1998 Ford F-150 V-8 had starter over run and electrical staying on in the cab as well as the weird intermittent chiming you had and messed around with the wiper motor switch and sure enough in a resting off and down position lights and chiming. Switched the wiper position to in between different setting levels and the lights and chiming stopped. Good damn find. Would never think to look for the wiper motor to be giving the electrical system grief. Thank You for your hard work in finding this. Who the hell would thin wipers could be the cause of electrical gremlins. The wiper motor works fine otherwise.
I had a good one on a Buick last night, too. Didn't get to film it though. Had to find the broken wire in the harness. The wire was just broken. No damage to the harness or the wire. The insulation was in tack and the wire was broken inside in a spot where the harness didn't rub or move.
Interesting problem. I had to try and follow a diagram today to figure out why my tractor died and wouldn't start. Figured it had to be the fuse for the safety module or the module itself from what I could see. I dropped the old fuse and couldn't find it in the grass and the contacts for the module where dirty so after replacing the fuse and cleaning the contacts it will start again. Didn't know how to read the diagrams before watching some of your videos so thanks.
Yeah, I have been thinking about doing some in depth videos on how to read diagrams, and the differences in some of the diagrams from different manufacturers.
my 01 f150 is doing the same thing, killing the battery, i need start pulling fuses i recon, i can hear something clicking from where the ignition switch is but gives the weird dings can close the door still dings some times just a half speed dink, messing with the headlight switch will change it , gonna look at it maybe next weekend, havent tried to turn on the wipers to see if something changes thanks
I didn't know the Canadian ones had windshield wipers. Seriously, I have worked on a lot of F150's and have never seen one do this before. It was a strange one.
I'm dealing with a very very similar problem only my truck won't start either. I have to jump the starter solenoid every time. I've replaced every fuse, relay, ignition cylinder, ignition switch, GEM..
My 98 was doing the same thing but also was engaging the starter while running. I replaced the switch. The starter problem stopped but I’m still having the same issues as you with the power still on and the key removed. Going to try the ignition cylinder I guess.
The Truck? I've had it since it was new. I bought it in November of 2001, drover her off the lot with 11 miles on her. Me and that truck have been through a lot of life together.
I’m currently facing the same issue, the windshield wiper motor work on my truck though, so im guessing I’ll start with the ignition switch and see if that solves the problem?

Electrical problems are like that.
@@frugalprepper cut the ground from the key cylinder
Thank you for the help. My boys truck had the same exact problem
Glad it helped
My 2002 F150 doing the exact same thing. Thanks for figuring it out!!
Glad to help
Holy crap! What a great job trouble shooting! Man that was quite the journey.

Very interesting. I'll have to remember this if I ever have the same issue with my F150

My 2000 f150 DRL stay on also

Probably no the ignition cylinder. Good luck finding it.
That’s an interesting find..... with a lot of testing you found it..... good diagnostic.....CHEERS
Thanks 👍
Mine has been doing similar, drains the dang battery. New wiper motor though
Great video. Didn't realise you have had that so long.

Yeah Unplug it and see if the dinging goes away.
I'm experiencing power to my fan and other accessories with my ignition switch in the off position
And my steering wheel doesn't lock
I would take the ignition switch out and see if the power shuts off and see if is still has power. If it doesn't you have a bad switch.
Jesus. I'm dumb. My dinner goes off also. I just disconnect the battery
As long as the wipers still work, or you don't drive in the rain you would be good to go
I'm not going to do all that. I'll pull DRL fuse
And in this case that wouldn't work
