Some other videos about Affinity Designer have just music as the instructor works, thank you for telling us not only what you are doing, but what you are thinking about. Your pace of instruction is about right; it is fast enough to cover enough material to make the video worthwhile to watch, but slow enough to easily understand. Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce these videos.
Thank you for the time you take to create these very detailed, not overwhelming yet instructive tutorials. I was explaining to my 10yr old boy how I understand how he sees time lapse videos are cool & showed him the BENEFIT of watching a video like yours is. Big thank you again. vs t
W.o.w I'm amazed by this "Drawing in vectors" and adjusting individual points. I'm currently subscribed to Photoshop, but knowing this - i'll probably switch to affinity
Illustrator has way more options and features than Affinity, but I feel like Illustrator is a bit bloated and heavy. Affinity is way faster, lighter, and easy to use. Definitely a good choice
Hi thanks for the explainations. I have a little problem: when I'm creating a shape in Illustrator, with the pen tool I can draw above the curves and so I can modify my curve or extend it. In affinity it automaticly creates a new curve. Is there an option to change that ? Thanks
Do you frequently use the Pencil tool in your design process? It is supposed to give off a handmade feel, but as far as I know most of the hand drawn, doodle style vectors are done by drawing on paper first, scan, and then tracing them with the Pen tool. I've been wondering if the Pencil tool really has a permanent place in a designer's workflow.
If you continue watching the playlist, I showed my process on how I convert a sketch to vector. I usually don't sketch with the pencil tool, and I use it only to trace complicated sections.
how do you change the default pencil brush type? if i change the brush stroke on the right hand panel. as soon as i start drawing. it defaults back to the round basic brush
Is there a way of preventing a new layer every time you make a stroke? And a way of it not automatically highlighting editing points after every stroke too? I'm quite frustrated of having to work round this.
The pencil tool still lacks a lot vs the adobe illustrator pencil tool. Like closing an object by itself when you finish where you start, or reshape by drawing on top of the line you create just before. I need to use short cus all over to do this in designer. I hope they give the pencil tool a update soon. If it stays like it is, i can not move away from illustrator.
Hi Alessandro, I am using a Wacom Intuos tablet, too and if I draw with the pencil tool with the cursor, it's drawing exactly where I draw. Now if I use the tablet, it's always drawing a straight line. Can't find any options to change that. Can you please help me? Thanks a lot!

Thank you so much for this wonderful comment.
I'm really happy to know that my tutorials are easy to follow and helpful for others.
Cheers
I agree completely. : )

Thanks for watching :D
Excellent video, very informative and fun to watch. Thank you for your wonderful teaching style I have subscribed to your channel!
Thank you so much and welcome to the community!
I am learning graphic design by my self. And the first software I use is Affinity Designer. Is Affinity better than Illustrator? Thank you

Hello can you do a tutorial with drawing a simple art with the pencil tool only for people having trouble with the pen tool? Thanks
Check the videos about the Turnip Man. I use different tools to create a character

I'm late but, thanks a million!! Great info, clearly presented!
Also one with the brush tool, I find a lot of Illustrator tutorials but the pencil and brush does not work the same.

That's the way vector layers work. You can switch to a pixel layer if you need to have that type of behavior.
Hi you can place your first curve in a group and then subsequent tools will be in that group. think of groups as 'layers'
i am curious to know if this would work on the affinity photo side as well .....
Affinity Photo is more pixel-oriented, I'm not sure it has the same vector options as Designer.
I'll take a look and let you know.

Just waiting for you to say "MY WIFE!" I bet you can do a killer Borat impression! Thank you for the great video!
I've never seen Borat :P
Check it out if you are interested in a good laugh! Wishing you great gains this week!
Can the pressure of the pencil also be applied for opacity
+Michael M Not that I know of, I'll take a look tomorrow when I wake up and see it there's an option for that

It's definitely a young software and it will see may improvements I'm sure.
Cheers
Say I trace a face with my pencil tool. I group everything together. Now I want to fill it in will color. It wont let me fill in the whole face.
So, why does nobody who posts videos about using graphics tablets with the software actually mention how to set up the tablet with software?
Because we're all bad people and we hate sharing our secrets.
Shame it's not really vector. All of it is rasterized and prints come out pixelated when resized.
What a lie.
too few likes in my opinion...
