This video is a lifesaver. I keep following tutorials about how to do specific things but the nodes aren't explained in any way, they just say "oh you use this node and then this node and plug this here" but no one explains the WHY.
This will allow me to do my own stuff, hopefully with less tutorials.
I think I'm finally to the point where most of these explanations aren't helpful to me (which is good, self progress) but I genuinely wish I had this video 4 months ago. Still learned some things from this even now. Really useful!
@@DadBod1818 Even better. Slimewad. Dragon Quest Slime + Meatwad 😁
When you can craft stuff without tuts you are on your way! I use unreal at work, I sometimes still hit tuts for ideas where to start a thing
@@graithen8955 Oh I'm still following courses and tutorials on how to get things started but I'm being able to theorize how to make stuff and getting better at mixing spaghetti code and using nodes on my own!
@@graithen8955 the learninig and growing process never stops
I am in an Unreal Engine design course as I write this comment, and you have taught me more than my college professor, bravo
inspire your professor after class
Thank you so much. I have purchased multiple blueprint courses and all failed to really teach. It was all just "copy exactly what I'm doing and I wont tell you anything that's going on so that when you try to change it you break it and have no clue why". You actually explained everything and just off of this very basic info I can make basic games and functionality.
This is really good. The simplest explanation of these that I’ve seen.
quick, simple and yet informative. thank you so much!
Great video! I know the time drags out a little, but I wouldn't mind at all if the video was another 15 minutes in length and you slowed down quite a bit when explaining everything. Even exaggerate right-clicking and finding the node could be slower. You gotta remember that you already have all of this info memorized, we the audience have absolutely no idea what we're doing.
That was amazing, I feel smarter already ❤
INVALUEABLE video! I'm making a Smash TV clone and I wanted it to shoot when you moved the R stick without having to press a button. Well the polling rate of the R stick was causing it to go haywire and shoot forever and glitchy. Do Once was exactly what I needed to filter the constant feed of stick coordinates going to the fire function.
Finally! Somebody who explain the nodes!
haha init! I swear most beginner tutorial guys dont understand nodes themselves sometimes and just gloss over
Look up "mathew wadstein" or "wtf are ue4" or litterally just search the name of any node and he probably did a video about it.
Amazing work buddy
Extremely helpful, thank you very much!
This was great, thank you. More plz!
Thank you. this video is very useful for beginners
More pls-good stuff👍
will do
Awesome stuff!
thank you sir for this valuable knowledge👍
Perfect for lunch break
: | Unlucky know them all already.
sorry bro, in this video I cover more the beginner nodes, maybe I will do an advanced one
THIS
IS
PEAK UNREAL EDUCATIONAL CONTENT.
EDIT:
What are some in-game examples that would require all the other Boolean logic? (e.g. AND Boolean, OR Boolean, NOT Boolean, etc.)
EDIT 2:
Okay, so it's great that you're explaining a majority of these nodes and going through the logic, but I think it would also help newer learners (like myself, especially when it comes to coding) if you have a demonstrable, relevant in-game example. Like, maybe referring to a single-player action game, or an adventure game, or a racing game, etc. for when showcasing logic of these BPs and how it would be implemented in the example of choice's genre. Of course, I understand that's more work for something that's free, but it's just something I wanted to mention.
Aside from that, these are so very helpful for me and I'm very grateful that you're putting these out.
One minor gripe that's not related to the subject matter, it's very hard to distinguish what you're saying at times because of the microphone. Despite that, again, everything else is very helpful and great for something that's free.
So in my limited experience, I wanted to not be able to attack while in the air on my project. Used a "Falling - NOT" boolean before a branch check for this.
Thanks you so much 🙏😊
No problem 😊
thank you very much
Great video!! Can you make a video about how you can connect data assets to specific blueprint or bp component ?
Thank yo, so many features don't even know where to start
This has to be the best tutorial I have come across so far! Will you be making more videos about nodes in the future?
yeah I am going to another one of this where I cover more advanced nodes, and I will be doing another tip video since people enjoyed that
@@UnrealUniversity awesome to hear! I have one more question it’s rather specific but are you planning on covering a hack and slash tutorial at some point?
Nice
Real one
Alright i gotta ask cause i dont think nobody is gonna ask this. But after you insert any object into the game play area. Basically the area the third person gameplay takes place in. And then you hit play to run around and test the color changing material. @ 1:05 . How come your BP Example sphere that turns red, did not disappear and become hidden? Specifically after you exit play mode. This is a bug i have been working around with a loophole i know, and i know it has nothing to do with the world partition settings cause i have yet to touch it. please help.
💯
Why do I feel all these tutorial videos for UE are done at 20X the speed?
😌
12:24 Otherwise known as the chancla node.
I think the information in the video is good for beginners, but the guy in the video should use a cleaner method to position the nodes on the graph.
For him, who is already familiar with it, having two nodes next to each other and adding another completely unrelated one while explaining might be common.
However, for a beginner, it's a visual chaos that only confuses them and makes them pause the video more often than usual.
Apologies will take that on board
I have spent way to long without knowing about both AND and OR
Did you know you been published by mascot bro studios
yeah I am working with them :)
@@UnrealUniversity yeah they discovered your game
send to developers best selling game idea paid to play called centillion miniverses about a space ship that fast generates factories that produce one centillion miniverses per second
Anyone knows similar videos but with an Indian accent? I can't make out half the words being said 😭
Get a better microphone that doesn't record constant background noise and keyboard/mouse sounds. They are terribly annoying and make it hard to follow and not click away
I have good microphone it's just my pc gets so loud and my microphone is next to my pc cause I need to record, I need to find a solution
@@UnrealUniversity Oh okay, maybe try to use some sort of noise reduction? I really like your videos but the keyboard and mouse sounds annoy me which is unfortunate
U totally stole this video, the thumbnail, the content, and especially the name of the video all are stolen from an Unreal youtuber named Cason Quizenberry. It's a shame to see a good unreal channel blatantly steal and copy from another channel without credit especially when u r pushing us to buy ur online course. A real shame! Give credit and do better!
Actually I got the video idea and similar thumbnial from this video : ua-cam.com/video/cQ0qtcSymDI/v-deo.html&pp=ygURYWxsIGJsZW5kZXIgbm9kZXM%3D thats why I wanted to aim for around 30 minutes, although covering every unreal engine node would pratically be impossible, this video actually just features most of the nodes which I cover in my free unreal engine course which I think are important and I made that 2 years ago and it follows the exact same format, you can check it out if you don't beleive me, did you know its possible for more than one person to have the same idea
hes quiet now lol
Ya I wouldn't have cared even if he was inspired by my video. This is a great vid that is helping to teach more people about Unreal, and it's great to see more videos breaking down the basics. Great vid!
