I remember seeing this car in person at a Starbucks and thought it was the most interesting car I've seen in a while. It has such a presence and looks really expensive for what it is. Also those gloves are everything. Really adds something to this video
I leased one last week for $2500 down and $350 a month including tax. 2 year lease, 10k Miles, From LOs Angels. Love the D drive. They really did not need a N button, just the A and D should be enough. Love the D drive so much horsepower. Let me know if you like to get a car. The only issues, the gears change too quickly, it jerks, not a lot of space to put cell phone. The rear camera should be upgraded. The Audio and speakers are fine and the column goes up to 38, some people might hate that but, Italians do it different. The interface is not difficult to operate. Seats are ok. People do look at you more often. I wish the rear seat had a leaning back feature. The back seat levers, from the back should be changed to fold town the rear seats all the way, you have to move the front seats front to manually push the seat down. Regular driving I get around 22mpg. Paid $51 for a premium fuel for close to 400 Miles. But I think it will be much less when you hit the gas. Love it from 0-60 5.4 seconds, looks amazing and competes with the Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan. Feels like a sedan when you hit the gas. The steering wheel is extremely light, you have to get used to it. But with the 2 year lease it’s not a big deal.
I'm a old fashioned grand prix fan and really love classic Alfas. I'm glad they came back, I want to own one so bad. But afraid it might be too much trouble to own.
Just found a used stelvio 2018 ti 30k miles with driver assistance package for 25000. Really considering it for my next car. I was considering a Macan but you get really good, if not better car for half the price.
LEDs give you no benefits over HIDs unless we're talking about adaptive/Matrix ones which are illegal in the US. Well designed HIDs (and the curve adaptive ones in the Alfa are very well made) are still excellent with greater range than LEDs.
LED projector lights are the better choice if you can...manufacturers seem to think and push “LEDs are always better” when they’re just now reflectors that don’t blind traffic, but no better benefit than standard halogen. Guess if anything it’s more energy efficient?
Great, informative review. Thank you. I didn't know you could remote turn turn off the car! We've owned the 2017 Giulia TI AWD Lusso with the paddle shifters for over a year, and now we're getting the 2018 Stelvio. We like the look, handling, and performance of the vehicle; and so far, the Giulia has been reliable. The quirks take getting used to, but the reward of really good handling and good acceleration with a decent ride make it worthwhile. It's a good value too. Love the Germans, but they charge a bit much for options that lots of others include for little to no added cost!
I don't think it's very accurate to call this a base engine. It only has 1 engine. The Quadrifoglio model is like $40,000+ more. Can you really compare the two? They are completely different classes
I got one and it broke after 10 days, at least they gave me another one with like 8k less options, they can't figure how to fix mine, so I am driving a loner for almost 2 months already
The limit on the revs range is due to the typical ECU mapping for modern Turbos which pick up very early in the revs band for early torque / power. It has nothing to do with reliability. A typical setting amongst manufacturers (from the rest of the world) to improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions.
traction control can't be disabled. It's a automatic AWD system. The Quadrifoglio version is a beast, and it carries a better infotainment. Anyway those who want a good infotainment or comfort shouldn't be looking at this car. This is the most sporty driving SUV there is.
I would argue this, I would say the Volvo XC60 T6 is more sporty, the Alfa's steering is better, but that's it, same price point as the Volvo and being 100% honest here, the Volvo is a far superior vehicle.....BTW, I own a Giulia QV, I love that car, so I was really hoping the Stelvio would be great when the wife said she wanted a new SUV.
The F-Pace didn't impress me, Porsche is a whole different price point, the Volvo is a total package. The Stelvio is nice, but at the price point, the Vovlo is better.
Hmmm..Not quite there Dave....I've owned 4 XC 60's in a row....all R Design...all in line 6 cylinder turbos....Nice cars but have a FWD bias....the Stelvio Ti Sport which I now own and has replaced my Volvo is way more dynamic....not even close....even though it's a 4 cylinder turbo with 40 less horsepower....The steering is amazing and the chassis is LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF THE VOLVO.....
Hey Sofyan, love your reviews, very informative and detailed. I am curious though as to why you don't mention safety ratings in your reviews? The Stelvio for instance is rated higher than a XC90 on EuroNcap and is higher than many new Crossovers on IIHS, which I found suprising lol.
What other SUV does 0-60 in the 5 second range? (with a base engine?) No other manufacturer it seems wants to deliver this level of performance for less than $60k. Who else will save us from the monotony of sterile commutes???
Hi there, I really enjoy your videos. I have a small tip for you, you say "uh" a lot in your videos, I think it might be a little easier to listen if you said that less. That being said, great video! I really love Alfa's new cars:)
Food for thought: Getting 280 hp & 306 lbs of torque from a 2.0 ltr engine means this is one high strung puppy. I wonder how durable and trouble free such an engine can be? In comparison, the Mazda CX-5 Signature is 2.5 ltr and only puts out 250 hp. Obviously, Mazda could have gotten another 50 to 75 hp from that engine, but chose to let the engine loaf which should allow for less trouble in the future. That being said I still would not mind owning the Stelvio
Thanks Sofyan I was really putting the Stelvio into consideration-although it looks like a Kia Sportage from the back is not a big deal too much. I must say with your review I would have been disappointed with the CUV months after purchase. Traverse seems like a more confident buy. Thanksvfor your review.
Sofyan did you do a recommendation for the best tires for this car? I just purchased the 2018 Stelvio ti sport and want to get better tires than those on it from the lease turn in.
Really like the Stelvio but can't afford it? Me too. And my answer was to buy a 2019 MAZDA CX 5 Grand Touring Reserve in that beautiful "Soul Red Crystal". ($34,050.) ->Both the Reserve and top of the line Signature come very "loaded". Check out the two and you'll find a 2.5 L. turbo four AWD with such niceties as holographic heads up dash info, steerable headlights, heated and cooled seats, 10 speak Bose stereo, etc., etc. ->Plus the CX5 turbos "get to 60" in 6.4 seconds so not a dog at all. And with 50/50/ 100 octane racing gas and 91 octane premium gas it will do even better. -> Yeah the Stelvio styling is great but so is the 2019 CX 5's styling and "Stelvio similar" in many areas. And the CX 5 GT Reserve and Signature DO give you traction control you can turn off. Plus Apple Car Play and Android Auto, etc., etc.
2023 - these cars are fairly affordable nowadays for a used 2017-2018 with fairly low miles $23k for 44k miles in it. Anyone got any feedback on its reliability?
Its an italian Jeep cherokee.. I love it, yea they can put a 8.4 touch screen just like in the jeep or maserati stablemates but i have no complains thats a nice crossover 👍🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥❤️
I was just looking at your video library, and I believe you've never done a full review of any Porsche? Can this be true? Dude... you have to get your hands on a Porsche of some sort (preferably a car and not an SUV) and review.
In the Stilvio catalog android auto and Apple CarPlay are listed for this year 2018. is this true? will they do the upgrade using a software upgrade? Hope someone out there knows...
Yeah. It now has android auto and car play. Just plug in your phone. Works great. Updates are also easy to get hold of and update yourself using a USB drive with the firmware updates (available to download online) Even some of the older models from late 2017 can be updated to support AA and CarP.
Where do you think Mazda got it from. Alfa has had this look for years. In fact, I looked at a Mazda 3 because of its "Alfa" styling. Most car guys knows this.
Carlos Guevara I always thought Mazda has Italian designers. Because it's only Japan car that looks so good and Italian, even now they have best red colour which I want to see on Alfas (Renault also has this color somehow)
I test drove it. PRO: fun, huge discounts, zippy after 1st gear, fast zf transmission. Great handling. Comfortable ride. Nice interior. CON: turbo lag, paddles were too big and got in the way of using the turn signal stick, rear view mirror had a frame and looked old, the rear looks like a $25k Mazda CX-5, is Alfa Romeo going to be able to stay in business?
Nothing like a stereotype is there. I owned at V6 1990s Alfa for 6 years buying it at 6 years old. Most reliable car I’ve ever owned, never missed a beat in those 6 years.
Countries like America and Australia need at least a spare tire. If you get a side wall puncture then those puncture repair kits are useless. If your out in the expanse of the country then you get stuck with a massive towing bill. Would never buy a car without a spare.
Haha I bought this car and had a screw in the tyre second day, fixed it. But if driving long km in AUSTRALIA then yes I'd be buying a spare to put in the back.
Nice CAR. This is much more a car than a true SUV. OK, it is higher than its stablemate Julia but is it really worth the money? I would still take my 2019 MAZDA XC 5 GT Reserve over the Stelvia for not just price reasons but for reliability and "bang for the buck". True my CX 5 GT Reserve 2.5 L. turbo only gets to 60 in 6.4 seconds but I'll take that given my CX 5 has MORE safety and comfort amenities than the Stelvio. With a 4,000 lb. weight and only a 3 L. turbo engine and still getting such fast 0 - 60 times ya gotta know the engine is highly stressed. So... will you get an easy 250,000 miles from this engine turbo?
It's not a bad looking or performing crossover, but with it being an Alfa, it makes me question the long term reliability. I know it's just a stereotype for the Alfas, but stereotypes exist for a reason...
xavierp0nce some LED can be a better field of view... But you're right, HID are great. Plus they produce heat so they done freeze up in climate that have winter. I prefer hid over led.
A few folks here clearly never had experience with the A4 LED headlamps. Some HIDs are nearly as good, not do not assume HIDs are always better. Also worthy of note: a good halogen high beam still outperform higher LED or HID high beams.
Ben Haze yeah the Audi Matrix LED system is incredible! In fact Europe LED lighting systems are so much better than ours in North America. Really, halogen can be better? That'd interesting! ☺
Oh yes. Have a look at the US IIHS headlamp ratings and you may find some of the results may shocking. For example the MB C series standard halogen headlights sucks for low beam performance but the halogen high beams fare much better than the full LED option. High beam range driver/passenger side: Halogen: 450 ft/ 510ft ft; LED: 320ft / 450ft. In Canada the best option is to buy the optional LED low beams and keep the std halogen high beams and same some coins in the process. Also MB LEDs are not quite as good as the A4 excepted for the passenger low beam.
I remember seeing this car in person at a Starbucks and thought it was the most interesting car I've seen in a while. It has such a presence and looks really expensive for what it is.
Also those gloves are everything. Really adds something to this video

Imhotep Hook yes me too as well
Very Italian lol. Ferrari feel to it
Finally!!! You did a video about the Stelvio!!! I was about to leave a comment to ask you to do this. I'm so excited because it's so great!!!
i just bought one, with the red interior "firebreathing dragon red" to be wonderfully exact.
how has the reliability been?
@@itsrayden-v8g love, love, love it. Gorgeous Italian design and so much fun to drive.

@@aayonce4 how expensive is the alpha to maintain
I am very glad that they didnt go with the horrid tablet screen and digital instrument cluster
Fun Fact: Sofyan's pet peeve is audible lane departure warnings 😂😂😂
Steven Joe and no car play and android auto

Hard touch plastic
Just order the luxury leather package....leather dash and door tops.....next

Great car, very fun to drive. With a very good reliability, too. In Europe there are some vehicles with more than 100.000 km without problems.

front looks very distictive but sides and rear look fairly similar to other crossovers

Vampire_born_in_2006 Aw man no! Don't say that!
Vampire_born_in_2006 what happened to it? What did it start doing? Electrical issues?
it starting accelerating slower than Prius, they waited for turbo assembly from Italy, then it didn't help, now they are not sure how to fix it
it drives much better than all competitors though, and exterior is way sexier, I didn't find any reliability complaints, it's too new.

Y'all underestimating Alfa's so much but that Stelvio looks great.
Alfa looks pretty nice, wonder how they will hold up over time.
I've had my 2017 for three years now and have had no problems. Well, to be accurate the rear seat latch broke, but big deal.
Stelvio seems to have better luck than the Giulia, but the new 2021 model seems to have fixed most reliability problems.

xavierp0nce some LED can be a better field of view...
Looks very similar to my FX and I love it
