my dad had a 92 dos computer and we played one of these 80s simulators to practice flyin our RC plane. we had the plane rc controller to hook up to the computer as well. hald of our desk was cluttered with 3 inch floppy discs haha it took almost 10 miutes to type in the commands and wait for the program to load up. dont even get me started on how long it took to instal the software plus the hardware haha good times
I spent 100's of hours in my moms basement playing that game...brings back so many memories. I learned to fly with that software and got my pilot lic at 16 years old in 1991 because of how much time I got in the sim aircraft.
I swear I remembered going to a bowling alley in the early 80s and playing an amazingly real graphics looking flight combat simulator. A game you sat inside of. The graphics looked as real as the simulator on the military base in the movie Iron Eagle. It was years before I played the arcade game After Burner. I wish i would have remembered the name of this arcade game and see how far off memory is from reality. Since the advent of search engines ove been searching and haven't seen anything close.

Oh, I played that stuff. In 1982 looked great...
agreed. I had FS II for the Apple II, Atari ST, FS 98, 2000, 2004, and preordered the new one.
@@themovietheatre do you think the new one is marginally better than this one or a lot better?
of course.
For the hardware of the age, this actually looks slightly better than I expected it to.

This is genuinely much better than I thought it would be, "much of the world" is now finally covered 40+ years later.
"Additional scenery disk" LOL, I think they were pretty much indistinguishable from one another

I remember buying an EGA card and seeing 16 colors in Flight Simulator for the first time. Getting rid of the pastel colors - exciting times!
Those graphics are stunning
