French20cent I got given one of these to drive for a weekend. I can confirm it is absolutely loaded with bullshit “solutions”. It has an electronic sensor that tells your front wheels degree of turn for off-roading. Why, pray tell, would you need that you ask? Because the steering is so numb you can’t freaking tell where the wheels are pointing in slick situations. I got stuck in a torrential downpour in it and found myself terrified every time it hydroplaned because it had absolutely no steering feel. And don’t even get me started on the trailer back up knob. The only people that need that knob are knobs themselves.

Henry Ford was also an unabashed anti-Semite. Things change to suit the market and given Ford's reputation for producing very durable pickup trucks, it's evident that some deem it worthy. However, I'm just not a pickup truck kind of guy and I doubt I could ever (personally) justify the price. Remember about 15 years ago...when people were driving around in the H2 Hummer for no apparent reason? I used to look around waiting for a tricked-out M1A1 Abrams tank on 35" rims to round the nearest corner. We threw logic out the window for a little while there for a decade or so lol.
Since it cost 80 000 dollars you would think it would have auto locking hubs...but it looks like you hav eto go out and lock them manually...jesus....for 80 grand it should have auto lockers.
I just got a 2018 f250 gas long bed for $37,500 plus tx. Obviously not loaded but who cares about most of that stuff. I tow a large boat and I'm very happy.
@RyanJL337 The power slide on the Ram was only the center third from 09-18. Titan rear sliders span about 50%. As far as factory goes, only the tundra Crewmax drops the entire rear glass. There have been aftermarket rear sliders though dating back to the days of the Bigfoot cruiser rear windows on Fords in the late 80's.
Superficially just about the same. F450 obviously has dual rear wheels, but the biggest advantage is the turning radius. The F450 is more mobile than an F250, ironically.
You’d get a kick out of the F-450. 30,000+ towing, same engine/trans. And a longer wheelbase. And 10 lugs. And a wide track front axle (seriously, turning radius is amazing and much better than a comparable f-350)
James It's kind of hard to explain. I don't mean to talk down to you in any way but for example I have a 16 year old truck with over 180 thousand miles. Most people (even including my own sister) thought buying a truck with such high mileage was a terrible idea. But I know the 7.3l powerstroke diesel engine it it will last well over 500k due to it being one of the most reliable diesels in the world. On top of that, my truck has the same body style of the truck my dad used to have when I was a kid. I have almost 2 decades of amazing memories in the truck from learning to drive, to taking the boat to the ocean, to the family camping trip. Not to mention my dad and I always shared a bond over our love of trucks. What I'm trying to say is me and almost every truck owner have some kind of bond with their truck that they wouldn't trade for anything in the world. It's not that we are trying to act better than everyone. We just share a deep connection to our vehicles that makes us not want to give them up for anything. Hope this explains some things about us weird truck guys. Cheers mate 😃
With that F250 being a diesel, that start delay you are seeing is more than likely the computer cycling the glow plugs which makes it a hell of a lot easier to start and is nicer to the engine. In the older days, (I own a '96 7.3l powerstroke) you had to flip the key forward engaging all electrical and cycles the glow plugs.
@@christinearmington It's like 2 inches lower, making it almost useless. Plus, the rubber steps sticking out of a chrome bumper don't exactly look that nice.
Everyone has a trick tailgate now to compete with it. Chevy's actually seems a bit more innovative at first glance. Then you try and use it after putting a trailer hitch on and you've got a very expensive dent in your brand new tailgate. Ram has one now that can open like French doors, but I don't really see how useful that would be. Ford's is the least interesting, but it's also the only one that I don't really have any major problems with other than just adding a lot of complexity to a simple part.
My dad had a 2013 escape from work and it was a piece of junk. The turbo blew out, it had no balls, interior was small. The company then bought him an explorer which was much better
Dont forget that manufacturers overly inflate their specs. I doubt this piece of garbage could pull any significant amount of weigh. More than likely the DPF system will have an issue and throw the powertrain into limp mode. If not that, then something else will probably fail. All this new shit will allure you with fancy bells and whistles but they're just that, shit. If you want to haul heavy, buy a used 7.3. 20K in total including the price of the truck will get you a 7.3 which is what you need and without fail. There's a reason they were extremely popular... They were extremely successful.
The length and wheelbase length you mentioned is for the crew cab with the 8 ft bed, not the 6.7 ft bed, which is what you were reviewing. Wheelbase is around 160 inches and overall length of around 250 inches for the 6.7 ft bed.
I think we can cut him slack on this since this info was most likely provided by the dealer and lets face it the dealers i have dealt with know very little about what they sell.
I'm from Australia and we have some big cars here but my visit to the US really changed my idea of what a big car is. This video brought it back. Mind you, you have MUCH wider roads, I've seen an occasional US import here and it really struggles to sit in its lane as ours are so narrow. But yeah, no video or image prepares you for when you see the thing in flesh.
I pulled up next to one of these things in an Audi TT and couldn’t see the person driving it. It literally looked like this truck just gave birth to my car. Yes, it’s a monster truck.
This. Exactly this. Same with HAAAAAAAAAHLY owners. Everyone else's bike sucks but theirs. I've definitely met some decent Harley owners, just as I've met some decent truck owners... but those who have serious attitude issues do ruin it for the rest. Strangely, Jeep owners always seem to be the kindest and most welcoming people...
BBISHOPPCM's World come to a jeep owner with a jeep and they well be like your long lost family. No joke on the road jeep owners all ways wave to each other no matter what
David Washington so? Buy a base model then. This truck is for people who need both a truck and a comfortable car but don't want to pay for 2 cars. Ideal car for small business owners without kids yet.
autofixation this is definitely a work truck at today’s standards, I mean getting a platinum is over board as fuck. But doesn’t not make it a work truck, my boss has a 2017 f-150 with a ton of packages and we are doing roofs every week. Seems like it’s a work truck to me
The sliding feature of the visor was on my 1999 Camry... Also there are many more features with the Key Pad. If you push the last two buttons, it will lock the car. If you input your 5 digit code just the driver side will unlock, if you push a 6th time on the next highest number from your code, all the doors will unlock. Finally, it is one of the only vehicle that allows you to lock your car while it's running! Very handy
You missed a interior quirk! the center console storage area next to the cup holders turns into 2 more cup holders if you lift the tray out and slide the cupholders over giving you 6 cupholders in the center console alone
Jared Buds I don’t know if the 2017 is the same as the 2013 but there is another “secretive” console above the Navigation by the windshield lol you click it down and it pops open. Why? Cause why not
Im a truck guy, I own 2. I use them for work. I just never understood the appeal of a luxury truck. $80k? I wouldnt want to put one scratch on that for that money. I mean, I feel if I dented it in any way, I would cry. If you want to spend that money to haul cow poop or chickens to market, be my guest.
Papa Bugg I don’t know why you wouldn’t want luxury? Love my king ranch. Extremely comfortable, all kinds of features that I use and enjoy daily, and allows me to pull a horse trailer or car trailer on the weekends. I don’t feel that there’s any shame in luxury while you’re working. I take care of every vehicle I’m in, no matter how nice
@@Austinchaynes for me personally, a truck, a work one anyhow, is something you dont need to stress on. I dont want to have to clean it after everyday. If there is mud in it no biggie. And as well all the luxury, I personally dont see the need for it when your working in mud and digging ditches. I like luxury, hell I want a new Cadillac, those are sweet. And I like trucks, but for me, drive it and forget it. If it gets a dent, it pride, lol. Now if you like luxury in the truck, all good and I bet your truck is nice. But I like other vehicles for that. Like my 2016 pilot
Papa Bugg I guess it’s just a different mind set. Work truck or not, I would still baby it. I’m just really anal when it comes to my vehicles. And I guess a lot of people need a weekend warrior. They don’t necessarily work “out of” their truck during the week, but need something with pulling power or the ability to haul on the weekend. When you need a truck you need a truck. No way around that. Plus long trips are more comfortable pulling a trailer, especially with all the tow features
I have a 2015 f250 super duty with the same 6.7l diesel. I get over 20 mpg easy on the highway. I love my truck and wouldn't trade it for anything. Love your vids doug!

Hey Doug, I got a camera inside til for ya. “Best rear window in a truck”
Uh no. That definitely has to go to the Tundra Crew Max, where the entire back glass slides down.
@RyanJL337 Then it wasn't factory (meaning aftermarket or custom) or you were riding in a Tundra and didn't realize it.
RyanJL337 memories fade over time. Look it up
My dads 2015 titan has the auto slide down rear glass
@RyanJL337 i mean, my 2006 tundra sr5's whole back window goes down

Superficially just about the same. F450 obviously has dual rear wheels, but the biggest advantage is the turning radius. The F450 is more mobile than an F250, ironically.

You’d get a kick out of the F-450. 30,000+ towing, same engine/trans. And a longer wheelbase. And 10 lugs. And a wide track front axle (seriously, turning radius is amazing and much better than a comparable f-350)
I remember hearing about the improved turn radius on those. Sounds pretty neat

Watching a non-truck guy review a truck is possibly one of the funniest things I've seen. Thanks for giving me a good laugh today!

nicolas id take a ram 3500 cummins over a Lamborghini Aventador anytime
Ill take my 02 Ford 7.3L 250 over a Ferrari any day
James It's kind of hard to explain.

I’m a ram guy but that tailgate step is a really nice feature.
Chevy has a step built into the bumper. Much more elegant design.
@@christinearmington nothing against Chevy, but my boot got stuck in one of those bumper steps causing me to fall once and nearly broke my foot.
christinearmington they look gay and take so long to make into the step I will take my ford step any day
@@christinearmington It's like 2 inches lower, making it almost useless.
“Press the button again and the light turns off” 🙄 amazing insight Doug You are genius level when it comes to these complicated buttons 😁
This truck is every Texans wet dream
True, i love my 05 Escape but i would kill someone or something for this truck.
My dad had a 2013 escape from work and it was a piece of junk. The turbo blew out, it had no balls, interior was small. The company then bought him an explorer which was much better

*Thank you for giving practical uses for the specs! I had no fkin idea how I was gonna take my elephant, hippo and lotus across the country*
So there's actually a couple options... where would you like to start?
Be careful -- you probably don't want to put your elephant and hippo together on the trailer. I'd put the Lotus in between to act as a buffer.
Meat Father .....this comment made me laugh....well done...
Doug DeMuro your awesome Doug
UA-cam User thanks I was fixing to comment the same thing when I saw your comment.
True that, the long bed doesn't look right, glad he reviewed the short bed!

There’s actually 6 cup holders. The front one slides over
make that 8 total cup holders! 2 in the back when you fold the center console down
It's a work truck. When that pulls up you know the boss or business owner is on site. Sad to say, most of the workers can't afford this work truck.
David Washington so? Buy a base model then. This truck is for people who need both a truck and a comfortable car but don't want to pay for 2 cars. Ideal car for small business owners without kids yet.
Hardly a work truck.
autofixation this is definitely a work truck at today’s standards, I mean getting a platinum is over board as fuck.

Very handy

Ik, buy a beater truck for 10k and a family car for 60k.
@@elismaatta so I guess you didn't read the part where I said I had two, plus a tool one and the family car

Hey Doug, I got a camera inside til for ya. For shots like 3:41 use the neck strap for smooth and even pans but pushing it out from your body to make a good amount of tension between your neck and the camera then move slowly.
