Ah yes, that look they shared across the room over the piano - sooooo perfectly expressive of the moment they realized that they were in love with each other.
Dwie dumy i dwa uprzedzenia.Lizzy łączy w tej powieści wodę z ogniem . Obdarza miłością i czarującym uśmiechem rodzinę i ludzi, których spotyka. Zawsze pięknieje w obecności p. Darcy . Jest pozytywnie dumna.
Had the Bennet parents not been so mismatched and disagreeable Elizabeth might not have had the edginess that intrigued and attracted Darcy, who no doubt was fed up with having everyone’s daughters thrown at him.
But neither of the other daughters had that edginess, so I'm more likely to believe it's mostly due to her inborn, temperamental qualities that got furtherly encouraged by her father.
@iodreamer Google results can vary per country, but I can find some pages about it if I put the whole term between brackets. It's the video from an educational set about dramatizations, it came with a book and a CD. Some libraries still have it and I got someone to borrow and copy the VHS tape. Just like "From page to screen" it was made at the same time or shortly after the series, '95 or '96, with the same footage.
I like how while in costume, they still seem to be in character. So it isn't Alison Steadman speaking but Mrs. Bennet. Nor is it Jennifer and Colin but Lizzy and Darcy. So fun
Yes. It really demonstrates how important all aspects of production are to making a great series like this. Acting, costumes, make-up, lighting, cinematography and a million more. It's fascinating and lovely.
@iodreamer Strange, I get a few useful sites after the links to these youtube videos. But the information is basically what I already told you, it was part of an educational set. I used the CD track for the video "Lizzies diary".
@Darcyfied I tried to search using quotations marks and I get the same results - mostly of your own uploaded videos. If you have found the links with this additional imformation, could you please share them? Thank you very much for explaining!
Darcyfied, true! I don't think there are many heroines like Lizzie written during the 18th & 19th Centuries, perhaps that's why she is so beloved by women. I know many people might point to Cathy from Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre, but they both fell in love with abusive men so I don't think that's a great recommendation of agency. Elizabeth Bennet was unwilling to give up her standards or her self respect.
@@MsDidi38 Milady DeWinter? Cast as a villain, but still. I couldn't answer without studying English literature first. I really don't know what else was being read just after 1800.
@@Darcyfied I don't know that one, I will look it up. There are some interesting female writers by the 20th century and of course Mary Shelley, in the 19th, but her heroine was also seduced by Count Dracula! She was a proto-feminist though in her other writings.
Mrs. Bennett faults makes Elizabeth Bennett shine. Without Mrs. Bennett, Elizabeth will be a Mrs. Bennett only in a vulgar forward way. And i mean, what Lady Catherine discovered in Elizabeth. "Arts & Allurements"
That eye contact over the piano was an iconic scene that is indelibly imprinted on a whole generation. Fabulous scene.
😢
People critisised her performance, but she is like that in the book. She was spot on!
Her performance was perfect
Good performance, she really got on my last nerve. The actress allowed her to come alive!
Alison Steadman IS fantastic as Mrs. Bennett.
Love this film must have watched it twenty times at least
She was wonderful as Mrs. Bennett
You played Mrs Bennett perfectly.
This superb actress is the best Mrs. Bennett in all the P&P versions. Poor Mr. Bennett.
That exchange of looks--- perfection.
They were subtly smiling with their eyes. Like a Mona Lisa.
Great playing.
Thanks for your comments on many of the uploads. I'm glad you worked through all of the videos, that is the kind of thing I made this channel for.
@3215murph Yeah, Lizzie was playing with fire. Modern readers / viewers won't always realize how bad their chances really were.

It seems to me that Mrs. Bennett is super funny and, in her attempts to dramaticize the story, she only manages to be very funny. It's great.
We adore Darcy !!!!!!!!!!!!
“Love is no good without a worthy opponent”...... this perfectly describes Lizzy and Darcy.

8:20-8:40 The best scene, imo
The music at 8:30-8:31 and his faint smile…. 🥰
@Darcyfied Thanks. I did Google before asking. This is not included in my DVD copy of Pride & Prejudice and haven't heard or read about it before.

Jennifer speaking with her English accent
Awesome!

Thank you very much for uploading this! Are these parts of a documentary? What is it called? Is the full piece available on DVD?

Omg mr darcy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Be nice if they talked about the gendered nature of the women's position in society that is an important part of Austen's novel
Let's face it, most featurettes and making-ofs don't really go very deep. For a proper dive into any subject one has to hit the books.

@@MsDidi38 I meant the female villain from The Three Musketeers. But there probably were loads of books that we have never heard of.
@iodreamer Well I don't mind answering, but it would help if you google first, ask questions later.
