These videos you make are things of beauty, from the editing style to the storytelling and perfectly matched music choices. They give me nostalgia and remind me of watching old fishing shows and "The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends" in the early '90s as a child. Thank you!
A beacon of Rest and Peace in a restless world', I like that a lot. Yes, the rod is incredible, but I never want it to become taken for granted, that's why she only comes out on occasion. Cheers!!
More excellence. Thank you. Reminded me of my brother. We both acquired B&W Mk1V G Compound rods. He didn't like the long handle, said it got in the way....So he cut a few inches of the top corks away....I pointed out all he had to do was move the reel down and it would be fine. I think it was designed with a long handle to aid long distance casting. He ruined a top rod.
Cheers Wayne buddy. Yeah it's a beautiful rod, coming out on special trips with me. Been off my carp fishing for a while but nothing better than being welcomed back with a few nice fish on the old cane 😎👍
Ahh Stu these are the type of videos i love from you bringing back memories of bygone years ( happy years ). I couldn't think of anyone in this modern era more appropriate to help design a split cane fishing rod than you. Stu every time i watch you i could write a book as a comment but alas i dont have the time ( even being retired) so i will leave it here. Until next time take care and stay safe my friend
Wow TV quality Documentary style carp fishing at its best with split cane rod and Mitchell reel, and the action on that beautiful rod was clear to see, outstanding video, superb editing, nice music, and great voice over commentary, has it all really 👍
Lovely vid mate, I had a split cane swing tip as a kid my uncle gave me, started my love of feeder fishing, sadly long gone now both rod and uncle, also remember tythe bottom as overgrown pond used to give it a hour when walking back to car
Fantastic video , not taken a Portsmouth ticket this year but recognise the swims and had a couple from near the island myself.. I picked a no name cane rod up from Titchfield car boot at the weekend for a tenner so going to dig out a Mitchell and give it a go soon - was that a Mitchell you used ?
I have a few rods now and several Mitchell's , gonking on the wally is a great way to use the light ones and I have tried my bigger ones near Sainsbury at Broadcut over the wall after watching you a few years ago but no luck in that particular spot
Haven’t seen that rod for a while , I think the first time I saw it was about 6 or 7 yrs ago in one of your videos. It cost me a small fortune after I saw Andrew’s workmanship. My whopper stopper’s will be going with me to Redmire on the 5th of July

Stu what a lovely story. This rod must be a pure gem. This video is a beacon of rest and peace in a restless world.

Lovely film Stu and it was nice to be refreshed of the rods history, how time flies.
Doesn't it just mate. How long ago did we build out the forum? 🤔
It went live in August 2011.

Hey Sean. Welcome to the cane brigade. Yes indeed, an old Mitchell 300. Just feels right using the combination 😎👍

I only want one , I’ve never put so much thought into fishing a venue. My dream a carp ,a gonk and an eel
Aha, the elusive Redmire trio. Managed it twice. Good luck my friend 🤞🏻

Wonderful film..
Your rod should be propped up by BBs tree ,and fished in the priesthole..!
Certainly on my list of things to do, to revisit. Someday 😎👍
Got a very old cane rod it doesnt have a makers name just a single number 7 as its 7 foot long very heavy rod
Sound interesting, you should use it. 👍
