The producers of this documentary have obviously not heard of Tim Severin's successful journey from Greece to Georgia in a replica bronze age ship back in the eighties, a series was made about this trip and it is called Voyage of the Heroes. it is on youtube.
You shouldn't approach this video, as the real-story in the typical sense. Treat it as an interesting speculative video with some of the real-story information thrown in. There's an intelligent video, to be made about Jason & The Argonauts and the Greek culture and this isn't it.
Wrong, but I can prove it. I don't have to make empty claims. I present, Moses from Exodus and Jason from Greek Argonautica. Just a few easy steps from a vast network of these. 1. Calling - Both saved as kids. 2. Cyclical pain - Harpies defile Phineas' food daily. Egypt has ten plagues. 3. Supernatural Aid - Jason gets help from Goddess Hera. Moses to Mt Horeb to talk to Yahweh and gets the magical staff. 4. Struggle to leave past - Jason and Island of Old Gods. Moses and Pharaoh. Both leave but are chased. 5. Crossing of the Threshold - Jason invokes a Gods help to sail through the clashing Rocks. Moses invokes Gods help to run through the Red Sea. Both barely get through. Etc. The monomyth template is true. The stories are mythical carriers. Now, why shouldn't they approach they version of the myth? Literalness in myth is a sad testament to all of humanity. It's why we need foil hats.
Argonautica. Wonderful version of a common Myth template contemporaneous to the Jewish, Exodus monomyth with Moses as the called. It crack me up to see people treat any myth or religion as true.
@ 0:53 it's stated "The oldest gold mine is in Georgia". Georgians have been using the fleece technique for thousands of years. "A group of German and Georgian archaeologists claims the Sakdrisi site in southern Georgia, dating to the 3rd or 4th millennium BC, may be the world's oldest known gold mine. In the area of the Kolar Gold Fields in Bangarpet Taluk, Kolar District of Karnataka state, India, gold was first mined prior to the 2nd and 3rd century AD by digging small pits" Courtesy of Wikipedia :-)
@@get.factual Of course you are! Can’t get enough of the docs from SBS and France, Germany, Australia giving a different perspective of ancient history than the crappy American shows lol Thanks again for all the great videos!!!

You are very correct

Plenty of errors too.
Jason and the Argonauts movie from 1963 with Todd Armstrong is my favorite movie since I was a child.
or listen to the song... "Jason And The Argonauts" by XTC

PLEASE do not translate for ppl who speak English perfectly well :)
Awesome episode 👍👌
where is alien guy?
Actually there are no more Sakdrisi caves. There where brutally blown up by Georgian oligarchy Bidzina Ivanishvili's gold mining company.
Excellent documentary 👏👏👏🍿
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Original: Hunt for The Golden Fleece (Jagd nach dem Goldenen Vlies by Directors
Franz Leopold Schmelzer and Gerhard Rekel)❤❤❤
Great video. Other videos on different channels say that Iasoon (Jason) wore sandals, not shoes, when crossing the river with Hera.
Oldest gold mine is in India. A sluce box held the fleece
