Fix White Spots on TV Screen
Hey Guys! Welcome to our channel - That Nerdy Guy!
Today we are going to show you how to fix white spots that develop in LED Backlit TV's.
This problem is actually quite common as the LED's tend to heat up the adhesive holding the reflectors in place. As a result, they fall out of their place and these spots develop.
Manufacturers charge anything from 3000 to 5000 to fix this simple issue, by changing the entire array. The actual job is quite simple and can be easily done with a bit of courage and steady hands.
You do need some specialized tools, like:
A small Screw Driver Set: amzn.to/2KKi3uw
A Large Screw Driver Set: amzn.to/2KE56lD
Microfibre Cloth: amzn.to/2ubOsyR

    A over view of the job, but you really skip over some very important things ... like how the 'display cables' go out and into the connectors ... as I found very late in the project, the black part of the display connector 'snaps back' by either placing your fingernail under the edge and lifting up, or holding the cable 'tag' and rolling it toward you to release the black part of the connector. And when putting the flat cable back into the connector, don't try to push the cable into the connector; use your fingernail to flip the black part of the connector open, then carefully center the flat cable until it fits down into the guides on the connector, then press the black part back down against the flat cable. Another connector that could be better described is the one on the speaker case. If you take a small flat blade screwdriver and push the 'tab' on the top of the connector away from the connector, it will release the little 'catch' and let the connector come right out. These are the little things that can baffle a newcomer, or even cause damage when they try to figure it out. Another hint while putting things back together ... when putting the screws in around the edges, and into the cover, a slightly magnetic phillips screwdriver helps to hold the screw on the end of the screwdriver as you place the screw into the hole -- then, before tightening the screw, turn it BACKWARDS until you feel and hear it snap into the threads; then tighten the screw. This avoids forcing the screw to go against the threads. Do not tighten any of the screws around the edges all the way, until all the screws are seated and started -- this leaves some 'wiggle room' for aligning all the screws. When all the screws are started, then go around and tighten them up snugly. A little more detail on the sequence of putting things back together would help the novice also ... it took me a few tries to figure out the sequence of putting the diffusers and the display screen together.

    Thanks a lot man! still works as of 2023 on a 2015 hyundai i30 CRDi 1.6 keyless. Like the other comments have stated, key is really tight and if battery never has been replaced or it's case never pried open like mine you have to pry rather hard to get it open without breaking the case. Thanks again for showing me how to do it correctly! 👊

    One thing I will add to anyone wanting to try their own TV repair. Unplaug the TV overnight, personally I would unplug it for 24 hours at least before attempting any repair as the PCB can store a LOT of power in it. Enough to kill you. But otherwise good work

    Great video and worked well for my Vizio. I noticed that the lenses that came loose were behind the power supply. Perhaps the heat affected the glue?

    • @thatnerdyguy136
      @thatnerdyguy136 2 роки тому

      Yes the heat is the issue. LEDs themselves generate far more heat. Those affect the glue as well

    I am a 79 year old senior citizen . I gave my Toshiba 39 inch LED tv with two white large spots on the screen to a service company and they said the back panel had to be changed . They brought back the tv after few days. The white spots had disappeared but a new problem of two small vertical lines had appeared in the screen and this was not there earlier. They said to keep it a few days and it might go away . The very next day the whole screen became black and there was no picture or sound. They took the tv back and after keeping it with them for 6 months ,brought it back. It is working now but two vertical lines are still there. They are telling this problem is with the panel and it can not be repaired. They are asking for a payment of Rs.3500.00 now in addition to Rs.4000 paid earlier. I think the lines problem was caused by the company while repairing in the first instance. Any guidance on the issue ?

    • @thatnerdyguy136
      @thatnerdyguy136 2 роки тому

      They probably bent the panel while removing it. It is a common issue with panels if the technician is not careful while removing the panel and it flexes too much. There is unfortunately no solution to this other than getting a new tv

    • @thatnerdyguy136

      Nope. If you use an iphone, go for an apple watch if you can afford it. If on samsung or any other android, go for galaxy watch, or amazfit gts or gtr2. Wear OS is improved but still buggy. Fitbit lost their way. Tizen gives the best wearable experience this side of IOS and Amazfit is the king of endurance
