. Sorry the spot didn't work out! Yea just watching the urchins is frustrating.

Beautiful BC scenery above and below the water. Do seals ever come check you out? What was that at 4:26 of the vid?
Thanks! That was a sea cucumber. And sometimes, I find them to be more shy than sea lions. They usually watch us from 15-20m away.
So many scallops at your second dive spot...09:22
Yeah man, littered with them! Unfortunately they are closed in that area
Nice video! Where is your flashlight wrist mount from?

Nice Video,any sharks?
Haha no. I wish though, I've get to see one while diving!
What a great spot. I tried to figure out where it was but no joy. Any clues? If it was me I would’ve picked some of those scallops.

I have a concern, do great white sharks swim around bc water😥?
I believe tagged ones have been in BC waters but way off shore. It's definitely not a concern, thankfully.
what cameras did you use to make this? thx
I film with a Gopro 9 and for the long lens a Sony AX53.
Is there any place that I can go snorkeling in lower mainland?( without taking ferry) I went to whytecliff and water was so murky.

Do you happen to know the brand/model of boat your buddy has??
