Scotty Kilmer hey Scotty I ordered a vss and it wasn't quite the same but I was able to install it now something is causing my battery light to come on even with new alternator. Could it be the VSS?
Does a automatic transmission shift normally if the speed sensor cable is broken? My cars transmission won't shift anymore and the speed indicator is on 0 when I'm driving.

..my speedometer stopped working in 08 suzuki sx4. Looked up part you suggest but abs speed sensor keeps coming up..is that the same thing? When i read on it mentions driver side rear side. I had seen part on autozone that looks like part you show yet costs up to $100, is that correct for the right part?

the tach itself generally breaks in the dash unit, they cost a ton, leave it. But the speedo works off a cable on most 93s, so check the speedo cable, it's probably broken.
Hello Scotty, I have a quick question if you don't mind. My car is a 2000 Montero Sport 3.0 and I have this weird issue related to ECU's speed and rpm readings. The car idles a bit rough and has loss of power...After reading the live data from ECU(idle) it was showing crazy fluctuations in RPMs and that the car was moving at random speeds (Speedometer looks normal). Disconnecting the VSS the ECU reading went back to normal.
Replaced the VSS and the issue is back.
Besides replacing VSS, I have replaced crank position sensor and cam position sensor. Any thoughts on this?

check the connector inside the dash unit, they can get loose and do that, and so can a circuit board on the dash that's burning out.

far as I'm concerned, all saabs belong in a junkyard, the company recently went bankrupt and no one wants to buy them. Ignition takes place with individual ignition coils placed on the spark plug concerned. The plug together with the ignition coil and CDM are used to detect combustion and any knocking.
This means that neither a camshaft sensor nor a separate knock sensor are required. Over engineering to the max.
Saab 900 was a beast Scotty ! Atleast the engine was bulletproof anyways...
I was going to ask also if both the odometer and the speedometer is not working is this due to the speed sensor also ?
1 more question also if you can reply. My radiator fan turns on automatically when i start my car. Doesn't turn off at all... cars computer seems to be fine everything works. Would it be bad wiring or would it be another sensor problem?

But i also have something to ask,
I own a 1993 honda accord. And the car has been sputtering, Like when i get up to speed, And stay at 1 speed, Like 55 MPH. The car starts sputtering, It started doing this last saturday, Not sure if you would know what is making it do that. But any help would be appreciated, Thanks

number one problem on that model is a wearing out distributor causing hesitation and eventual non starting. Number two is a carboned up engine, try my video "how to clean fuel injectors on your car"

Hey Scottie, love your channel! I have a 2002 coachman Miranda that the speedometer moves but goes and stays between 80_90. I had my sister follow me and I was going 45. Would this same fix apply? It's hard to find anything on motorhome repair. I wish you lived closer! Hard to find a good repair shop. Thank you and never stop your videos. You have helped a lot of women know what is going on with their car so they don't get ripped off .

check the fuses and the wiring connector that goes to the dash, it often gets corroded and loses power.

If I push the screen, It shows the correct mileage and when I let it go, some of the numbers fade out. 2002 Nissan Xterra 3.3L .... Thank in advance, sir.

thank you it took me weeks to find out werther it was the speedometer or the bcu or the abs even when i changed it and the light went out but that got fix i just have to find out how to get to my transition on my mini copper chilli pack. took a lot of searching on the net till i come across your video.
rarely a fuse, but wiring or speedo head itself are the common problems plus the sensor itself
Scotti I love your channel. Please advise: at 2005 KIA Sorento speedometer gauge start at 20 not Zero mls/h and during driving always displays 20 more!. Computer voltage: 9.6 instead 5.5
no, remove the end on the transmission and get spray lube to spray up into the cable assembly
try this fix, pray it works, cause if not, electronic faults in the rest of the system are hell to diagnose. Though many guys will just gamble with a used junk yard dash unit if sending unit doesn't fix it

Can I ask, does the speedo pick up the signal from the engine ecu or transmission ecu? I’m my case I have an input and output sensor on the transmission. I am seeing a speed reading on my transmission data but 0kmh on my engine data. How does it work? Opel corsa c 1.4 2005

check the dash fuse, if not that, remove the dash, check the wiring connectors for shorts, pray the dash circuitry hasn't melted down as it often does on chrysler products.
normally a bad gas gauge sending unit in the tank does that, but bad wiring can also do that
Hey Scotty love all your videos there great!!! Scotty I'm looking at buying a 2012 Honda Civic Coupe. The odometer shows 58 000 km and I find that hard to believe, is there any way that the mileage tracker can be disconnected or replaced, I'm sure it can be, in saying that it would have to be you on the end of the screwdriver and not me lol. Hope your enjoying your vette!
since the code reader shows the mileage, either wiring going to the dash or the dash unit is bad. Most guys try a used dash from a junk yard first, last one I did fixed that same problem for 75 bucks when I bartered.

Hey I love your work. You make things look so simple. I bought a 06 Suzuki grand vitara v6 2wheel drive. My Esp light keeps coming on when I first start the vitara. My check engine light blinks and I loose speed. Sometimes it vibrates. Its going through a lot of fuel. Can you please help?
