  • I’ve repetitively been lying to myself throughout my recovery and before I fully committed to it. In this video, I share with you some of the lies I told myself which only held me back to reach the point I am today. I’m aware it’s a bit long but I simply couldn’t cut it any shorter without explaining myself as I wanted to. I sincerely hope you found it helpful to listen to my advice, thoughts and perspective on such sensitive topics as these. Remember, you should always seek professional help if you’re struggling. This is only some of the lies I told myself during my recovery and I’d like to share even more with you, if you find it helpful.

    Sharing this video feels like a breath of fresh air - even though I’m revisiting my past. As mentioned, I feel responsible to share the knowledge I’ve gained through my experience in recovery from an eating disorder with the purpose to help those of you, who need that extra push. I do remember saying I did not want to post more about this certain topic on my channel but what I also learned from making this video is how far I’ve come myself - which I wanted to honor as well.
    I’m aware it’s a bit long but I couldn’t cut it any shorter, nor did I want to. I personally think these topics deserves a few minutes at least to be discussed in the best way and I hope by sharing my experiences and perspectives, that you’ve gained the confidence and motivation to to what’s best for you. I’d really love to know, If you’ve experienced the same, agree or even disagree with me - that’s the thing about recovery too. Not a two journeys are the same because not two people are the same.
    Let me know if you want me to turn these videos into a series. Thank you for listening xx

      We often tell ourselves lies in order to ease our minds, but it is when we sit in the uncomfortable that we truly begin to flourish, if I've learned anything this years is that sitting with ones feelings is so beneficial, instead of trying to push them away and forgetting about them. It is why I do my own UA-cam vlogs giving advice and sharing insights with others is my way of reflecting on my emotions, and the things around me
      Thank you for sharing your thoughts, as another content creator I appreciate seeing these types of videos, as people like you can reach so many, my wish for 2024 is to get to a point where I can do the same with the community I have began creating

    Something that I struggled (and still struggle) with in my recovery is falling into traps of disguised restriction, such as intermittent fasting. I became very interested in intermittent fasting this past summer and although I wouldn’t admit it at the time, really I was just looking for some way to restrict myself because after about a year of eating intuitively again I was growing discontent with my eating & my body. I tried intermittent fasting for a few days but I stopped after seeing a video on Abbie the dietician’s channel about how intermittent fasting can mess up women’s periods. I had just gotten my first natural period of my life that summer and I was extremely happy about it so I wasn’t willing to risk losing it again. Looking back at it now, all of the UA-cam videos I had watched on intermittent fasting that inspired me to start were made by men.

    • @katharinaschneiderr
      @katharinaschneiderr  5 місяців тому +1

      I myself believe that everyone should do what feels the best for themselves, but personally, I've only had bad experiences with intermittent fasting. I think this lies deep into the 'setting rules' and controlling my food intake around a certain time, place etc. which only made me feel horrible - and destroyed my hunger signals. It's definitely interesting to know more about the scientific part of it! I'll watch some of that myself. I am SO PROUD for you to get your period back! That is absolutely amazing ❤❤❤

    this video is amazing! I love the way you edit, i'm truly inspired by your style and also these lies are ones I told myself and its such a good reminder that we are never alone in these feelings and that we shouldn't fault ourselves for having these thoughts, but they don't need to be listened to ever!

I hope your food feels better soon sounds like planter fascitis swelling of the tendon going along your food i have had that its very painful for while. Great vlog as always, have you ever thought of becoming a motivational speaker? to girls and guys who may be going threw an eating disorder> I think clients would respond really well to you and your story by educating them on what you have had to do to recover you mentioned at the beginning of your video about a girl you noticed in the gym that seemed to be struggling maybe try reaching out to her slowly maybe you might be able to help her for sure. Love all of your vlogs everything you create. Have a great rest of your week head winds are not helpful thats for sure especially when having to clean up snow.

      gaining weight = gaining your life back
      there is no moral value that we should place on it
      you will get to run again, and think of it like this, once your body is recovered you will be even a better runner than before, once you trust your body, and allow yourself to listen to it so it can protect you and nourish you, that is when you become the best version of yourself
      you can do it, and you are doing it
      keep choosing yourself
      and like I often like to remain other with my own UA-cam videos is that baby steps are better than no progress at all, so take it day by day, you will get there to a place that doesn't feel as scary anymore

      I've gained 10+ kgs since I started. It was terrifying at first but slowly, as I reached this point, it became easier and easier.
