I was beginning to wonder if it was going to work or not. Then i tried something similar. I bent the zip tip in a weird angle, so the peg would catch along the zip tip while i was pushing up on the needle. Once it reached 58 mph, it was almost like a spring was turned on, and it slammed to 0 mph.
Oh, and thanks for posting this video, I would have never thought of doing something like this.
I just changed alternator on my exact same Chevy. Speedo went past 100mph and stopped working for some reason, and I did the exact thing this guy did and fixed it no problem. Great video thank you!!
same deal. zip tie worked great
this happened to my dads fuel gauge, i had to fixed the same way
It works
This worked for me too! Thanks for the tip
You're welcome!

You're welcome!
Hey it worked thanks a lot
You're welcome!
100 mph = 160 km/h
Worked! Thanks a bunch! I did also shave a little piece of the zip tie to stick up and catch the needle. Worked great. Thanks again!
Glad it helped! This is helping a lot of people and I'm glad it is.
And what to do if my speedometer when am driving the vehicle when it reaches 100mph doesn't go beyond that while my car has maximum speed of 180mph??? What can be done????
worked on a 99 Lexus, most satisfying repair ever.....Thanks
Awesome! You're welcome.
Mine was stuck right under zero and wouldn't go up, I turned it off and on 3 times and it went to normal
Now how fast can you go without it messing up
99mph
What happens when you get the needle above the halfway point, though? Does it go back to 100+ or does it fall back like it's supposed to?
Also, my needle sticks in cold weather, but works fine in warmer weather, or if I let the car warm up for a long time. When it sticks, it doesn't budge off of 0. When it finally does move, it kinda skips, rather than moving smoothly. Once the car is warmed up and runs for a while, no problem, unless I'm parked for a few hours (at work).
I smoke in the car, so I'm guessing it's most likely nicotine and not a bad sensor, as it works just fine in warmer weather, but I'd like a second opinion before I start taking the dash apart and trying to get some Gunk Out behind the needle.
Less than a minute and it flipped back over and works perfectly. Thank you. And I didn't even try driving my pickup over 70 in a 55 to make it happen. Put a new battery in yesterday to create the problem.
That's exactly what happened to cause this problem. You're welcome.
I put a new battery in my 2000 Blazer and now mine is stuck on 100. Im going to try this. Wish me luck.
