It was really exciting when they built the walking bridge over Fairmount up there. Ppl tied helium balloons to it and lots of us walked it just cuz. I can remember standing up there while Mom sat in the car. There was much cactus and water alongside the road. (See Pearson Ford They stand alone at Fairmount and El Cajon), If you see a rent control apt for a senior in a wheelchair around you up there, let me know Kiddo! All this Looking at Home is bringing me down...
I remember when that separated bike lane was put in. It was a fabulous development. Riding that way prior to that was terrifying. Haven't gone that route in ages as I mostly cross 8 at Texas, Morena or Ingraham. Sad to see it in such disrepair.
Hey neighbor! Just want to that I really appreciate your videos! This weekend I went through Grantville to get to my in-laws and put up some Christmas decorations. This is a trip I’d have normally done by car, but I had some time and it was a beautiful day, so I decided to make the day better by biking. It was much better to go after watching this because (a) I knew it was at least possible and (b) where it was sketchy I at least knew what to expect! Knowing what to expect freed up some mental space to make sure I was fully focused on safely tangoing with speeding SUVs as they are essentially merging onfo a freeway with me as I white knuckled downhill along cluttered highway shoulders🙃. It’s a treacherous descent but even moreso when you don’t know what’s coming! Luckily I’d seen you bike a lot in this area so I could feel safer. Anyway, drive less and ride a bike. :)
Thanks, @jadenbankhead, for writing this! One of the goals of this channel is to just let people know what it's like. I'm overjoyed you were able to use this to prep for your own ride, and I'm glad it was safe and pleasant!
Wow that Hyundai driver is extremely reckless. I Always think the only way they can put their need to get somewhere in front of people's safety is they must really have to poop :P

That whole ride is so stressful. The bicycle infrastructure is an afterthought in the best places.
I'd love to take another route, but the only other road that goes east/west is El Cajon Blvd, and it doesn't have any infrastructure nor paint.

Thanks for the Jet shoutout. I need a new wheel.
Highly recommend Jet Bicycle Wheels. I scored a Nexus-8 internal hub that was laced on a 26", and need it on a 700c, so he's on the job!

People seem to loose their civility and patience when they get inside their cars!
I shouldn't be riding a bike in the bike lane? Boy, are you at the wrong channel...
Wait: Favorite wheel builder? I seriously need a decent wheel builder...
Jet Bicycle Wheels on Twain. Love him!
@@RidingBikesinSanDiego Excellent! I'l mention you referred me.
