    I use one of those washers here on my off grid place. To save a bit of water I use the rinse water from the first load to use in the wash cycle on the next load. I usually have at least 2 loads to do so it saves me 5 gallons of water on each subsequent load.

      Now that’s what I call a true recycler’s mindset. 👏 You could also then use the dirty water to flush down the toilet preserving one’s fresh water for other needs. I collect rainwater for toilet flushing as well. 💦

    Eric,
    Just saying:. My house electric dryer does a load of jeans or towels for an hour. So I don't see anything wrong in the length of time it took to dry your britches. It was a "full load"in it's calculations. So it, to me, works great. Maybe the 15 minutes would work for sheets or t-shirts. They are not so heavy.
    Take care and safe travels to you and the kitty club!

      Its website says due to the vacuum technology it drys 60 percent faster than a normal dryer so it 15 minutes should have been plenty. I wonder how long the Arizona desert would have taken to dry them on a clothesline?

    • @gogereaver349
      @gogereaver349 Рік тому

      @@r3x2b0 clearly the vacuum is a gimmick when it took a hr to finish the jeans that where aruldy threw a high speed spinner that removed 99% of the water. there where just slightly damp at that point.

    In 2001 to 2004 we used those little washers in Iraq and Afganistan as active soldiers. These worked very well. The spinner was always first fail but they would last 6 months or more of running 10 to 15 hours a day. Soldiers would "book" the washer all day and night.

    I would have put one pair of jeans in at a time. It was kind of hard on the machine for those heavy items. but it's pretty cool.. and my dryer at home takes 2 runs to dry heavy jeans like those.

    I really like my washer/spin machine. I've been using it for 2 years or better. I don't know if I would ever buy a dryer like this since I tend to hang up my damp clothes either in the sun (the original solar dryer) or in the bathroom in my sticks n bricks. Thanks for sharing this new product as I do like to see new technology even if I don't use it personally.

  • @CarlJones14

    Two pairs of jeans is a tough deal. When I'm on the road and use those machines in supermarkets or service stations, the drier is enormous, but still takes 1 hour to dry jeans and towels. Also, much of this depends on how good your spinner works. If you have the space, this looks like a good product.

    • @gogereaver349
      @gogereaver349 Рік тому

    I’m not surprised on the dryer. 2 pairs of jeans is probably the heaviest load it will encounter once you get used to it. Jeans & towels are made of (usually) heavy cotton and even under normal circumstances would take the longest to dry. 2 tee shirts might go a lot faster. Lightweight fabrics like polyester would go even faster. You might have to go with 1 pair of jeans at a time. 👖or 👕👕😁

    Two pair of jeans in a house drier takes longer than other types of clothes. You didn't open to check if the jeans were drier sooner, so IMO they could have been sufficiently dry. I think you have a winner with the portable drier as long as you have the power, WHY NOT ? Thanks for the demo.

    If thats like a home dryer, the effectiveness is directly related to how clean the vent filter is. If there's any lint, it impedes the air flow, thus taking longer to dry since the moisture is blocked from escaping. Take it from a mom/grandma of over 46 years and very experienced that the laundry takes much longer than it should because the kids, dad or grandkids didn't clean the lint filter. All males, lol, gotta be honest. Happy drying Eric! 🌬🌬🌬👕👖🧦🩲👖👕🩲🩲🧦🧥🕙🕓

    NO dryer will dry jeans in 15 minutes ;) You chose the hardest items of clothing to test this dryer. I I used a "twin tub" washing machine for decades- I'm an Aussie, and twin tubs were very well liked for their low water consumption, their ability to save the rinse water for the next wash, and their fantastic spin cycle. I am 67, and still prefer to hang my washing on the line ;) but I live way out in the sticks, so no dirty smelly air to deal with. 🙃

    I love it! It would be good for a small apartment too. Not really sure how it’s off grid, since it requires 110 V, but I guess it would be if your rig is solar and inverted, or you have one of those nice little portable batteries/power station. But the appliance itself is not necessarily off grid from what I understand you saying. Makes a perfect companion to the portable washer.
    An hour for heavy jeans is not unreasonable. It would probably take 45 min in the laundromat. I think the 15 minutes is just a suggestion or starting point.
    Thanks for showing it to us, Eric!

    A few years ago I saw a review on this type of tech dryer. It basically rejected it. "Technically" ALL driers are Vacuum driers, as they have a fan pulling air through the drier to dry the clothes. (The one that was being reviewed claimed it dried with "vacuum" power, yet pulled virtually no vacuum in the unit.)
    It was really, maybe, only good for small loads. (a tshirt, socks, undies, shorts. Basiclly a 1 person 1 day load.) and was convenient for that, but was, NOT better than a regular drier. I.E. if you dry 5 daily "loads", it would take just as long, (If lot longer) than a regular drier would take doing all 5 loads at one time. And if you dried heavy clothes, Like jeans or sweat shirts, big towels, it took much longer to dry.

    I would imagine it would dry quicker if you didn't overload. The time to do two pairs of jeans separately might be less than doing two together. Could end doing laundry everyday instead of once a week.

    I think you also have to take into account that you're outside too in 50°F . Usually a dryer is in a warmer temperature inside a building. But I like the idea of it being light enough to take outside and run it so that the moisture isn't venting into the RV. I think it's a great machine and is super handy... know several people that are happy with it. I bought a panda dryer when I lived in my RV. I wanted to be able to wash and dry my blankets, and the panda was big enough. I couldn't carry it outside though and it took up more room that the Morus dryer. Also used a small apartment sized white chef portable washing machine. Both were great machines.. but you have to have a large travel trailer or a 5th wheel to accommodate their size.

    Line dry in 20 minutes..would be nice for unmentionables and smaller items,cause they take longer hanging up and taking down than this could dry them.

    My buddy and I have off grid houses in AZ and my buddy uses a regular gas 120 volt dryer not hooked up to gas. He just runs the dryer through 2 cycles and the cloths just air dry with doubling the time. During the day we make pleanty of power to run the electric motor for the dryer all day long so he doesn't care that it takes twice the time to dry a load of cloths, but we are in AZ where there is little to no humidity which is key.

    The dryer is too small. Those jeans are gonna be sooooo wrinkled when they come out of it.

      Yes they might actually dry better if he had taken and shook them out a bit.

    As long as it dries the clothes properly I wouldn't really care how long it takes. I think it's great for something to use especially off grid. The size of the unit is perfect for an RV. But I'm sure if you had a couple of shirts it would have done it a lot quicker. Even in a regular dryer jeans can be time consuming. Once you're fully set up on your property you'll probably wind up having a regular conventional washer and dryer anyway. But it is great for RV purposes or traveling as you have demonstrated.

    New Carhart's and jeans... I am impressed at that time!! Regu-lar teeshirts and underroo's... I imagine that 15 minutes is achievable!!

    It’s similar to the SPLENDIDE washer/dryer combo. For jeans, fold them in half and put in dryer. They will dry faster and not have all the wrinkles.

    Great review! For myself, since jeans are so thick and heavy, I would only wash one pair maybe with some real light things, or wash one pair and dry, and then another; it might have cut down the drying time considerably. It would probably dry socks and several underwear, maybe even a couple to t-shirts a lot quicker. Again, very informative, THANKS!

    Those washers like Kevin has are way less than $100 on amazon you just need to look further than the first page! also you can get a fully automatic one that you don't have to handle so much for about $200 and it is awesome i use one in my regular home!

    Even a full size house dryer isn't going to dry denim in 15 mins. They take about an hour as well. This dryer would work for small loads. Probably better to just hang dry heavy denim items.

    I probably would have dried the carhartt pants alone so there would be more air flow around and through them. . In my experience using laundro mats, jeans always take longer to dry. Carhartts are like jeans on steroids.

    Should have used the Spin cycle a few times before putting in dryer. Also, only 1 pair at a time in dryer they won’t wrinkle as much.
