  • Hey Guys! Welcome to our channel - That Nerdy Guy!
    Today we are going to show you how to change the battery of your Hyundai Smart Key.
    These keys are available for certain models of the Hyundai Family, like the Xcent, Grand i10, Elite i20, Elantra. Verna etc.
    Hyundai will charge a lot for replacing these, which actually cost very little.
    The market is full of counterfeit batteries though, which will look exactly similar, cost less, but will definitely run out within a few months to a year. The originals last about a couple to three years.
    Links to purchase the original battery:
    Pack of 5: amzn.to/2DyFJ0h
    Pack of 10: amzn.to/2DBEVYq
    I would always recommend you buy at least 5 to keep as spares at home. Buying less is actually more expensive in the long run.

    Thanks a lot man! still works as of 2023 on a 2015 hyundai i30 CRDi 1.6 keyless. Like the other comments have stated, key is really tight and if battery never has been replaced or it's case never pried open like mine you have to pry rather hard to get it open without breaking the case. Thanks again for showing me how to do it correctly! 👊

    Thanks mate! Exactly as some others have said, this key was so tight, I never would have thought it would crack open, without seeing you do it.

    Thanks. Excellent video. I would not have opened the key without the video as it is quite stiff and I would have been worried about breaking the case.

    my car told me "low key battery' only after 2 months of purchase, I didnt take it on, until i couldnt open the door after work this evening. I manually opened it, the alarm went crazy, everybody in work must have heard it. However, I have been reading the car manual, so i placed the key against the start button and pressed, and the alarm went off and the car started.

    So when I press the little round button my key doesn't come out, it's like stuck. Can I take the key apart with the metal key inside ?

    • @thatnerdyguy136
      @thatnerdyguy136  4 роки тому

      All smart keys can be done this way... you may have to pry a bit harder.

      Please make sure its a smart key. Others are not designed to be opened. You can also try with a screwdriver wider than the opening. Pit the tip in at an angle and then twist while holding the key housing. It should open

    Opened from the back, it is faster. Remove the back and change the battery. German: Von hinten aufgemacht geht es schneller. Rückseite ab und Batterie wechseln.

    How will I know if the battery is low....I mean will the led blink or not ?

    • @thatnerdyguy136
      @thatnerdyguy136  5 років тому

      Your key will simply stop working as a remote... or worse... your multifunction display will keep resetting (if this happens it can be either of key battery or car battery that is down)

    • @MrAndy0589

      @@thatnerdyguy136 my key is not opening the door locks, but the led is blinking.

      Try with the spare key. If it unlocks, battery of 1st key is down. If you are not given a spare key in your area, change the battery. Tap the engine start stop key with the smart key to register a press, since it doesn't have a keyslot

      The car will tell you key is low batt. Also you will know if you have to get closer and closer to lock or unlock your doors

      Better, keep 1 battery inside the car all the time. So whenever your battery will low. U can change on the spot
