Rik and Vivian. Gertrude Richard 'Ritchie' Rich and Edward Digeridoo Catflap. The Dangerous Brothers. Richard 'Ritchie' Richard and Edward 'Eddie' Elizabeth Hitler. Comedic legends.
Comic strip presents was a favourite of mine and Rik Mayall was in an American werewolf in London he's an extra in the slaughtered lamb pub at the start
He played "Lord Flashheart" in both the Elizabethan Blackadder run and this WWI run. You have to remember WWI flying aces like the Red Baron were huge celebrities during the war and a lot of them had enormous followings...especially among young women. They also died like flies.
"Get inside her 5 times a day and take her to heaven and back" is my all time favourite Blackadder quote and Lord Flashheart is my favourite character, he steals the show like no other!
He is the same actor who played the hero sea captain that cut in on Blackadder with the Queen. The actor was Rik Mayall and he appeared in two of the Blackadder series. He was very popular but he passed away in 2014 of a heart attack. He was only 56.
Rik Mayall (Lord Flashheart) and Adrian Edmondson (Baron Von Rechtovan) were best friends from their university days until Rik Mayall’s death as well as comedy partners working together on comedy shows like The Young Ones and Bottom.
Wait till the final episode of Blackadder goes forth. To this day the last few minutes are so moving it brings tears to my eye's. This episode was shown on the weekend of remembrance.
Evening Megan I loved watching your recent reactions towards Blackadder here! Blackadder is one of my favorite British shows ever and brings back memories for me and thanks for sharing! ❤
Yes, it's Rik Mayall, who played Lord Flashheart, who stole Edmund's bride 'Bob' in the first episode of Blackadder II. And the driver Bobbie Parkhurst here is played by Gabrielle Glaister, who also played 'Bob'.
If you want to see Hugh Laurie and Steven Fry (the guy playing General Melchitt) in an earlier English comedy you should look up "Jeeves and Wooster." It's set in the 1920's in upper class English society. Laurie plays Bertie Wooster, a fairly dim upper class English twit and Fry plays his almost supernaturally talented valet, Jeeves. The comedy is pure English and based on the novels of the English writer P. G. Wodehouse. The upper class are presented as pretty much stuck up morons most of the time and Jeeves spends most of his time getting Bertie Wooster out of one jam after another. The series had 23 episodes, each about 50 minutes long and are just hilarious.
You most certainly do recognise Captain Flashheart from series 2. He's a descendant of Lord Flashheart from the first episode "Bells." He's played by the late, great Rik Mayall. He and Adrian Edmondson (who played Baron Von Richthoven in this episode) are British comedy legends. They came onto the scene around the same time as Rowan Atkinson, and co here. Initially they had an act called the Dangerous Brothers. They then went off and did Channel 4's "The Comic Strip Presents..." with loads of other guys on the scene at the same time (Nigel Planer, Peter Richardson, Alexei Sayle, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Lenny Henry, Robbie Coltrane to name a few). They subsequently went on to do their masterpiece of "The Young Ones" as well as "Filthy Rich and Catflap" and "Bottom". All massively hilarious and definitely worth checking out. Also check out Rik Mayall in "The New Statesman". He plays a corrupt Tory MP, by the name of Alan B'Stard in the late 80s/early 90s. Absolutely brilliant
The last episode was first transmitted the week before Remembrance Day. I remember being completely stunned by the ending. I don’t think I have ever watched another comedy show which h has had such a profound effect on me as that last show. If you have time there is a brilliant documentary about how the ending came about. (If you react to the last episode please watch the video with the complete ending of the most impact)
When Captain Blackadder says ‘It’s like Crufts in here’, the line was supposed to be ’Its like the Battersea Dog’s Home in here’ but Rowan Atkinson couldn’t say it because of his stammer, so Rowan and the writers agreed to change the line.
oh.... the last episode... Possibly the greatest ending to a sitcom ever recorded! Hopefully you are familiar with poem by Canadian Lieutenant Colenel John McCrae referencing the poppies that grew in the fields of Flanders after the War.
yes it is rik myall who was the long haired blonde pirate and took blackadders wife or potential wife at the end. yes bob his wife in a previous series was also in this one.
1:22 If you're not sure if he's the same actor, then you probably haven't seen _The Young Ones,_ perhaps because you're not a big Cliff Richard fan? Might be worth a look anyway.
Lord Flashheart was Rik's best character apart from Richie in Bottom....He was in Season 1 of Blackadder, 2 and 4 and also Blackadder back and forth as robin hood....RIP Rik....Legend
"Don't slouch, Darling!" 🙂 Even the guest stars of Blackadder keep up the pattern of playing the "same" character across generations; Flashheart and "Bob" are portrayed by the same actors as in the first episode of Series 2. Mayall (Flasheart) and Edmonson (The Red Baron) teamed up for a lot of great British Comedy that's worth a watch [whether for your channel or otherwise]
It's brilliant so many good actors appeared in one episode it's why series 4 is my favourite but sadly it also has the saddest finale out of every British comedy in history
Black adder last one is very emotional, the more repeats i watch it doesn't get any easier, black adder & del boy, only top quality comedy with pathos, how dare they make us raw with laughter one minute then get us blubbering the next.i just say these are happy tears..
Rik is a legend and sorely missed. There is a great sketch of Rik and Ade improving in bottom live where they go off script in Southampton - check it out :)
It is the same guy acting.. Rick Mayall.. He's a British comedy icon.. People were in shock when he died.. They still mourn him today.. For an introduction to his comedy you should check out "Bottom" "Ultra violence" (its slapstick comedy).. Not real violence..
Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall have quite a history in British comedy, appearing in both the Young Ones and Bottom as well as this episode of BlackAdder
@in6087 And also as the double act 'The Dangerous Brothers'.
Worth checking-out if you can find it online.
Rik and Vivian. Gertrude Richard 'Ritchie' Rich and Edward Digeridoo Catflap. The Dangerous Brothers. Richard 'Ritchie' Richard and Edward 'Eddie' Elizabeth Hitler. Comedic legends.
Don't forget Bad News. I saw them live and it was dreadful. Very funny too.
I don't think I've seen the one with Ade.
Comic strip presents was a favourite of mine and Rik Mayall was in an American werewolf in London he's an extra in the slaughtered lamb pub at the start

Rik Mayall. Comedy legend and much missed. Peace out.
Can't wait for your reaction to the final episode. I have watched it dozens of times but I still get emotional.
"Get inside her 5 times a day and take her to heaven and back" is my all time favourite Blackadder quote and Lord Flashheart is my favourite character, he steals the show like no other!
TBH Rik Mayall could steal the show in a show that only starred Rik Mayall.
He is the same actor who played the hero sea captain that cut in on Blackadder with the Queen. The actor was Rik Mayall and he appeared in two of the Blackadder series. He was very popular but he passed away in 2014 of a heart attack. He was only 56.
Ahh I thought so! What a shame. He was hilarious!
I'm pretty sure his character wasn't "hero sea Captain" in Blackadder II. Tom Baker was the only sea Captain in that season.
Three episodes. He was also Mad Gerald in the last episode of series 1 "The Black Seal"
He was Blackadder's old friend and best man at his wedding to Bob. Of course, Flashheart and Bob ran off together as soon as they met.
He's was also the prisoner in the final episode of season 1
".... Who's using the family brain cell at the moment?" remains in my vocabulary to this day
Rik Mayall (Lord Flashheart) and Adrian Edmondson (Baron Von Rechtovan) were best friends from their university days until Rik Mayall’s death as well as comedy partners working together on comedy shows like The Young Ones and Bottom.

Thanks Falcom! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Rik had a special condition with the producers. To have a stand-out character with the best comedic lines. He got his way.
I can picture you and Lord Flashheart getting on pretty well.
THE HILARIOUS RIK MAYAL FOUND HIS MATCH IN "MAN DOWN" AS GREG DAVIES' DAD. 😂😂😂😂😂 HIS LAST SERIES....AND HE AND DAVIES' DAD PASSED SAME WEEK.😪😪😪😓
same actor, Sarah Ferguson loved the Lord Flasheart books really Harry Flashman books
5:06 One of Rik Mayall's best lines! 🤣
Yes, it's Rik Mayall, who played Lord Flashheart, who stole Edmund's bride 'Bob' in the first episode of Blackadder II. And the driver Bobbie Parkhurst here is played by Gabrielle Glaister, who also played 'Bob'.
Thinking about it, since Flash married Bob in Blackadder II, both Flash and Bobbie in IV are descendants of both Flash and Bob in II.
It's the same actor, Rik Mayall, a brilliant actor who regularly 'chewed up the scenery' to amazing comic effect RIP
He was so talented!
😊😊😊😊😊 The humour/dialogue is brilliant, still great, thanks .❤❤.
Great video Megan, both Rowan Atkinson & Rik Mayall at the top of their game in the same show results in exceptional comedy 👏 Keep them coming 👍
7:15 "She's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead."
yes! That's it! Thank you :)
I see your really started to get british humour, glad u enjoyed it
The greatness of Blackadder was they used Rik limited so he was that impact, and always stole the show,.

For God's sake, when you watch the last episode watch it to the very last second. It'll break your heart.

yes I need to watch all of those!! They appear to be quite the talented group!
Their Bottom is worth checking out.
That's a tricky sentence to deliver with aplomb.
Oh, er
One of the finest British comedies.
Definitely Bottom!!!!!
German, Aide Edmundson, is married to Jennifer Saunders of "ABFAB" A MUST WATCH!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😂
Ade showed up in the first season of the Three-Body Problem - woof woof.
The last episode was first transmitted the week before Remembrance Day. I remember being completely stunned by the ending. I don’t think I have ever watched another comedy show which h has had such a profound effect on me as that last show.

Not saying I don't believe you,but wordsmith rowan a stammer takes some swallowing..
@@andywrong3247 I think Atkinson's stammer is fairly well known
oh.... the last episode...
Possibly the greatest ending to a sitcom ever recorded!
Hopefully you are familiar with poem by
Canadian Lieutenant Colenel John McCrae
referencing the poppies that grew in the fields of Flanders after the War.
Rik Mayall also did adverts for an alcoholic beverage called Wells Bombardier, where he just simply went into 'Lord Flashheart' mode.
SEE "FRY AND LAURIE" They were comedy team and very funny😂😂😂😂😂😂
Driver is "BOB" from Wedding in season 3!!!❤❤
I think Rik only had something like 10 minutes of screen time total in his appearances. He absolutely stole the show though!
Will go out my way to say this is the best episode of any comedy ever made
My fave episode with Lord Flashheart❤💋💋💋💋
there is also the millennium episode
HE IS IN SEASON 3 LORD FLASHHEART AT THE WEDDING!!💋💋💋💋💋💋
yes it is rik myall who was the long haired blonde pirate and took blackadders wife or potential wife at the end. yes bob his wife in a previous series was also in this one.

This is your cue to investigate all things Rik Mayall. The Young Ones, The New Statesman and Bottom. Enjoy.
Get ready for Lord Flashheart! 😂
enjoy the rest of your night Megan😁🌙
"Don't slouch, Darling!" 🙂

DARLING IS "PERCY"

Superb episode with rik Mayall was excellent as Flashheart. Met him when he did his book signing tour and got a pic, so funny. Rip
Black adder last one is very emotional, the more repeats i watch it doesn't get any easier, black adder & del boy, only top quality comedy with pathos, how dare they make us raw with laughter one minute then get us blubbering the next.i just say these are happy tears..
the finaj ep is heavy
Rik is a legend and sorely missed. There is a great sketch of Rik and Ade improving in bottom live where they go off script in Southampton - check it out :)
Rik Mayall was very funny. My favourite comedy show of his was The New Statesman, in which he played a corrupt Conservative MP.
Like each Blackadder is a descendent of the previous the Flasheart here is surely a descendent of the 1 in the second season 🎩
Rik Mayall! Lord Flashheart! Brilliant
Rik Mayall RIP- you need to check out "The Young Ones" sometime
If you can listen to BBC desert island discs. Adrian Edmondson remembering his friend Rick Mylall.
Why are some of these videos of the show played back slower than they should be?
You should check out "Armstrong, Miller, Mitchell & Webb as WW2 Pilots | Comic Relief"
Reference to "my blondest friends" is obviously misplaced as this is WW1 and nothing to with Nazi ideology.
I like before I watch 😅
Same actor and the same character remember the characters in this series are the ancestors of the characters in the previous series.
ahhh yes!! Good point!
Wrong way round, these characters are the descendants of the previous characters.
@nicksykes4575 Yes that's what I meant the characters in the previous series are their ancestors I got my terminology muddled . 😃👍
It is the same guy acting.. Rick Mayall.. He's a British comedy icon.. People were in shock when he died.. They still mourn him today.. For an introduction to his comedy you should check out "Bottom" "Ultra violence" (its slapstick comedy).. Not real violence..
Rik Mayall was in Bottom i loved that comedy very much but I'm not sure you a lady would find it as funny?
Is it me, or does Flashhart and Ace Rimmmer errily similar 😅😅
Lord Flashheart is the Best Character Ever
Woof woof!
Please review - The Young Ones, ❤
Sooooo Funny
