The guy who played Slater is Jim Broadbent. He went on to win a BAFTA and an Oscar for his role in “Iris”. Very talented actor. Wait until you get to the episode “To Hull And Back” (Which involves Slater). A brilliant episode with a killer twist. Great video as always Miss Megan…
Jim Broadbent has been in so many things such as Moulin Rouge, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Hot Fuzz, Gangs Of New York, Blackadder, The Street, The Chronicles Of Narnia, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystall Skull and King Of Thieves.
I'm glad he did turn the role down for himself and David jason. Jim broadband went on to do things worldwide, whereas David jason never did, but he got offered loads of opportunities but turned them all down and stuck to the UK market. Worked out well for them both in the long run.
Slater was played by Jim Broadbent, and you're right, he was Professor Slughorn in Harry Potter. Trigger (Roger Lloyd Pack) was also in Harry Potter. He played Bartemius Crouch Sr in Goblet of Fire. This is one of my favourite episodes
Megan great acting great writing, the storylines are consistent throughout the twist & turns with pathos will amaze you,Christmas specials we didn't half look forward to them..
Kudos for recognising the same guy that played Slughorn in HP, but did you recognise Trigger as the guy that played Barty Crouch in Goblet of Fire? You may have recognised him in an earlier episode.
2:00 I know him best from *"Moulin Rouge"* he played the owner *Harold Zidler* But you're right. *Jim Broadbent* played *Professor Horace Slughorn* in *Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince*
I love how you take great delight in whichever comedy series you react to. Don't they have anything as delightful as the UK comedies, in the USA? Just wondering.
Megan, I bet you're sooo happy to have moved to the UK, yeah this island has it's problems and it's faults BUT comedy, music, history are definitely not one of them, love your laugh sweetheart ✌️

Ah yes Jim does appear to be quite the talented actor! Ohh I'm now looking forward to watching that episode :)

Jim Broadbent was originally offered the role of Del Boy, but he turned it down due to other commitments.

Jim Broadbent, probably the most famous actor to appear on the show. And this isn't the last time you will see him so look forward to that!
When you get to the last couple of series, you'll find that the "Do you know who that was?", "The Wife?" a little bit funnier.
Game of Thrones Blackadder's Christmas Carol, and a million other things. Yep. The great Jim Broadbent. The other Slater episodes are also great!

Del may not be always successful but he knows when he's backed into a corner, he'll come up trumps every time. Thanks for uploading, all the best :)
The guy who could talk his way out of a room with no doors
At the end of series 4 is when the one off specials start so Make sure you watch in that order 💪💪💪💪💪

the mighty Jim Broadbent as Slater, who was the original choice for Del-Boy himself, but couldn't take the role due to theatre commitments!
I actually worked on that episode. If you scroll the credits I am there as technical coordinator.
Ah cool!!
Your laugh is funnier than the show
"half inch" = pinch, i.e., steal
Grandad was the best. 🤠👍❤🙏
