what i did love about this megan, through lving here, learning our history, and culture, you were able to get the jokes, the british empire for one, that can get lost in todays age, people not really knowing about the empire, his slang you got very well, you got british blood in your veins girl, happy to have you here
al does not have plants, what you dont see, in many of his shows on you tube, as they are snippets, he spends half hour of his first part, getting to know the people, names, what they do for work, you can really see that in his secretary clip, it gives you a great idea, how he he does just work of the cuff, and its really funny, have a look for it
Yeah, he's talking to real people and improvising as he goes. If there were all plants in the audience, it would be artificial and just well crap. I mean this is not the BBC with a lot of their shows, Question Time for example.
@@Benji568 i 100% agree, and he goes for all ages, from teens to the older generation, good fodder for him the older generation, locking the war and stuff, and teens this day and age, i totaly agree, you said it better than i did
I think I love most is for once there is an absolutely incredible wonderful charismatic beautiful woman they can actually turn round and point out the obvious which unfortunately most people can’t do these days. This was a great show and you obviously recognise it well done you
Good morning Megan & Happy Saturday to you! This bloke Al Murray is so bloody hilarious 😂 here just making the crowd laugh. Have a beautiful weekend & stay safe! ❤
Hi Megan, at all Al's shows he spends 20-30mins finding out about people in the first few rows of the audience, name, job, hobbies etc. Then he'll go back from time to time and reference them in his act. That's why he knew Steve in the audience could help with the music, he'd already found out Steve used to play keyboards in a punk band. So you never get the exact same show twice with Al. Even if you don't watch a full set, at least watch the first 20mins of any of them to see his interaction with his audience.
I've seen him twice, once before he became proper famous and once recently, and he has always been a very funny, very clever, very knowledgable comedian. He has a degree in history I believe, specialising in military history, so can draw on that knowledge to play with stereotypes whilst playing a stereotype of his own. He's also a drummer and runs a drum making company!
I saw Al at Edinburgh Fringe years ago. Thankfully I wasn’t sat on the first few rows because at the start of his set he picks on members of that part of the audience and really roasts them. Having found out about certain people he keeps referring back to them as the show unfolds organically
I saw Al finally last year in my home town, he spent the whole first hour doing audience work. He was that good at it also were brexit central and there were a few spud heads in the front who he had a great rapport with and had to stop a lot due to breaking out in laughter himself
I haven’t been to one of his gigs. But he’s renowned for sustaining interaction with a lot of members of the audience. Depending on your disposition best not to sit in the front row or pipe up like poor Neil!! 😊
megan, you being a brit now, when he said, if you had to sum up great briton, i swore blind you wanted to say beer or pubs, lol, saw that twinkle in your eye girl
This guy is a genius at unscripted/impromptu comedy. It's very, VERY difficult to do. A completely different ball game to the standard stand-up "sets".
This is just a character - - - - He's actually an extremely intelligent man, made some fantastic documentaries too - usually about WW2. Pretty sure he's got a degree in history from Oxford Uni, as I said, an intelligent man
He's pretty good. However, the 'vs American' part is a standard bit. Not only could he just about count on having at least one American tourist at a show that size, if NOBODY had admitted to being American, he could still present the exact same material without having anybody in the audience to point to.
Thing is, It wouldn't surprise me if he had the occasional plant, but he also did loads off the cuff, and he would have had a load of bits stored up for nations, jobs, etc so I doubt he would even have to use a plant. I can see it if it was a really good bit he had just written and wanted to test it. He had a long running show in London and to be fair there is often a fairly international and mixed crowd.
Everyone loves having a laugh with other people’s country. However, there are a certain nationality and religion that have no sense of humour whatsoever. If Al had done this to them, they would have been screaming racism loudly than people laughing at this colonial gentleman.

my thoughts pretty much
His full shows are great, he works the crowd and learns about them then includes them in later bits.
I love the way he says "It doesn't matter who comes first when you're on your own"....its been a year. Then shakes his hand. Love his sharp innuendo.

Funny thing was that he wasn't just poking fun at Americans, but Brittain as well

It was a real person!
This is not really against Americans, although there are one or two good jokes about them. It’s really about British attitudes towards foreigners.
If you're Canadian, you're North American!🤣🤣🤣🤣🇬🇧
Canadians don't have an issue with Mexicans they don't have a boarder with them it's the Americans coming in they should be worried about 😆
Just remember that Canadians are Americans too. x
668, the neighbour of the beast,😂
Dont tell a Canadian that they are Amrerican they tend to get a little upset
'And a f*cking great big ocean thank Christ' and this dates from BEFORE trump.
