Love the build. Just watch out, the factory springs can float past 4200 rpm. Also the rocker arm studs are press fit, not screwed studs Springs and threaded studs would should be the next mod since You're now cammed.
I ran into valve float issues under boost last summer, in lieu of aftermarket valve springs I’ve now got .060” shims under new stock valve springs to up the seat pressure and I haven’t had any issues since
@@WastedPaycheckGarage love the truck and want to see more. Just be carefull about those press in studs then. Back when people raced these engines in the day it was common to pop those rocker arm studs out with increased spring pressure and rpm. Do you think you'll do a dyno day sometime. I'd love to see what your making to the wheels.
Ahhh I can't wait to drive ny f150 eith the 300. I want to build it so bad but it's a lot of money I don't have yet. At least no turbo yet haha. Any tips for the fuel injected 300 rebuild? All I see is the older carb setups. They are no help lol
Curious for what you get in terms of fuel economy. Is the turbo setup more performance or does it help improve it at all? Was thinking about doing this kind of build myself so wanted to see what I should expect.
It has an exhaust cutout that was open for this video, but it does have a flowmaster flowFX straight thru muffler. It’s pretty tame with the cutout closed
Comp 268. 3” from turbo back with a cutout behind the cab. After the cutout there’s a flow master flowFX straight thru muffler but the cutout was open for this whole video
It was fun but I'm ready to turn it up. Guessing it's 300hp 400ft-lbs. Building a second engine right now. Custom grind cam, promaxx head, forged everything. Gunning for 500hp
I’m going to put a 300 in a 1963 F250 with 4.86 gears. Is yours 4.11 gears? And did your Tach say 2200rpm at 80? I’m planning on using the same transmission
@@WastedPaycheckGarage if you get over 500ft/lbs then I want to know because I've always wanted a built turbo 300 inline to out in an f350. Just to be unique. I currently have an 04 f350. And it would have so much room for a 300
That has to be the best sounding 300 Ive heard.
I had one of these and got over 400,000 miles out of it. The tyranny finally let go but the engine still ran fine. They are truly bullet proof.
I have always wanted to build a boosted 4.9, ever since I had a 1991 f150. Awesome job

They make a cheap kit to stud the stock press in rockers, I believe it technically for a ls but works for 4.9
This build is so unique I love it
My favorite gas engine.
Says everyone that has owned one!
Yes lord
Closest you can get to a diesel without owning a diesel
Love your old 2-Fiddy
Awesome job! Sounds like it’s running great.
Every time i watch your channel it makes me wanna do things to my 300 😂
Ford should make a 300ci/4.9L inline 6 crate engine... I would buy it in a heartbeat!
You can buy a reman from several different builders. Between 2K to 3K
❤
Dream engine build, love it in a crew cab
Dude it sounds like a Detroit I love it.
Absolutely beautiful and sounds great too
Man that truck looks great and sounds perfect.
This is my dream truck. Sounds like a damn cummins. That thing is sweet
Or a Cummins sounds like a well built Ford 300 I6.
Certified Beauty 👌 I'm definitely going to copy you with my Red 1980 F150
Bro that is just nothing but to damn cool
That sound is fantastic!!
I hope one day I can find one of these jewels. 😅 dream truck ☝🏾👍🏼
Sweet truck! Really a cool build and the thing sounds incredible.
I have this engine in my 94 F250 with a 4 speed manual, if I wasn't relying on this for a work truck I would give it this treatment
Best 79' on UA-cam 👍👍
Yes! More of this please!
My dream truck right there
Good Job! I am jealous! my 79 f100 has a carb problem, cant get it set right to idle.
I'm not sure if you heard of him, but Junkyard Digs on UA-cam has a detailed video off how to set up a carb. Might be worth watching
Really cool rig!
Inspiration to turbo my 300.
love the build, should point that exhaust out from under the cab though. that shit isn't good to breathe in
Wow, that sounds like a diesel but cooler!
Sounds evil mean n' nasty. Well done.
Sounds like a diesel 🔥🔥🔥

nice build but I think i can put some money to power build with the 300
Got a new toy.sending you link
i really like your truck. great build anyone can build a SBF am i right ? im about to start building a 1969 f100 short bed 2wd
Is it obnoxiously loud with the cutouts open? Sounds KILLER just wouldn’t want to draw attention from the whole town as I drive by
It’s not too bad, I cruise with the cutouts open quite a bit, and I don’t close them when I go by cops
Man, if I had the money I would pay you to come to my house, use my credit card and buy all the things to turbocharge my 1987 f150 with the 300 in it.
Curious for what you get in terms of fuel economy. Is the turbo setup more performance or does it help improve it at all? Was thinking about doing this kind of build myself so wanted to see what I should expect.
What did you do for wiring harness how did you run a Holley efi I’m doing a similar build but lost when it came to the harness?
What are you using for mufflers? It sounds great? What did you do to get the sound?
It has an exhaust cutout that was open for this video, but it does have a flowmaster flowFX straight thru muffler. It’s pretty tame with the cutout closed
That looks like my old 350
Are the new rims and tires to help with grip? I personally would of kept the other rims I love the dash setup you made.
The dash is from NVU. I liked the old tires but they were miserable to ride around on all day, couldn’t hear anything over them howling
Love it
I heard you saying in another video that head was gone through. Do you have anything done to the bottom end/shortblock?
Bone stock
@@WastedPaycheckGarage sweet, that gives me hope
@@WastedPaycheckGarage So I'm right in telling all the doubters of my twin turbo build to fuck off about it immediately blowing up 😉
Where did your mirrors come from?
Considering doing a turbo 300 in my 77 f250, is there a way I can contact you for some questions? Would surely appreciate it
If you join the 300 group on facebook you should be able to find me pretty quickly, lots of people message me on there
What engine management computer you using for this?
Holley sniper
Are you running any type of knock sensor? Curious if they can be setup with the aftermarket FI.
No knock sensor, timing is pretty conservative I think
What was your mpg before the cam and do you have any idea on it now?
Haven’t checked but it was usually only 9.5 before
@@WastedPaycheckGarage Thanks
I'm your 1000th view.
What cam and what exhaust? I Have a 88 f150 and I'm debating on building the 300 6 or dropping a 302 in it that I have in my garage?

@@WastedPaycheckGarage ok thanks man. Very nice truck btw
Gotta do the SIX. Everybody has an eight....
Has it broken from detonation yet?
I'm doing the same cam and turbo in my build. Are you happy with the power? I'd love to see this thing Dyno

What size turbo are you running?
72/65
What gauge cluster is that?
New Vintage USA
it sounds sooo nasty😍
How much power is it putting out?
No idea, guessing 300hp 400ft-lbs
@@WastedPaycheckGarage tag me if or when you find out those numbers are really close to what my 6.8 triton puts out. 307hp and 427ft/lbs.
Unfortunately I’ll probably never know. Yanking it out this spring/summer and replacing with a built 300, gunning for 500hp

Decent rig! but going to have to put some Mufflers on it.
a loud vehicle is a disrespect to society and has no place.. .
🤓🤓🤓🤓
Would sound bettr if you put a quieter muffler on it.
