its been a while since this creature scintillated me with her divine voice ..for years, i could not get enough of her...she is a precious jewel and so are you for bringing her to us all....love Floor but to us old fans coming back in large numbers, no one can replace Tarja

only Tarja can make me weep like a newborn...still mad as heck at Tuomas for betraying her....i can still see tears in her eyes as she was so upset upon being questioned that she only spoke in her native tongue..being hurt and saying that she never really knew them...love you Tarja!!! and of course you Matsu..you're the best
Tarja-induced euphoria... i was desperately in love with her back then, never even meeting her...i can only imagine how Tuomas felt being so close to her for so many years....can't thank you enough for channeling the great one to us mere mortals

saw her taking pictures , endlessly with armies of fans, clearly showing signs of being very physically and emotionally drained, but staying until everyone was served..always smiling and full of warmth...

oh Matsu..your timing is perfect..i lost my Mom a year ago today, and of all of Tarja's astounding performances this was her absolute favorite.. its as though my Mom is talking to me from beyond...love you Mom, Matsu, and of course the great Tarja!!
all this splendor with just the sheer beauty, power and grace of her voice at a tender age of 23....you should hear her voice today..its beyond perfection...Thank you Matsu, you are the best
This maybe the most difficult performance Tarja ever did… one of the most operatic and since she wrote the vocals to her own style and training it’s very difficult to cover… I think Tuomas tried on a few occasions and eventually made it an instrumental for Troy, it’s a tear jerker when Tarja sings it too… and that ending wow!!!

I'm divided on that. Because I do love this performance of this song the best (that I have heard). You can both see and hear how emotional it was for her, and the softness in her voices is good for this song.
However, she was nowhere near to her best in 2000. Her vocals have vastly improved since.
And again, I do like the style she sang in Oceanborn and Wishmaster era. Sure she does it later too but not so much.
So, divided.
An angel's voice
This is a majestic performance. I love Floor very much (maybe even too much 😵), but I must admit that she can't reach the most darker operatic tones where Tarja can at her best. And it was the very essence of Nightwishs rise on the early years on their journey. But now there are different times and they are doing very well. But hey, they've been with us over two decades! Sorry about my bad English there. 😩

I like the atmosphere of this concert, and this song just oozes warmth and emotions, and you can see it on her face too.
Sure, she was still a diamond in the rough, har vocals have been improving almost 20 years now since this video, her operatic vocals especially are in another higher level. But this song doesn't need so amazing and clear vocals Tarja now has, this is just perfect a bit softer, like this. Although I might be a bit nostalgic and used to this performance, too.

She is a conduit thru which nature speaks to us...Thank you, dear one for the great gift of Tarja Turunen...never fails to scintillate all my senses..and even in this melancholly song she so lifts my spirits for a full week...astounding...and just think she was only 23 at the time of this recording...love you and love the master soprano herself...thank you again...
This whole concert is one of the most important ones by NW and also awesome.

Well, it wasn't actually 'featuring' Tarja. She was the regular 1st singer, one of the founders of the band with Tuomas and Emppu.

@@MatsuPatty ...she is otherworldly, indeed...do not know how familiar you are with history of NW but the sinister way they fired her in 2005 with full intent to defame her character, was atrocious...i can still see tears streaming down that angelic face as the hoards of media hounded her with questions (she occupied an Elvis like status in Finland, at the time)
Thank you so much for finding the great Finnish Soprano Tarja Turunen and playing this awesome song. This song sends me off the Earth. Her voice is from Saturn. It was with heavy heart that, the day after the Hartwall Areena concert in 2006, I had to read THE LETTER telling Tarja that the members of Nightwish had voted her out of the band. I did not think Tuomas would ever find a singer of her caliber, and he almost did not. Anette was really just a stand-in. While she was(and still is)an excellent rock/pop singer, her voice was not suited for Symphonic Metal.
And now we have Floor Jansen, Valkyrie Goddess of the Symphonic Metal genre. Tuomas knows he was very lucky to be in the highly unusual circumstances that brought Floor to Nightwish(which I will not go through here). Suffice it to say the Nightwish Army has been deliriously happy ever since the Magic Concert(Wacken 2013)when we were introduced to the greatest singer on the planet.
(And BTW Floor and Tarja are the best of friends. They have sung together in Nightwish and at least one of the bands Floor started so there is no animosity between them.) Welcome to the Nightwish Army Miss Patty!
it saddened me too to see a sweet person like Tarja back stabbed by those jackals..ironically, after she put her solo career on hold out of loyalty..once they realized that she was dead serious about her pledge of short tours and feared that their profits might suffer..out she was cast, in the ugliest possible way...but her liberation was the springboard to a brilliant solo career...

Hello. New here. Been following Tarja's career and talk about the midas touch. Every project is a gem. Her talent grows with each passing year. The only thing I could say and I don't think its a negative but her English of course has improved and she can now sing it without the heavy accent of the early days. Again hard work, dedication and perhaps the influence of Adele from Within Temptation who sings like an American. No doubt to one of her parents being an American ex-pat in the Netherlands.
The only thing I say and it almost hurts to say as I have no desire to criticize is that hearing her sing flawless English pronounciation makes me nostalgic for the old days. Since I have grown to love her unique voice.
Yes even if that were a criticism, the only point is she may be too good? Too talented? As if that is a thing?? I really am torn and unsure.
No doubt the woman still impresses me to no end with her talent. Finding such an amazing star and less than a year younger than myself was such a treat. I can in her outlanders visualizers still see the profile of the younger artist and still see the light in her smile. What a wonderful thing when someone so kind and awesome has such success in her life.

prime example why Tuomas believed that Tarja is not subject to duplication or replacement...so upon dismissing her, decided to scrap the marvelous classical/operatic vocal model for a less ambitious one and hired Annete
I don't think they were less ambitious. Yeah, Tuomas wanted to compose different kind of music. But then they used a big effort and time to find a singer who would be good with those songs. Listened over 2000 female singers, the best who they invited in Finland for audition. They invited Anette several times, toured concerts with her (listening, not performing) before they decided to hire her. And as NW makes decisions by voting, Tuomas told that everyone voted for Anette. And later when Floor was already a band member, Tuomas said he and the band thinks there isn't anyone who could have sung Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum better.
Yeah they had a bunch of problems with touring. And a great deal of it obviously because they exhausted Anette as they did Tarja, and didn't include her into the band... both of them felt outsiders. Like Anette said, she never wasso ill in her life, as she was continuously touring with Nightwish, and having vocal problems. And she also got indebted in her first years in Nightwish, because she didn't get any income from Tarja's era stuff.
