Hi Chris, thanks for the information and I have a question. What were you wearing for gloves and footwear? I checked stores here in the lower mainland. Diving locker, ocean pro, Rowands reef, and from your website which was Divingsports(unfortunately its temporarily closed). Do you wear boots or neoprene socks?
@@alexdurden2745 hey dude! Saw your other post. Check that for a response! Thanks for this post though, just realized I made this comment on the wrong video haha
Like # 212 .... I'm late...lets watch lol ❤🍻 That was extremely informative. I wondered why my shirt pressed tighter, when i had to dive for my fishing rod lol. Was about 25ft, and my ears didn't like it! I literally could become a diver with what you shared. Extremely helping. PBR CHEERS 🍻
What’s better a 1 piece wetsuit or a 2 piece? Why? I seem to be leaning towards a one piece. Could you please recommend a 7mm suit for Nanaimo & surrounding areas? The local dive shop is completely out of free diving suits. Should I try one on before I buy it? I’m built short and stocky. 5’9” 210. If I should try one on where should I even go on the island? Complete rookie here and kind of overwhelmed by all the info. Looking to get into the sport both of free diving and spear fishing eventually. Lots to learn, lots of gear needed as I quite literally have nothing other than snorkel gear for Nanaimo river. Is bottom dwellers still offering courses during the winter? Any info greatly appreciated.
Hey man, for sure get a 2 piece. And ensure its open cell neoprene and also freediving/spearfishing specific. It's hard to recommend a suit as each one will fit your body differently. I'd call up Divingsports in Vancouver, give them your dimensions and they will recommend a suit based on that. 7mm is the thickness you'll need but if the suit doesn't fit properly you'll be cold. Hope that helps!
Great videos man. I really appreciate what you’re doing. I feel like I hit the jackpot to learn some essential info super quickly. Hope to get out in the water soon you’ve inspired me.
Thanks man! I wanted to get into freediving and spearfishing and I'm glad I found your channel, really like your videos, so following your suggestions I'm going to get my certification soon. Nothing is more important than health 100%.
Hello there. Got the recommend from washington fish quest youtube site and have been loving it since. New to the west coast, I'm a Transplant from Saskatchewan to BC moved here a year and a bit ago. I love the ocean and glad to hear your recommendations for free diving schools. I have just been doing a little bit of top water skin diving in the summer. But think I might try and get myself a wetsuit. Cheers sir love the channel.
Thanks man and go for it! We have a pretty amazing backyard here. Happy you like the channel. Blake is a great guy, hopefully we can get together when the boarder opens up. Stay safe man and thanks for the comment!
Open cell suits are just as warm as dry suits imo. Especially for freediving. Spearfishing while on scuba is not illegal in BC but many people frown upon it. It's pretty easy on breath hold, scuba takes away any of the challenges.
I've been looking into the various outfits you mentioned in the video, there are lots of options! I recognize PADI, but there are like 3 others certifying bodies too that I hadn't heard of. Which organization do you recommend? I'm mostly interestee in spear fishing and hand harvesting. It seems like most courses require you to have all your own gear which is a pretty big upfront expense. Do dive shops rent gear for these courses? And final question, do you always dive in a group or can you safely dive alone too? Thanks! I love your videos, they're really inspiring me to get out there myself!
I loved your videos! Would you post the Facebook groups you mentioned on this video in words, can seems to find them. I am living in Hong Kong, I stay at North Delta whenever I come back for visit. Hope can have more info for spearfishing BC. BTW I spearfish in HK also :p, it is a great sport!

Hi Chris.. Thanks for your informative video. I've been spearfishing for over 10 years. I just moved over to Toronto from Dubai over a year ago. I'm sick of trying to find ways around the regulations of spearfishing in Toronto, so I think I'm going to drive down to BC next week and hopefully move over there for good. I have all the gear, guns and widgets I need, but I'd appreciate your company in the water.

@@PNWSamson i wish it was 7mm it 3mm in the limbs and 4mm on the chest area. Its a full body summer surfing wetsuit but i use it whenever i go because i can't afford a better one.
Nice! I always seem to be fighting the annoying battle against a foggy mask.. With the baby shampoo, do you rinse after applying? I'll give it a try. Defogging solution is definitely expensive. Also, love the videos! Always fun and educational. Cheers from Vancouver island.
Great man, happy you enjoy them and find them helpful! I usually just put a small blob on and rub it around and rinse a bit in the ocean. Seems to do the trick for me. A buddy of mine also puts some on at home and lets it dry on the lens. There seems to be a few effective options.
Any tips on getting your parents to let you? Hmm, tell them they can have fresh seafood. Crabs all day haha that may help. Nice man, I love boxing. Still staying busy at the gym but haven't fought for a while. Just sparing.

@@isaiahhansen9566 cheers man that's awesome. We were told by one supervisor that we had to check the bag and it was okay. And the following trip we attempted to do that and a different supervisor said that was not permitted. We talked him into it eventually but he said it was a one time exception. He wanted us to completely disassemble the gun and everything it was crazy haha. Going forward I avoid any drama and make sure my gun is well hidden and just carry it onboard haha
Redaction: I've cut my self imposed yearly limit to 4. I believe this to be a more appropriate harvest.
