Man I love this Extraordinarily Hard Games series so much
TimeConsumer Wish he’d do a second season
Yes more of these. Way more of these
according to the game description:
"In the Star Year of 2038, the 4th world war on Earth destroyed all of mankind. The Starship Hector was thousands of light years away on an exploration mission. Upon their return to what is now ancient Earth, the Starship Hector found Earth to be desolate and inhabited by gruesome bio-mechanical Creatures."
We've got some catching up to do, interstellar space travel and two world wars that leave the earth ruled by bio-mechanical Creatures in 18 years maybe corona virus is the catalyst.
nathaniel011 "Star Year" might be anything in terms of calendar though. kept themselves a sneaky writing-backdoor.
sheeple?
"I just got bodied" ! LOL
Half disappointed this starship isn't in the form of a cat
The 2 and 5 minute modes are score rushes. Hudson made a bunch of games with that feature. It was really popular on TurboGrafx shooters.
There is an arcade shooter, Dangun Feveron, which has a hidden cat character.
Ryu should campaign for a sequel where his cat is a playable character
Shoot'em Up's are some of the absolute hardest games out there, particularly Bullet Hell shooters.
Kamphaer Ikaruga comes to mind... yeeeesh.
And Ikaruga is one of the easier shmups. It's still a classic though.
I am noooo good at shmups. Even Gradius and R-types hand me my ass.
Most Gradius and R-Type games are really difficult. If you want a medium difficulty shmup, try G.Darius for PS1 or R-Type Final for PS2.
This game is so hard, it's literally killing Ryu and turning him into a ghost. You can see right through his shirt.
I laughed too hard at this.
"It's definitely in your best interest to kill stuff" - Ryu playing a shoot'em up game
Digging this series so much. Always a surprise with you come up Ryu!🤘
Looks like Squidward's head haha
I've never heard about this game before this video, but this seems like a hidden gem of NES library. The difficulty is out of this world, but at least the game isn't very long and for once you actually benefit somehow from collecting points other than beating your high score that nobody cares about. In addition to the extra lifes you even have a health meter, so I'd say that this is challenging game but in a fair way since is all about reflexes and skill (even though it's easy to get bodied to instant death by hitting those suicide bombers). Great addition to your series, keep the groove!
After this video physical copies of this game will double in price thanks a lot Ryu 😂
doubtful
"i think we'll 10 episodes per season"
*Hasn't uploaded a new episode in 3 years*
This has become my favorite UA-cam channel
The 2minute and 5 minute modes were for Hudson's Japanese annual "Caravan Competitions" they held and are for warming up for the competition.
Ryu, you are my most favorite youtuber by now and I enjoy watching your videos everytime
That was absolutely ruthless.
Love the quote in the thumbnail xD
Came here for Hector.
Not disappointed.
the game over music is awesome. damn.
I'm late getting around to watching this content ( so busy watching ryu, carl, barb and poo play mm2) but I am lovvvving it now!
Blaster Masteeeeer.
You get extra lives at 200,000, 500,000, and 1,000,000 points. You start with 2 extra lives and you can only have a maximum of 3 extra lives at a time. Each letter you find on the ground is worth 10,000 points. There are 2 letters for every sky view stage (1, 3, and 5). If you find all of the letters (H E C T O R) you get 1,000,000 points, automatically getting you all extra lives.
🎵He's the Angry Videogame... Ryukahr🎵
In case you're wondering what those 2-minute and 5-minute modes are, they are called "caravan stages". They were a signature feature of Hudson Soft shooters, designed for nation-wide competitions in Japan (with the stage being towed from town to town on a trailer, hence the name). Here is some footage from the actual competitions, complete with button-mashing techniques: ua-cam.com/video/KAFFCsVIcJc/v-deo.html
Awesome 9th episode of first season! Can't wait for the finally, hope it isn't a cliff hanger
The Adventures of Dino Riki.
On the bright side after playing and beating some of these games, you're going to have god tier gaming skills.
4:38 This thing heals you! :D
4:41 *dies*
Btw, love the scenery on your shirt x)
Squidward Tentacles faces. Lol
The side-scrolling/top-down perspective switch has me thinking of Blaster Master a bit...
Is that game as difficult as I remember? I recall it being almost unreasonably esoteric in the pre-internet days.
wow this looks brutal
Will you upload the video of you beating the game for those who doesn't like streams?
Any chance you can upload the SMM livestream from last friday? It would be greatly appreciated :D
GG baby 🐈
Looks like a really aggressive, pissed off Xevious.
The second boss looked like he had thosw whomp things from mario lol
Have you played Contra Hard Corps from Sega Genesis?
There's a hudson controller that says Hector '87 on it, and it was legal to use in Hudson's official tournaments for this game, but I'd recommend sticking with the standard controller because it feels for satisfying to beat it that way.
Time for a turbo controller, a beer, and a game genie. lol
Hutts just got to say I love your vids
Alright that's a top-down view of the Enterprise. Complete with nacelles and everything
I thought this was going to be a rom hack where your cat was the main character.
When I first saw who made this game I knew it was going to be a grind. Hudson Soft is the reason I can beat Wonder Boy on SMS but can't get past 6-3 on Adventure Island.
you are a gamer ryukahr
It was made for the Hudson Caravan tournaments in Japan. It had to be hard.
What's the song at the end of the video? Really digging Ryu's tunes.
That was "Danger" (normal boss music) from Secret of Mana.
Einhander was a particularly hard bullet hell from the PS1 era.
Back in the days the most important achievement was Hi-Scores, so these game modes make sense to me, some arcade competitive game mode tho
Good effort! History 3 you were dodging everything so well, until the kamikaz ship 🙃
14:54 - 14:58 is magic to the ears
Great series! Never heard of this game, but it looks crazy!
Good stuff, I hope you consider focusing on a specific console for each different season.
You ever beat this one? Would love to see the video when you do! This one ended far too soon for me lol! On that last level just before you died I was yelling at the screen hoping you'd shoot the horse/chess piece look thing to see if it's where you get your health in that level
You made it crazy far for such an intense game, gg!
Reminds me of Dragon Spirit... which you should play.
Just like TwinBee, i liked it a lot!
Those Hudson guys were pretty good at NES programming as this seems to run pretty smooth. So many NES games choke so hard when there's that much shit moving on the screen. I believe there was a significant hardware limitation with the NES on how many sprites it could draw.
4:55 - "Hard as fff... shit" lol
Wow, I;m just discovering this game
You should make a extraordinarily hard games vid about adventure island
"That thing Nipped me in the butt" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Damn thsi game expected us to have interstellar flight in 2038.. we better hurry things up
Use turbo controllers for games like this. We don't want you to have carpal tunnel.
Ali Kandır Turbo controllers are a myth
ChaosRocket what?
Ali Kandır If you think you remember using a Turbo controller that’s just a false memory. If you think you’ve seen them in UA-cam videos that’s just an optical illusion. They never existed, they’re a myth.
ChaosRocket so you are saying mandela effect?
Ali Kandır Yeah since so many people remember them I’m sure there’s a close parallel universe where they existed
It's like Lifeforce. That game was hard af.
i am gonna thump up just for playing this game
One of the first games I ever owned as a 6 year old kid
im reminded of asteroids on the original Atari
Wow. It's Raptor: Call of the Shadows on NES. It's ... almost identical!
This game totally reminds me of STINGER for the NES!!!!
Ending music? ( 030)
Well that was a shorter video than expected..but enjoyed it regardless!!
This section its about extraordynary old games or just coicidende?
Yeah, new video! thx
You got this original cartridge?
I would love to see you play the hardest game on SEGA "Chakan: The Forever Man"
people: THIS GAME IS SO HARD
Galaga: die in 1 hit
Ryu we want to watch you beat the games here.
I sometimes wonder what madman had to test these types of games
massive idiot i am 100% sure those games were made hard on purpose for arcade machines. The harder, the more money you spent playing
Can you move the spaceship?
Can you shoot?
Do enemies move in most erratic patterns whether intended or not?
Do enemies shoot?
Do you get fucked over by stupid things like touching the wall, literally dying in one hit?
Does it take forever to kill most enemies and it's not even possible to kill all of them because of spam and constant dodging needed?
Testing done lmao.
These old games are hard because they were not properly tested, lots of games from its time were developed and released without proper beta testing... that's why most old games are that way.
Love me some HudsonSoft.
I still think you need to play Legendary Wings.
Great game from my childhood. Couldn't beat the first stage without cheating. XD
Ryu just got bodied
Gotta play ikaruga. One of the hardest games ive played
Ryu, I would recommend you pick up a NES dogbone controller. They make playing NES games like this way easier.
Now Pepsiman 😃
Ricardo Reyes I concur
Be one with the cheese!
Maybe when they say history they are giving hector history tests and each time Ryu dies hector fails his test
I'd love to see you try out Demon's Crest on the snes, it's on the Wii u virtual console as well.
Every sunday! Love this series
I am suspicious that the powerup characters on the ground spell out "HECTOR." Maybe it yields a reward?
When you will continue with celeste???
Earthworm Jim for Season One Finale!
Did you try the Konami Code?
3:30 giant enemy crab
I think the letters on the ground spell out Hector
If you wanna have a good time getting bodied you should try Snake, Rattle, and Roll.
The boss at 13:00 is just a thwomp onix, right?
How about River City Ransom for nes?
as a fan of Platformers you should really try the indie game Dustforce Ryu, its honestly one of the best platformers i have ever played, just a shame noone really knows about it. i think you would love it!
I have nice relxing nes Game...Big Nose the Caveman... Also nice epizode
