Laurel Avenue - Sheila, Fletcher & Anthony

Laurel Avenue the two-part TV cable movie (1993) and Soul Food (1997) movie have strong character parallels. Sheila Arnett (Michelle Williams) like the character Bird in the Soul Food movie is the youngest daughter who is bright and and a goal setter. Both characters draw and enable the 'bad boys' in their lives. Anthony (Gary Dourdan) and a troubled High School basketball star (Ulysses Zachary) are her suitors.

It's funny that both Gary Dourdan & Malinda Williams have played these types of characters twice w/ each other. They were in Sunset Park, she played a high school student & he played the dreadlock old dude, mackin' & picking her up in front of the school lol smh. They also played on Showtime's Soul Food together. He played her husband Lem's janky cousin.
