  • We purchased a Giantex Portable Mini Compact Washing Machine to use while we travel in our motorhome. Here we unbox and run it through the first wash and transfer it into our bathroom onboard.

    We are full time RVers and I just purchased a Costway portable washer/spin dryer. I'm really excited to get it and start washing our clothes at home instead of the laundromat! We are going to use it in the shower and will get a mat to fit under it to protect the shower floor. I know I'll still have to use a bigger washer for blankets and such, but fir everything else it will be so nice. Thanks for the great review and I'll make a video of my first load!

    You can spin the clothes out before you rinse so your rinse water works better. If you remember the washer in your house spins before it rinses.

    We have one (the lint trap would really be nice) and It works great. Our clothesline (we call our solar drier LOL) attaches to the rear of our RV. We rig up the bedroom with a line for underwear. Our bedding we use the campground washer and drier as it’s too big for the little washer. It was good to see a demo of it and know it will help others. Thank you for showing how it works.

    How has your washer held up? Just so you are aware these newer models tend to only last max 2 years with regular use as eventually the spin dryer motor burns out. But you can repair if you know how. I got rid of the one you demonstrated and a lady fixed it so I was pleased for her. I then got 2 other models and the same happened, lasting 1 year before the spin dryer went. Now I have a smaller unit but opted to get one without the spinner and do it the old fashioned way. So back to my question how is your machine holding up with regular spins?

    • @Findingourspot
      @Findingourspot  2 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for watching! Ours has held up really well. When it's too cold to air dry the clothes we tend to run to the laundry mat to get everything done faster. (We need to keep humidity out on the winter)

    Store with lids OPEN to prevent mold and smells very important. easier to use in shower stall for putting water in and draining plus it will prevent floor damage if it ever leaks if u keep it in the shower.

    Hey, love your review. 😄😄
    I have noticed a few people using this type of machine, please ensure your clothes have enough water to move freely when being washed, this type of machine washers differently to front loaders.
    This is the reason your machine is wobbly, it's fighting to wash.

    Thanks for this thorough review. My husband and I will be full time RV'ers in a couple of months & our 2003 Winnebego Adventurer 35U does not come with a washer/dryer 😪. I would love to upgrade our RV to accommodate a washer/dryer but that's just not feasible at this time...so that's why I'm looking into a portable option. Because of that, I wanted to find a video that really shows how a portable unit worked when using it in an RV. I also appreciated that you mentioned the dimensions of the unit, showed how the lint trap worked & how it can be used outside as well as inside. Super helpful!!! Thanks again 🙂

      Just a comment on your post Heather. We started out with a 2006 Gulf Stream Voyager Motor Home in 2010. It had a Splendide Washer Dryer combo (one machine, two uses) - I hated it. You could only do a few shirts, they didn't spin very dry and if you didn't stop in and shake out and sort of fold your cloths then put them back into the washer/dryer then dry the cloths they came out a wrinkled mess.
      We traded the motorhome for a camper we could permanently keep on a lot in a members owned campground in Virginia. No washer/dryer and no room for it. After several years of going to the laundromat, a friend of mine found a used Costway washer with a separate spinner (a wash tub and a spin tub) for us. I put it in the shower in the camper, filled it from the shower and washed a small load containing a throw rug, then put the cloths in the spinner. This little thing did an amazing job! The spinner did as good a job a the 1200 rpm spinner on my washer at home and much better than the laundromat washers.
      Bottom line, be careful what automatic washer you buy for your camper and I'd advise you to steer clear of the all in one units. Best of luck on your search. Mine is over - I love this portable washer. PS: I use a solar type dryer - it's better known as a clothsline! LOL

    You should maybe untwist your clothes if they bundle up, will be less vibration. More water, should be over the clothes. A rubber bathmat underneath is good👍 if it's outside a wooden platform works.

    I enjoyed your video and am thinking about getting a portable washer. Meanwhile, I bought a wet bag that I use for washing a small load (not a bag specifically for washing clothing). I figured that if it kept water out, it would also keep water in. It works pretty well for a few pieces of ladies underwear, or a couple of athletic, moisture wicking type short sleeve tops. The downside of the bag is that i have to dump everything, then add fresh water to get any kind of rinsing. I have found that for rinsing, it's just easier to do it in the sink!!

    • @Findingourspot
      @Findingourspot  3 роки тому

      That sounds great for smaller loads, we've seen a product online called a scrubba that helps to agitate the clothes for you, have you seen that one? We're thinking about getting one for super small loads (underwear and masks).

    There are markers by the filter showing the water levels: L, M, H. You might need a flashlight in order to see it. I marked mine with a marker. The machine will warp if your water is too hot. When the machine is on the ground, floor, or in the tub, it is not wobbly. It really doesn't have to spin more than 3.5 mins. Should it make really loud noise its because of balance but if you load it as you did here, you will seldom have a balance problem.

  • @Lauren-vd4qe
    @Lauren-vd4qe 3 роки тому +1

    u can also get a vertical rack electric air dryer; theres one called Dri Buddy on amazon; its like a vertical tree clothes rack you hang up your clothes on the rack put the air fan dryer on the bottom then put the cover over the whole thing and turn it on; draws very little power but dries clothes fairly well. about $100 on amazon.

    • @Findingourspot

    • @Lauren-vd4qe
      @Lauren-vd4qe 3 роки тому +1

      @@Findingourspot well it depends on how dense the fabric is im thinking. a better idea wd b to hang the clothes on hangers on a rack in the shower stall; put a fan pointed upward on the stall floor, and put a dehumidifier 70 pint in the stall also; open the roof vent, turn on the floor fan and the dehum and close the shower door; apparently that works very well.

    So while I LOVE this idea and have tossed it around, my biggest concern is that having it in the shower makes the shower unusable when it’s in there. So now where do you take a shower? Is it a hassle to pull out every time you want to shower and where do you put while showering? This is the main reason I think my hubby would be totally against us having one. 😬
