A lot of people don't understand how important it is to check the coolant level. They expect a mechanic to do that during an oil change. I never trust a mechanic completely. I always check the engine's oil level before I drive away after an oil change. I remember a man who took his vehicle to a shop for an oil change. The mechanic drained all the oil from the engine and forgot to add new oil.

That was a helpful video. Thank you. I don't live in a cold climate so I have no need for antifreeze. I have never used antifreeze in any of my vehicles and have had no problems whatsoever. Of course if I lived in a cold climate I would use antifreeze. That's why they call it antifreeze!😊

my car has a coolant reservoir and radiator cap, do i add the coolant only to the reservoir or also through the radiator cap?

Add to the radiator when it’s cold

There's no reason to remove the radiator cap and add coolant. A radiator cap can become damaged from frequent use and cause the radiator to start leaking coolant. It's best to refill the coolant through the reservoir.

@@anablackford7457 The reservoir is part of the coolant tank. The extra coolant accumulates in the reservoir. There is an L and F on the side of the reservoir. The L is for Low. The F is for Full. You want to make sure the antifreeze level is never below the L. Antifreeze is not something that evaporates quickly. The weather would have to be extremely hot for that to happen.

@@anablackford7457 You could remove the radiator cap and start adding antifreeze. You wouldn't know how much to add. Only the reservoir has Low and Full indicators on the side of it. Any antifreeze that you pour into the reservoir will eventually end up circulating through the vehicle and prevent the engine from overheating.

My question is this.... should the car be running while putting antifreeze in the car or should the car be off & cool down?
