Some great tips. We fish westernport. We are looking to use soft plastic as bait is expensive when you are on a pension. In westernport could you advise if you should drift using a drift sock? or anchor up? With the strong tide flow in w/port can you still use plastics? Are plastics Ok for whiting? Thank you, Brian C
@brian I too fish westernport. Caught fatties in sand using soft plastics, yet to try for snapper. Have a mate who uses plastics and he just swimms them in the current behind the boat with a running ball sinker to leader. Another mate swims them on his paternoster rig, so going to try both
How long does it take for the plastic to hit the bottom because there are some deep reefs but it's hard to get the plastic to the bottom
Takes a few minutes in 50-60m where we fish but if the snapper are feeding they're usually 20m off the bottom

I fish in New Zealand we almost always drift, we use a sea anchor, and cast ahead of the drift
Hi. Can you please specify your rod you use for the SP?
