Ive got the 10ft 2-piece cat versions and they're lovely stiff rods for punching out livebaits on heavy leads, i bought the 6ft 2-piece 3lber as a matchy matchy carp rod for a bit of margin fishing when the catting slows and its seen more use than my fox 12ft carp rods as its such a handy little rod. 👍👍

I have a trio of the shimano TX lites. Love em. I packed them up tight with medium baitrunners and I dont need anything else ever again.

I just picked up a set of their 6 foot 3lb stalker rods and tested them out over the weekend. Absolutely smashing little rods and plan to use them for some time

Rods look mega! Bit of advice with them jag bobbins mate. The line running through the rubber could damage/cut your line when you get a run. Better off shortening the chain so it comes off.

I own a pair of NGT travel rods 4pc 9ft 50 gram first edition for some years now and they are nice rods. Not just for the money.
I use these shorter rods because of overhanging trees, but still having to cast and/or traveling in a small car - sometimes packed, including wife and kids.
These rods can easely cast a 2.5-3oz / 70-85gr. in a relaxed manner, because they are not intended for long distance fishing, ..unless you're dropping the lead by (...)boat.
I find them a bit stiff for a 50 gram rod. Then again I used them mostly in hook and hold fishing situations (give a little, take some more) on short distance canal carp fishing and caught over 13kg./29 pound carp on them, and I'm sure bigger carp wouldn't be a problem.
Personally I like the 7000 model Fox bait runners I own on these rods. There's 0.30mm. line on them, but for the heavy drilling I spooled more than enough meters 0.40mm. nylon "leader" on these reels. This kind of reel size still feels balanced on these shorter travel rods. But sure, a (NGT) 4000 model reel would do aswell.
..Then, last march I had an issue. I had some hook pulls/bends which over decades I never had with the size 6 Hayabusa H1 hooks I also often use with other type of rods upto 2,5lb. And those 2,5lb. rods I really love and are my actual favourites to use in hook and hold situations if there's room on the bank for 12ft. rods! But still on those hooks: in non hook and hold situations and relaxed drilling fish I actually even use those size 6 hooks with somewhat stiffer but still progressive bending 10ft. 3lb. rods without any problem in the past.
    So I had my thoughts...
    A) My 2,5lb., 12ft long rods can bend more in a progressive way all through the whole lenght of the rod.
    B) ..On the other hand, I didn't have this issue before with the shorter, bit stiffer NGT travel rods in combination with these size 6 hooks fishing the same swims!
    B) For safety I used a helicopter set up for the first time this march, instead of a semi run rig with an 85gr. inline lead as I prefer. Only then the problems began.
My solution: After these hook pulls/bends I shortly changed to a size 4 hook, but then changed the whole set up back to an inline semi running rig, a size 6 hook (fish still moved slow because of the cold water temperature, so in my opinion size 4 was to obvious to notice) and all was fine again still using these NGT travel rods...
So I guess (?) it somehow was the combination with the heli rig set up and the lead dangling from another angle towards the hook. But still strange, none the less.
Concluding: Going by plain or on family travel by car (without roof box or trailer) I would defenitly recommend these compact rods. I think they would do for pike fishing with somewhat bigger lures aswell. If you look for, or expect a realy flexible rod just to catch mostly small carp, you're better off buying the even cheaper NGT Carp stalker 8ft. 2.00lb rods, which I own a pair of aswell for some years and caught lovely carp on up to 15lb.
    Good fun rods.

Does the 9ft have an actual test curve ???
Im thinking of it for hit and hold on a weedy/snaggy backbrook for chub and barbel and there is one or two carp in it as well 🤔🤔🤔

    • @zoltanszoke2676
      @zoltanszoke2676 8 місяців тому +1

No, that's bs. The airlines wont allow it, or maybe you can put them in crossways, risking breaking it - I would NOT recommend it. It's a huge no go. 9-10 feeters are still a maybe. Im a frequent traveller, I often have to use 5-6pc exotic or custom rods not quite suited for the job with me.
The holy travellers grail rod is yet to be seen, but 9fter Shimano TXs and this NGT 9er might be close enough.

Au contraire, SOME of their stuff is not bad at all. The 3 rod dual line pod for one is cracking. The bank sticks are pretty good and I like the heft. Horses for courses and also depends what you buy!

@@gregsmith7821 bought a small reel for surface fishing with 2 spools. Took the spool off and couldn't get it on again, something had snapped and it just wouldn't go back on. Totally ruined my wkd away as all the carp were on the top.
Oh yeah what ever you do don't buy the scales, lasted a week 😂
Just save some money and buy better it's worth it in the end 👍
      Shockingly shit tackle
