IMPORTANT ADDED CONTEXT: A day before this video released Meta announced the first 2 Quest 3 exclusives. Batman Arkham VR & Alien VR. Both will be Quest 3 only. Meta is now finally going all in on a Quest 3 push.

if that batman game is anything like the one they did with iron man, then it will be more like a tech demo than an actual game
@@Skullpture1 nah we’ve already had a Batman game tech demo, it’s been so many years I doubt or at least they won’t do the same, hopefully this game has actual combat and not just detective work

@SongStudios yep, Facebook Marketplace usually has really good deals, sometimes it's a little sketchy or like with my encounter, the seller is late to showing up or changes the meeting place/time. Thats why used gives you good deals lmao the headache and lack of returns

I own both. Quest 3 is better in most ways and overall its superior. But the Quest 2 has better controller tracking, longer battery life, and a more comfortable face gasket. Quest 2 also has brighter displays, and less binocular lense overlap effect. Quest 3 still blows it away with the pancake lenses, much better speakers, hd haptics, passthrough quality, and processor speed and graphics.
I don’t think anyone should buy quest 2 now that quest 3 has pancake lenses. The old lenses on quest 2 will hurt your eyes.
Really is hard to go back to.

i have a quest 2 and my friend has a quest 3. i have tried his quest 3, and yeah the visuals are better, but not enough to really say you should buy it over the quest 2, the only thing that really seemed to be significantly better is the passthrough which i was really jealous about not having

If you are going to invest time into it and use it, there's no question. It's comparable to consoles, you can buy an older gen console for casual, console specific titles and whatever current jazz is supported but you'll inevitably either buy or be wishing you had the latest if you invest enough time.
I have both and the 3 is good, but not worth it if you’re on a tighter budget.

If your quest 2 controller tracking is spotty with fast movements use a higher voltage battery. That fixed the issue for me.

great video! I play less and less games on my Q2, but I use Wander a lot and bigscreen has replaced my TV for years now. The increased fov sounds great but I really think I'll be waiting for the 4, my Q2 is awesome for what I use it for. :]

Great breakdown. I got both at launch for less than half price as I saved up reward points from my credit card. I can definitively say that Quest 3 is a significant upgrade over the 2. It almost feels like the 2 is a prototype in comparison. I actually still have my Q2 and pop it on from time to time just to compare and it's like, how the hell did I daily drive this for 3 years, but ignorance in bliss. I'm not shitting on the Quest 2 as it was great, especially during the peak of the pandemic, but if you can afford the 3, just go with it. As mentioned, devs haven't even taken full advtanges of it yet since they have to make apps work on both for now. Super excited for the future of VR.
I bought my quest 3 in January and now with the games coming out for it specifically is making it a good investment for me!

I went with the quest 3 for me but I got a new quest 2 for my daughter, so we can play together. That's just how it goes tho. I had no way to tell if she would really like playing vr, but turns out she loves it
Thoughts on waiting for the quest 3s or whatever? Better to pull the trigger on the quest 2 now or wait and maybe get a better headset for only slightly more?

I have the original Oculus Rift but wear glasses. In the 7-8 years of owning it I've barely used it due to my glasses not fitting inside comfortably. Do either of the Quests 2 or 3 fit better with glasses? Have Meta allowed room inside for glasses? Thank you.
I just want to say something about the controllers on the the quest anytime you hit the tracking ring your drift would get worst but due to the quest 3 not having those it’s pretty hard not to get drift but it’s still possible to get it 10:07
I don't plan to play any multiplayer(okay maybe vrchat and minecraft lol), but really want to draw in tilt brush, sculpt, play beat saber and generally include in my New Media university studies and gosh this video is perfect for such noobie in VR/MR/AR topic!! A few new games are Quest 3 only so it would be better to just get a Quest 3 plus you'll have better graphics and full colour pass through and it's way more comfortable and always gets new updates every month

I had a Quest 2 that, though I was really enthusiastic about it initially, I quickly grew to hate. The narrow field of view, poor ipd options, and overall uncomfortable way it set on my face led me to refer to it as my $400 headache machine. (I bought it when new) I even bought different facial foam and the pro strap, prescription lens addons, and it was still a rough experience. I have hope that the 3 would fix a lot of these issues, but I will need to demo it first.

I use my Quest 3 for all games but Beat Saber
My Quest 2 is pretty much just Beat Saber as I get pain holding the controller the standard way and I play using the claw method and sadly Quest 3 controllers you cant hold it in the claw method due to the sensors on the interface of the controller so your hand blocks them...
I still use my quest 2, and it is really worth it!
With my quest 3 I've had the same UI baggy stuff and controller tracking issues

Yesterday I played FNAF: Help Wanted for first time on my friend’s VR and I gotta say having foxy tackle me and seeing toy Bonnie walk towards me was surreal.
I've heard that on launch, the mic was worse than the Quest 2, but after the v62 patch, it got way better. Is it now better or the same as the Quest 2 mic?
I have had my quest two for almost 2 years now and I have been trying to save up for a quest three but with little progress
I bought a Quest 3 as my first headset and then bought my little sisters a Quest 2. I honestly think first time users should get the Q3 and see the full color passthrough and smooth menus. Just from setting up the Q2 for my sisters, I got a ton of lag that made me want to return the device. My advice to first time buyers: Get the Q3 for a proper first VR experience. If you don’t like it then Meta has full refunds on returns.

That's some good advice for people who don't have money to burn and who are new to vr and not sure if it's for them. The quest 2 is a great starting point at nearly a third of the price and you won't miss thaat much, besides pass through maybe. It can also hold you over while you wait it out for the quest 4 if you can since i'm sure the leap in specs, features and value will be a lot better
Edit: I didn't realise the quest 3 had such a big fov bump. The lenses and increased fov alone might be worth choosing the quest 3 over the quest 2. Even as a first time headset. That's not even considering slightly higher resolution, pass through and now exclusives. I might've got the quest 3 sooner had i known about the fov bump which is rarely ever mentioned anywhere

So, new Batman VR is coming exclusive to Quest 3.
This greatly fascinates me, as while it's clearly just a business decision, I wonder how they'll take full potential of the Quest 3 that even the Quest 2 isn't capable of, IF they do go that far.
I'm also curious how the gameplay and general game design will work for a Standalone VR headset. Hopefully better than Arkham VR, since that was more to look pretty.
i think the best option right now is to buy used quest2 and wait for quest 3 lite and then upgrade maybe... because where i live quest 3 starts at 600€ and you can get used quest2 for 120-140€
I have not had an issue with the ipd slider on any headset, it doesn't make a difference when I change it

I hate to see when people are complaining that the quest 3 is $499 for 128gb and $649 for 512 gb. where i live the 128gb version is around $640 and the 512 gb version is around $815... so the cheapest option here where i live is almost as expensive as the expensive option in USA...

No sign of the Quest 2 pricedrop yet in our gudsförgätna country, I suppose. Tbf it's best to sneak over into Finland for a quickie and buy it in Euro, if you get cheap tickets you will profit last I compared Elgiganten prices to their Finnish equivalent.
I have a Quest 3 and enjoy it very much. And yes you should go with a Quest 3 because games and support are going more for the Quest 3 now. I feel they are selling the Quest 2 head sets so low is because they are trying to get rid of this product line pretty soon.
There are supposed to be newer lower cost Quest 3 head sets which will take over instead of the Quest 2.
So this is just my opinion, but that is kind of the way I see Quest products are going.

Just buy the 2 caus it is good overall and quite cheap for the experience it gives.
If you are not short on money go for the 3 for the better image quality.
If you aim for pcvr the quest 3 will probably save you some frustration cause the quest 2 still gives jagged edges everywhere,
The mixed reality thing I see it as a gimmick right now, I wouldn't make any decisions based in that alone.

Have both and without watching, just get the Q3. It's leagues above the 2. They've finally gotten the graphics and immersion to a believable level where you truly get lost in the games and apps. No screen door affect, much sharper textures and higher fps. The quest games optimizer for $10 is a must, brings this things performance equal to high end pc vr setups, proven by the fact games like contractors vr virtually have zero players anymore on pcvr and quest 3 servers are filled. Nobody feels the need to play their pc anymore, because the graphics aren't much better now and virtually zero latency makes the experience so much better playing directly from the device.
