PLS REACT TO A BRAZILIAN SINGER OF METAL VOICE DAN VASC IN BRING ME TO LIFE, POKER FACE, IRON MAIDEN NEW COVER, AMAZING GRACE, HE SINGS FROM OPERA TO HARD, POWER METAL TKSSSS
it's really too bad when reactors feel the need to cause discord within the NW YT fan base with tittles like yours, Is Tarja the best" ? seems like an amateurish thing to ask, common sense say's this is not ok to do with singers from the same band but especially not ok with Nightwish given it's history
Marko. Best. Phantom. Ever. The voice of the Phantom should not be the sweet sappy versions that the tenors always sing on Broadway. He captures the real character of the story in his voice. Dark, brooding, edgy, sinister. So good.
There can be no doubt, Marko is the best phantom there ever was or will be! in my humble opinion! People can debate floor vs Tarja all day long, but marko is the king!
Tarja is a trained opera singer and performed opera before she joined Nightwish and continued to do so on and off during and after her tenure with them.
The "best" is always in the eye of the beholder or in this case the ear of the listener but I do love Tarja very very much ❣and I'm so glad you enjoyed her, too!! Thank you for the reaction! :)
When Andrew Llyod Weber himself said THIS is his favorite version you know it is the best!!! The contrast between Marko and Tarja is unmatched and magical 💞
Marco is the perfect Phantom ... with the adding/subtracting growl ... because the Phantom NEEDS to be threatening. He is the reason why this performance is special.
I first discovered Nightwish with Floor as lead vocalist. It was this performance that really made me take notice of Tarja, simply mindblowing! I feel so fortunate to enjoy the entire Nightwish catalogue throughout the years. No other band has captured me this way.
It's worth remembering how that band became famous. Especially from the combination of an opera singer and (just Tarja) heavy music. The current sound of the band is very light compared to the original.
Same 2005 concert in Helsinki as the Ghost Love Score video you did with Tarja (End of an Era DVD). Her last Nightwish concert. My favorite version of this song, because of Marko. A number of reactors have done this song to check out Tarja for the first time, and get blown away by Marko. Andrew Lloyd Weber has seen this version, and he loved it. Song #5 in an 18 song set. Recommend the next one called "The Siren", more Tarja and Marko singing together. Also here, Marko sings lead on the cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes.
@@bobcieslinski You should also check out more early Nightwish from around the 2003 era like the Wishes to Eternity DVD or the Mera luna concert. One interesting song is Pharoah Sails to Orion. In it Tapio Wilska sings the male vocals.
She began studying music, with a specialization in church music, at the Sibelius Academy (Finland), after what she studied at the music academy Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe (Germany), where she trained as a soloist with further specialization in art songs (Lied). So yes, she is classical trained…
Hi Bob, so glad you did another song from this era, you still managed to crack me up with your stunned expressions, loved it I hope you do more from this era, I think you would like Wishmaster from the same concert. Great reaction, thanks for uploading.
Around 9 min you say that nightwish introduced a lot of young ppl to Broadway. Tbh a lot of metal and rock ppl ❤ the more classical music, there was a lot of flair for the dramatics in gothic rock back then . I listened to nightwish when i was young, i saw this tour live with my gf back then. But it started for us with queen and meatloaf, thx to my mom her mysic taste.
Hey, Bob, Recently I saw your reaction to "Ghost Love Score," where you were surprised, awed, and flabbergasted to find a symphonic metal band with an actual opera singer. While watching your fun reaction I couldn't help thinking, "oh, man, if only he could see the Phantom video with Tarja, it would blow his mind." Talk about symphonic metal and opera - it don't get much better than this. Anyway, you reacted here as I imagined you would. Fun stuff! :)
This performance was my introduction to Nightwish. The second song I heard was Ghost Love Score, with Floor Jansen. I was hooked and fell down the rabbit hole. That was 3yrs ago. Saw them in NYC in May of 2022. Just amazing LIVE.
@@bobcieslinski It's just that after Tarja's unceremonious firing the band never played the song again. Until Floor did it with Henk Poort. Marko though, refused to sing the song with anyone but Tarja.
I also heard that Marko refused to sing this song with nobody else than Tarja. And I saw Tarja in a new intervju that she and Marko they are going on a tour in South America next year( that I new) but they had some crazy things going on hoppfullt in Europe and Scandinavia. Marko and Tarja found each other again 2017 . They talked about past, forgivness and cried a bit. So when you see them on stage together today, I was lucky to see them in Olavinlinna Finland last August and it was emotionally, you could see how much they respect, love each other.
Great reaction - just a couple of things: the first Broadway production of Phantom was in 1988 whereas the original (English) production was in 1986; "Jukka" (drummer) is pronounced "Yukka" and "Tarja" is "Tar-ya" (with a rolled "R"); and I think you would be better served asking "which version do YOU PREFER" rather than "Who is best". Having said that, really glad you enjoyed that.
@@markschattefor6997 I don't know - I haven't seen it. I was just making the point that the Broadway production wasn't the original: Her Majesty's Theatre, London, 1986.
@@nightwishlover8913 I love Nightwish as well, and I mis the contact with the woman from Titusville who started the NW army, I'm out of beer a little drunk and alone, have a nice evening.
Also fun fact this version is Mr Webers favorite version, he said so. Even going as far to say this is what it should’ve been. At least along those lines .he publicly said that. Something like this is what he envisioned it as. And what he’d want, if he could, then.
He is acceptable. But Tarja's technique still remains unmatched. And Marko and Tarja both compliment each other perfectly. It's sad to know the two best vocalists and a bassist in Nightwish history are no longer with them.
After some contemplation, as far as a next for me, I think I go with So Hyang Bridge Over Troubled Water, it's one of the more emotionally touching songs. Link is: ua-cam.com/video/C6iHh4yBxCo/v-deo.html Evidently she has mentioned many times that she wants her performances to bring a form of comfort to the audience, so what better song? I also heard she is an author from years back doing fictional stories, but her singing is just pure bliss.
Thank you! If I remember correctly, your first reaction to Nightwish was with Tarja, Ghost Love Score from the end of an era? I would love for you to not use the term as "who is the best". It's just what people prefer. And those terms do kinda feed the toxic side of the fan base which we do not need. Anyways, this is an amazing version of the legendary song🤩 Tarja's voice is so beautiful and powerful. Marko's voice is also really powerful, and he makes the Phantom insane😄 And their voices together🫠 This was in 2005, but they first recorded this song for their 2002 album, Century Child. It's quite different version and I personally prefer this live version. Also, I'm not sure if you know, but after Tarja got fired from Nightwish she made her own, quite successful, solo career. She has done 5 rock albums, she just released her 2nd Dark Christmas album and she has done classical projects and lots of other stuff as well. So I wouldn’t mind if you checked out some of her solo work. Good songs are Victim of Ritual (live from Woodstock 2016), Innocence (live from Circus Life 2020) and Love to Hate (live from Metropolis studios, London 2016).
Thanks and you are right she was the first. I love her voice and I love the Floor songs I’ve done. I think they are both amazing and Nightwish is so lucky to have had both of them. I sure didn’t mean for anything toxic. It seems like people want to know so I tried something new in the thumbnail. People who watch the whole thing will hear that I think highly of both artists.
@bobcieslinski I know you didn’t mean anything harmful putting that there😊 I watched the video, so I know. That was just a warning that the comments might get toxic. Of course you can do what you want 😊 And I love both of them too!
Not an opera background. Fully trained classical singer; specializing as a soloist. German lied and art songs I believe. Her "Ave Maria - En Plein Air" (2015) album is in the classical genre.
Unlike Floor, Tarja is a full-blown opera singer who could sing to arena of 2000-3000 people without amplification. One the other hand, she does not do that much other styles. When Marko joined the band Tuomas commented he now had two best singers in FInland in the band, and while you can debate bestness no end, it was not a baseless claim. This was the very last show with Tarja in the band, and the very last show when everyone on stage was Finnish. And they delivered. Whatever you can say about Tarja, her ability to sing never held the band back, and this particular song really benefits from her opera background. And Marko is IMO the most menacing phantom ever. Phantom is not a nice guy, and staying within musical theather styles does not allow you to fully express depths of his darkness. It's no wonder Lloyd Webber himself has praised this version.
TARJA IS AMAZING THE TRUE QUEEN OF SYMPHONY ROCK...THE REFERENCE FOR FLOOR AND FOR SIMONE AND ALL THE OTHER FEMALE ROCK SINGERS THAT CAME AFTER...TARJA IS A BRAND A REFERENCE THAT INSPIRED SO MANY GIRLS TO WANT TO BE ROCK SINGERS ...THE UNDISCUTABLE QUEEN!!!
Enjoyed your reaction. 🤘😎🤘 I've been a Nightwish fan since 1996 and have seen them live 6 times. In my fan opinion, Floor has the powerhouse vocals and such an amazing vocal versatility. But, when it comes to opera, Tarja is the powerhouse Floor cannot match.
I have watched another reacter watch this and he mentioned that he had played in bands for this show on broadway. He pointed out that this song is "tracked"; not sung live. And he was blown away that Tarja sings this live every time!!
Liked your reaction! 😊 This is the best rendition of the song Phantom of the Opera. Tarja and Marko compliment each other perfectly. The whole concert had this larger than life aura goin on. After Tarja had quit, I didn't listen to Nightwish anymore. Only ever so rarely and occasionally, if some of the older songs were sung by Anette and Floor. Both are talented in their own right. They just don't appeal to me. You should react to some of the other songs from the End Of An Era tour, if you'd like. I request The Siren, Sleeping Sun, Nemo and Ghost Love Score. All of those except the latter are heavily considered as Tarja's songs.
It's MARCO that makes this so special. Tarjia sounds amazing but it's a classic interpretation of Christine. Marco finally makes the Phantom what he is; sinister, scary, threatening.
Don't downplay Tarja like that, she didn't "just sing it" in an operatic style, even for high operatic spheres her performance was of the highest standards. Marco definitely added to it but give credit where it's due
I've enjoyed all of Nightwish's singers tbh, each brought something unique to the band. One of my all time favorite band's singer did a pretty amazing cover of Nightwish's Ghost Love Score. I think he truly embodied both Tarja and Floor. Check out Yannis Papadopoulos of Beast in Black.
It seems she has had classical vocal training. I agree that her enunciation is reminiscent of opera, although it could also be some of her European pronunciation of English. I read she had a stroke at one time, but thankfully seems to be fully recovered. I never listened to Phantom of the Opera (unfortunately perhaps, but opera ranks close to rap in my listening category), but this was interesting, and obviously well done. Tarja's voice is almost too strong as she easily could have overpowered his in the duet section. It was obvious the crowd was very familiar with the song as well!
Great observations Guy! Her voice is more powerful than Marcos in thr operatic voice. I love Marcos voice though. I was never a rap or opera guy. I can listen to some rap now and opera is fine. I learned to appreciate opera while in college. My one professor asked to to take his opera course and he would give me an A as long as I came to class and did the writing assignments. So I did and he was smart he knew I would like it. We watched Carmen and Aida along with some others. The story was amazing and the talen was off the charts. It was too much subtitle reading for me but I did enjoy it. Elton John redid Aida into a musical and I saw it and it was incredible. I’m sure you can look up that soundtrack. It’s great stuff.
@@bobcieslinski Interesting. I was an English major and a Shakespeare class was required. I went in thinking an entire semester was going to be ruined having to listen to that old boring crap. Turned out the teacher was one of those individuals that loved what he taught, and it quickly became a class I looked forward to. So I kind of get what you mean. But there are quite a few musical styles I just try to avoid. Old classic banjo on the knee country music, New Orleans jazz (just sounds like everyone is playing their own lead, lol), a lot of gospel, but yet I've become very appreciative of classical (especially baroque) music, what is usually called smooth jazz, and more modern country music, all of which I used to "push the radio button" when they came on, lol. I read a very long explanation regarding "good and bad" rap which I entirely agreed with, so I'm a bit more satisfied with some of it now.
That's pretty cool that you were an English major. I think as we get older and wiser we become alittle more open minded about things especially our musical tastes.
With Nightwish, its easy. You want raw emotion with epic music, go for Tarja vocals, if you prefer belts go for Floor and if you prefer a mainstream vocals, go for Anette
Not just that which you said it was her last performance with nightwish on the night of that very show I love Tarja, I like Annette, and I appreciate Floor
Hi Bob, hope you are well. “Oh we are going back!” Love that. 😊 I’ve seen The Phantom live several times and even got to play in the pit orchestra for a scaled down production. This is my favourite version of the song and it’s largely due to Marko. His power and range is on full display here. And of course Tarja, Tuomas, Emppu and Jukka killed it as well. Tarja is a trained opera singer. She trained at the Sibelius Acadamy. A side note, Sibelius is one of my favourite composers and is a big influence on me when it comes to orchestration. Just a piece of pronunciation help if you don’t mind. In Nordic languages the ‘j’ is generally pronounced as a ‘y’ so Tarja is Tar-ya and Jukka is Yukka. This is a huge generalization but young people in Europe are more well rounded in music genres than North Americans. You can see at the beginning those 2 young ladies singing along. This concert is the one where they let Tarja go after the concert and the famous letters.
If I'm not mistaken... the reason this was made was because, either, one or all the members saw the musical and agreed that the phantom wasn't sinister enough.
More Tarja, do check Tarja - Unforgiven, metal church. Not many have reacted to that, so a oopirtinity. Its quite new also, so can see what Tarja has become in about few decades. I guarantee, it wont disapoint. 😸🇫🇮
It's easy to fall into the "which singer is better" trap, but I just appreciate each of the singers for what they are. I like Tarja, Anette, and Floor and of course Marko. Just a couple corrections here. Tarja has made it clear that she has never had operatic training and refers to herself as a classical singer. Since "Phantom of the Opera" is musical theater and not opera, she's suited to it perfectly. Also, since Tarja and Jukka are Finnish, the J in their name is pronounced like a Y. Tarya would be "tar - yuh" and Jukka would be "you - kuh."
@@bobcieslinski it's really too bad when reactors feel the need to cause discord within the NW YT fan base whether intentional or not with tittles like yours, common sense say's this is not ok to do with singers from the same band but especially not ok with Nightwish given it's history
@@nicod1361 Band Teacher Reacts to Phantom of the Opera by Nightwish(Tarja)? This is the title. If you are talking about the extra part I put in the thumbnail then I was asking a question. I loved both of these ladies.
The only thing I wish they did different is give Emppu a solo in the body of the song or longer at the end. . His flourish at the end is so awesome and too short!
Thanks. Loved it. Phantom of the Opera has always had a special place in my heart. Please do a reaction to Kang Hyung Ho( Pitta)'s version of Phantom of the Opera.
I truly appreciate the love you show for tarja, Marco and the era that is Nightwish with her in vocals. To me , this is my favorite Nightwish. The energy, the tone and over all sound from Oceanborn and Wishmaster albums is absolutely amazing, epic and what I can only describe as fucking mental fantasy. If I may suggest, please give Gethesmane and Crownless a try. Both songs are so what I consider Nightwish gems that are a must to see what they are truly about. (Studio versions)
How many times was it described as a "Broadway Musical"? Even once referring to it as the "Original Boadway..." I mean, WHAT? Yeah right. Another American re-writing of history. Now how about we go back and do a "find & replace" and delete Broadway, and enter "West End" referring to London's theatre district, where Phantom premiered long before the show came to the USA, having been written by a very English Andrew Lloyd-Webber?
She studied music at the Sibelius Academy (Finland) and then University of Music Karlsruhe (Germany) where she caught the attention of Professor Mitsuko Shirai.
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!😀👍👍🤘
Tarja can't be beaten singing with Nightwish but unfortunately the band fired her after this gig by letter because of different priorities she was doing some solo stuff. Even Andrew Lloyd Webber has said this is his favourite version not in the musical theatre phantom of the opera. I think I'm right in saying Nightwish didn't perform this song again until Floor joined the band many years later.
This is by far the best version of this song, and it's not because of Tarja. She is awesome, and unlike Broadway actresses, she actually sings this live. but Marko is what makes this the best .
Hey there, mate! Tarja and NightWish huge, long-time fan/addict here! lol. I just came across your channel and I'm thoroughly enjoying your NW reactions, eager for more! 🤘lol You've got a new subscriber right here and lots of thumbs up! Thank you for this reaction btw, Ioved it! Theirs is the ultimate version of The Phantom of the Opera imo, and this whole 'End of an Era' concert is pure gold, it happened in 2005 and was the very last time Tarja and NW performed together before their dramatic breakup. Plus a curious fact: she was very sick with a severe throat infection during this iconic End of an Era concert. She didn't even know if she'd be able to sing that night, yet she did it marvellously! So if this is not the best she can do, just you imagine how damn incredible she is at her best!😍Remember this everytime you react again to a song from this concert, which I hope you do lol.Well, I'm guessing you're already familiar with some of their history and lore, so I'll mostly skip that part and focus on the Music About Tarja's vocal studies background, she's indeed a classically trained soprano, she graduated with honors in major European music institutions, so we can always hear the "operatic" influence in her music and her voice even when she mixes her classical singing technique with other more "contemporary" styles and her strong chest voice (which you notice more in her solo career btw), although she's not quite an opera singer as she said herself (her specialty falls more into the field of chamber and sacred repertoire when it comes to classical music, though I can't help thinking that, had she become a full-time opera singer, she'd definitely be a superb, rare one with that powerful, dark, rich, dramatic, full tone in her voice, probably singing/playing roles of a 'spinto soprano', for she has several features of that voice type I think). She's an incredibly talented musician, a truly unique artist, master of her crafts! Well, I love Tarja, I love NW with Tarja, and I simply love NW in all lineups, with all 3 lead vocalists they had (Tarja was the first from 1996 to 2005 and co-founder of the band; then Anette Olzon from 2007 to 2012; and now Floor Jansen since 2013), for they're such an epic, extraordinary, legendary band, as you surely know. Anyway, I'm really glad to see so many people on YT reacting to them and thus coming to know their music this way!🤘🖤 I mean, you witnessed it, through their Music they've created such magnificent otherworldly realm!!! Pure magic, regardless of who's the singer they're working with! So please continue in the path of this fantanstic musical journey, from all their eras, you can't go wrong with them. Just to be clear, I enjoy NW's music from all eras because they're an incredible band no matter what, and although I'm a huge Tarja fan (or Tarjaholic, as some would call us lol, and think she's very unique and brought NW to a whole new level combining her stunning dark, absolutely beautiful and powerful operatic vocals with Tuomas' genius), I love, respect, support and appreciate all their singers as the equally great, amazingly talented musicians they are in their own different ways and rights - that's a fact only the blind don't see, all else is just a matter of personal taste and preference imo. Each of them brought special, individual elements to the band that helped them grow, mature and develop their artistic identity. As a fan, I strongly believe we are blessed to have witnessed 3 amazing talented ladies fronting NW and should just enjoy the gift the whole band (all members, past and present) deliver us with their timeless Art, and I think we should feel grateful and honored for that, regardless of our personal preferences. That said, I hope you're taking suggestions from the comment sections for I have plenty lol. So if that's alright I'd like to drop down here my recommendations from NW in Tarja's era, since from what I've seen you reacted more often to NW with the amazing Floor, and I'm more of an "old school Nightwisher" (although I absolutely LOVE them in all eras!💘), moreover I don't want to make this comment any longer than it will already be lol. Afterwards I'll be also suggesting songs from Tarja's long, stunning solo career, her work is different from anything you've seen and deserves more attention, it's creative and overall mindblowing, plus 'tis inspiring how she's constantly growing and improving herself as an artist and a person, and only in her solo career you truly get to know her artistry! I hope you're willing to take this fantastic musical journey made possible by these phenomenal artists, it's so worth it! So, without further ado, back to NW in Tarja's era (I tried to make a selection as short as I could, really difficult to choose from their vast, outstanding repertoire lol, but there's so much more to explore as you go): 1. ua-cam.com/video/LAoUWU4Opto/v-deo.html . "Bless the Child", live at Raumanmeri in 2003, song from the 2002 album "Century Child". Another brilliant song and performance! If you wish, there's also the official video for this song, quite beautiful and breathtaking. 2. ua-cam.com/video/LUy8T_3kieI/v-deo.html . "The Siren", another iconic "must listen" masterpiece, also from End of an Era DVD. Tarja becomes The Siren here, so mesmerizing! Here you get to hear different layers of her singing she rarely used while with NW, apart from ramarkable dark operatic vocals: she uses a soft, drawing, mystic almost ethereal voice, and also a sort of arabic/gypsy chanting style! Really beautiful, mystical and enthralling imo! 3. ua-cam.com/video/lZgkxgkH6I8/v-deo.html . "Planet Hell", also from "End of an Era" dvd (song originally from "Once" as well). Heavy! Tarja & Marko!😍 They rock so freaking amazing together!🤘 4. ua-cam.com/video/VSMCD39EIMc/v-deo.html . "Kuolema tekee taiteilijan", also from "End of an Era" dvd (and originally from "Once" as well). I put this ballad because it's simply beautiful and so very touching (plus, it's in finnish, their native language, and I love it!) The translation of the title is something like "Death makes an artist" 5. ua-cam.com/video/tFSqaLKXzwY/v-deo.html . "Slaying the Dreamer", live from End of an Era DVD. Heavy, bombastic, mindblowing, phenomenal!! She puts a bit of "belting" effect in her voice here, plus she and all of them headbanging so hard gets me excited and headbaging along 🤘 And Marko is wild! 6. ua-cam.com/video/JYVl6MOZXIs/v-deo.html . This is "Swanheart", live performance from 2001 dvd "From wishes to Eternity". The song is originally from their album "Oceanborn". This is gold, one of their most beautiful ballads ever! If you wish there's also this 2013 version from Tarja's solo career: ua-cam.com/video/TvFVdET3ng4/v-deo.html in which she performs with an orchestra and choir, beautiful arrangement and her vocals are so thrilling and ofc more mature! 7. ua-cam.com/video/J7N8MekeH20/v-deo.html . "Wishmaster", also live from "End of an Era". Great performance of another iconic song! 8. ua-cam.com/video/E_RRMRXJWxI/v-deo.html . "Sleeping Sun", live from End of an Era. Such an Iconic ballad, truly beautiful, astounding! 9. ua-cam.com/video/0QtdQQne2Ts/v-deo.html . "Passion and the Opera", this one is actually performed in Tarja's solo career, 'twas in 2007 (therefore after the breakup). I don't think they ever performed this song live together, neither did the other singers as far as I know. Anyway it's sooo amazing!!! In this song Tuomas seems to make "subtle" musical mentions of Mozart's "Queen of the Night" aria, from his opera "The Magic Flute". Love this and Tarja is gorgeous, showcases much of her vocal skills and powerful energy on stage! To be continued...
@@bobcieslinski I thank you, mate! For your quick reply and kindness ☺️ I definitely will! I'll gladly stick around eager to accompanying you in this fantastic musical journey! Thanks again! See you soon
There is no best or not best lead singer in Nightwish. Im a fan since the 90s and in my humble opinion Nightwish is bigger than who happens to be singing for the moment. Time have showed that everyone is expendeble exept Tuomas. Tuomas is Nightwish and the other is HIS band. Along with new members the band evolves and get new sounds and goes in new directions but Tuomas is holding the helm and without him no Nightwish.
Finally I am getting to Tarja's version of this amazing song. What did you like best about her version?

When Andrew Llyod Weber himself said THIS is his favorite version you know it is the best!!! The contrast between Marko and Tarja is unmatched and magical 💞
Yeah if he is saying that we should go with that.
One would never think that these two voices (Marko's rock and Tarja's opera) would go together, but they complement each other perfectly.
They sure do!
Marco is the perfect Phantom ... with the adding/subtracting growl ... because the Phantom NEEDS to be threatening. He is the reason why this performance is special.
If you knew the original it wouldn’t be a surprise
I first discovered Nightwish with Floor as lead vocalist. It was this performance that really made me take notice of Tarja, simply mindblowing! I feel so fortunate to enjoy the entire Nightwish catalogue throughout the years. No other band has captured me this way.
They are amazing no matter who is singing or playing drums or bass. They just continue to evolve and be epic.
I love this version that Nightwish does. I live for Marko and Tarja singing this together. And I LOVE the bassline in this song during the verses.
Marko killed it. Wow!
I love this version best! Thanks for the reaction, I thoroughly enjoyed it! ✌🏼
Thanks it was great!
It's worth remembering how that band became famous. Especially from the combination of an opera singer and (just Tarja) heavy music. The current sound of the band is very light compared to the original.
No matter thr time period they are amazing and so talented.

Marko blew me away the first time I heard him sing. I had no idea the singing chops he had.
@@bobcieslinskiI second "The Siren", fascinating song, relatively short for a Nightwish song and Marco and Tarja sound amazing! :)
Thanks!
I don’t know why everyone gushes about Tarja and not Marko. He’s the best Phantom ever. No one can match him. ❤
Hi Bob, so glad you did another song from this era, you still managed to crack me up with your stunned expressions, loved it I hope you do more from this era, I think you would like Wishmaster from the same concert. Great reaction, thanks for uploading.
Thanks so much I appreciate it! This was a fantastic song.
Tarja, the symphonic metal goddess
please wach all concert end of an era
Ok thanks for also watching the premiere with me today.
If you like Marko's voice, you MUST check out his cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes".
Try Ghost love score live by Tarja!🇫🇮
Hey, Bob, Recently I saw your reaction to "Ghost Love Score," where you were surprised, awed, and flabbergasted to find a symphonic metal band with an actual opera singer. While watching your fun reaction I couldn't help thinking, "oh, man, if only he could see the Phantom video with Tarja, it would blow his mind." Talk about symphonic metal and opera - it don't get much better than this. Anyway, you reacted here as I imagined you would. Fun stuff! :)
Thanks!
This performance was my introduction to Nightwish. The second song I heard was Ghost Love Score, with Floor Jansen. I was hooked and fell down the rabbit hole. That was 3yrs ago. Saw them in NYC in May of 2022. Just amazing LIVE.
I can understand the hook Randy. They reeled me in too. Such amazing musicians and songs.
Love your reaction and your comments !! You could see you were totally digging it...
Thanks Bruce!
Marko only sings this song with Tarja, and I respect the hell out of him for that.
Man he is a super musician and singer too.
@@bobcieslinski It's just that after Tarja's unceremonious firing the band never played the song again. Until Floor did it with Henk Poort. Marko though, refused to sing the song with anyone but Tarja.
@@Heru3005source?
What language did they use in the Broadway production?
@@markschattefor6997 I don't know - I haven't seen it. I was just making the point that the Broadway production wasn't the original: Her Majesty's Theatre, London, 1986.
@@nightwishlover8913 I love Nightwish as well, and I mis the contact with the woman from Titusville who started the NW army, I'm out of beer a little drunk and alone, have a nice evening.
Nightwish with Tarja created a new genre...Symphonic Metal.
Only 1 word can describe THIS VERSION of Nightwish. LEGENDARY! PERIOD. Music gets no better than this. EVER!!!
It is epic!
I love Tarja ❤
Also fun fact this version is Mr Webers favorite version, he said so. Even going as far to say this is what it should’ve been. At least along those lines .he publicly said that. Something like this is what he envisioned it as. And what he’d want, if he could, then.
Marko (Marco) is a perfectly acceptable answer to the question who is the best singer of Nightwish.
You might be right. He is very underrated for his singing. He shocked me the first time I heard him.
Glad I saw this. I’ll be trying to make some records this week. Thanks Guy! I appreciate all of the support.

Thank you! If I remember correctly, your first reaction to Nightwish was with Tarja, Ghost Love Score from the end of an era?
I would love for you to not use the term as "who is the best".
It's just what people prefer. And those terms do kinda feed the toxic side of the fan base which we do not need.
Anyways, this is an amazing version of the legendary song🤩
Tarja's voice is so beautiful and powerful. Marko's voice is also really powerful, and he makes the Phantom insane😄
And their voices together🫠
This was in 2005, but they first recorded this song for their 2002 album, Century Child.
Of course you can do what you want 😊
And I love both of them too!
Not an opera background. Fully trained classical singer; specializing as a soloist. German lied and art songs I believe. Her "Ave Maria - En Plein Air" (2015) album is in the classical genre.
Loved the reaction! Wesolych Swiat i szczesliwego nowego Roku!!
Good thing my Dad taught me this when I was a kid. I understood what you wrote in Polish. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!
Tarja 👑 she dropped this 👑👑😌
Unlike Floor, Tarja is a full-blown opera singer who could sing to arena of 2000-3000 people without amplification.
Great comments Jari! Thanks!
Them: You gotta listen to Tarja do Phantom.
Me: You gotta listen to Marko do Phantom.
I agree! Man he is sooo good.

Thanks for the info!
Tarja is the best ❤
Marco is the reason I like this version too.
Marco is an amazing singer.
He ruins it lol I prefer a legitimate mesmerizing phantom of music
No one plays a deranged sewer dweller like Marko.
Don't downplay Tarja like that, she didn't "just sing it" in an operatic style, even for high operatic spheres her performance was of the highest standards. Marco definitely added to it but give credit where it's due
Tarja is the real Queen of Phantom Of The Opera
I've enjoyed all of Nightwish's singers tbh, each brought something unique to the band. One of my all time favorite band's singer did a pretty amazing cover of Nightwish's Ghost Love Score. I think he truly embodied both Tarja and Floor. Check out Yannis Papadopoulos of Beast in Black.
I agree they are all awesome. I’ll check it out thanks.
Tarja is symphonic metal, flor is metal
Every time have is time.
10:50 The first version of this song was already in 2002 (Nightwish album - Century Child). Try to compare the huge difference.
Thanks
Loved the video Mr. Chesh-leen-skee.
This was first. Before Anette or Floor. This is Nighwish.
Yes she is. With Marko a very close second.
Of course, Tarja is the best.
Tarja is a trained opera singer.
This is absolutely the best version of this song I’ve ever heard! Great reaction!
Thanks!
Hi Bob, hope you are well.
“Oh we are going back!” Love that. 😊
I’ve seen The Phantom live several times and even got to play in the pit orchestra for a scaled down production.
Thanks Robin! My pronunciations are terrible. I try but I forget. Thanks for thr help! Sibelius was a great one.
If I'm not mistaken... the reason this was made was because, either, one or all the members saw the musical and agreed that the phantom wasn't sinister enough.
I could see that. This was epic.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Greetings from Argentina
this was last set of this nightwish with Tarja
Thanks I appreciate it!
@@bobcieslinski
it's really too bad when reactors feel the need to cause discord within the NW YT fan base whether intentional or not with tittles like yours, common sense say's this is not ok to do with singers from the same band but especially not ok with Nightwish given it's history
Agreed

I think they both have amazing vocals. So talented.
In my view she is the best. But the others are also fabulous.
The band Nightwish was special because they had an opera singer.
They are fantastic!
FLOOR nd Henk
Give Annette's Meadows of Heaven a listen her vocals are more pop rock
"Tarja's voice is built for opera" "she may have a classical background".... And a quick internet search will confirm that and more.
She studied music at the Sibelius Academy (Finland) and then University of Music Karlsruhe (Germany) where she caught the attention of Professor Mitsuko Shirai.
Thanks for the comments!

Yes, She Is.-
Tarja can't be beaten singing with Nightwish but unfortunately the band fired her after this gig by letter because of different priorities she was doing some solo stuff.
Even Andrew Lloyd Webber has said this is his favourite version not in the musical theatre phantom of the opera.
I think I'm right in saying Nightwish didn't perform this song again until Floor joined the band many years later.
Thanks for the info! She is an amazing singer.
Check out a song called cnv sound vol14 the guy has crazy range
This is by far the best version of this song, and it's not because of Tarja. She is awesome, and unlike Broadway actresses, she actually sings this live. but Marko is what makes this the best .
Marco really shocked me the first time I heard him sing. He is amazing! Thanks James!
So if this is not the best she can do, just you imagine how damn incredible she is at her best!😍Remember this everytime you react again to a song from this concert, which I hope you do lol.Well, I'm guessing you're already familiar with some of their history and lore, so I'll mostly skip that part and focus on the Music
About Tarja's vocal studies background, she's indeed a classically trained soprano, she graduated with honors in major European music institutions, so we can always hear the "operatic" influence in her music and her voice even when she mixes her classical singing technique with other more "contemporary" styles and her strong chest voice (which you notice more in her solo career btw), although she's not quite an opera singer as she said herself (her specialty falls more into the field of chamber and sacred repertoire when it comes to classical music, though I can't help thinking that, had she become a full-time opera singer, she'd definitely be a superb, rare one with that powerful, dark, rich, dramatic, full tone in her voice, probably singing/playing roles of a 'spinto soprano', for she has several features of that voice type I think).
So, without further ado, back to NW in Tarja's era (I tried to make a selection as short as I could, really difficult to choose from their vast, outstanding repertoire lol, but there's so much more to explore as you go):
1. ua-cam.com/video/LAoUWU4Opto/v-deo.html .
Heavy! Tarja & Marko!😍 They rock so freaking amazing together!🤘
4. ua-cam.com/video/VSMCD39EIMc/v-deo.html . "Kuolema tekee taiteilijan", also from "End of an Era" dvd (and originally from "Once" as well). I put this ballad because it's simply beautiful and so very touching (plus, it's in finnish, their native language, and I love it!) The translation of the title is something like "Death makes an artist"
5. ua-cam.com/video/tFSqaLKXzwY/v-deo.html .
Thanks so much for the suggestions and awesome info Julia! Also thanks for subbing hope to hear from you again soon.

Floor and Henk with Nightwish live from Amsterdam is my favorite.
That is a great one.
To get a concept of how old this performance is. The young girls in the front... would be about in there 40s now.
😮
And that, as I'm fond of saying, is the night they fired the soprano.
Tarja Turunen the best ❤❤❤❤
She is opera singer
No
There is no best or not best lead singer in Nightwish.
I totally agree with you. They are an amazing band and have been lucky to have talent coming in and out of thr band. Amazing!
i love this verison, not because of Tarja... it is my favorite because of Marco :D
That’s a great reason. Marco is amazing!
