Yep, job one was to remove all Adobe apps from my computer, and then I found my way here immediately after that. Sad thing is that I'd been using Adobe products for 30 years, ever since Adobe bought out Aldus PageMaker and turned it into InDesign. For much of that time, I had a high opinion of Adobe, but they started losing their way when they went to a subscription model, and then this latest 'terms of service disaster' was the last straw for me. Over the years, if you include private purchases I've made for my home systems plus orders I've made for companies I've worked for, I've been responsible for roughly $200K of software purchases from Adobe. I know that's still small potatoes in terms of big corporations, but it's certainly more than the average private individual. And if Adobe can take me -- someone who sang their praises passionately for years and who enthusiastically supported that amount of purchasing -- and trash my relationship with them to the point of me never wanting to hear the name "Adobe" again, that's pretty impressive in terms of corporate self-immolation. Hope to see them go bankrupt due to their arrogant stupidity.
Nick you are a huge inspiration.. i started with inkscape in 2017 and i followed your videos..Now i use affinity designer and still follow your videos Thank you teacher.
I just signed up for your Master Class, because: 1. The material is well organized for learning; 2. Bargain price; and, 3. Your voice is super easy to listen to. 😃 Thanks!
Excellent video! People keep forgetting that AD is a 2in1 program and not just a cheaper Adobe Illustrator alternative. The persona-based interface is great, after you get used to it it's hard to go back.
this video should have a million views at least... this is the most concise breakdown of a program ive seen. coming from using adobe for way too long. this for sure helps me understand the direction that Affinity is going with this version. thanks.
I’m new to the whole shirt designing business, but this video alone took away my fear of not being able to retain info correctly. I know I can go back and forth on videos but I’m more of a “teach me something step by step clearly and I’ll do it” So thank you. I will definitely watch your other videos
Affinity feels like home. It's so much more intuitive and pleasant to use than Illustrator. When you open Affinity, it invites you to create something.
This is my first time watching your videos. That small bird you show in your video, I “resigned” it in procreate. I like the colors on the bird ❤😊 thank you for a wonderful video.
I opened a full (more than 100 Layers) AI file in Affinity 2.5.2! Lets see if I can finish this project in Affinity! It did affect the fonts,(easy to fix) but the gradients look amazing, keeping the effects I used in Adobe. The jpegs are good too!
I know what it does already. I need to know if it opens up Illustrator .AI, EPS, TIF and SVG files on the iPad version. Adobe has been ripping me off for the past two years.
How does it compare to krita, when it comes to drawing specifically, I'm ready to buy affinity, but i don't know if it's a good software for just regular drawings
Hey I'm considering adopting the Affinity software, is there any reason to get Affinity Photo? Can the pixel persona in Designer handle most of the things? Asking with interest mainly in digital painting/sketching
The Pixel Persona can do a lot but it can’t do everything Photo can do. Photo has more filters and transformation effects that work on pixel-based images. If all you need is basic edits (removing backgrounds, cropping, etc.) Designer can handle most of that.
I've been using Adobe for years, but I'm going to cancel my subscription because it's becoming too expensive. Do you recommend this program? I heard it can also function as an Illustrator.
After 2 or 3 months I got affinity when version was 1.19 I cut adobe, honestly I don't care for AI, I love pure image not something is not mine or my creation, why did I cut adobe just like that, well, at the place I work I took some pictures and I was in the need to stitch or create a panorama picture from 5 pictures, adobe fail, fail, fail 5 times, I open affinity photo, wow, the first time I got a perfect photo, adobe created a stitch with one person with 3 eyes and empty space on top, merge bad several times, NOT AFFINITY, I said, no way, but the proof was there, next day I cut adobe first time in the morning, good bye garbage, I paid too much already.
There's a big difference between illustrator and Photoshop, which has been around for as long as anyone can remember, and a sub $100 program with a one time purchase.

It's the only graphic design app i use. It rules the universe. 😀
Affinity feels like home. It's so much more intuitive and pleasant to use than Illustrator. When you open Affinity, it invites you to create something.
I have ipad so it will be good to work with this app as a graphic designer
Is it the closest thing to Fireworks? I've been using Fireworks all these years and Adobe is being terrible lately, so I'm looking to finally switch.
f rjf
It rules nothing cause not a single agency I know uses it. Without adobe, I dont even need to apply.
i Just got it as an option from Photoshop, and does sound very cool and usefull!! thanks a lot for this video, i'll definetly watch more!!
One great addition to this sofware would be a set of smart connectors to connect shapes and text boxes so we could easily create flowcharts.

Very nice 5 minute intro! Subscribed immediately. Thank you!
thank you for the super clear explanation. I'm adobe user that wants to try on affinity and I find this super useful.
I remember how excited everyone was when we discovered Microsoft Paint with Windows 3.1.
Brilliant and concise summation. Just making the switch now. Many thanks!

What’s not to like about Affinity? Quality, no subscription, affordable, and friendly to use
Great video, very helpful and demonstrative, thank you!
best program switch ive ever made
Informative, thank you

How do I find the master class? Is the class for a complete beginner.
hey, is the masterclass up to date with the latest versions?
Yes, I update the content regularly
I do have both affinity pjito and designer but i dont really use designer just bcoz it dont have photo to vector trace/convert option
I know what it does already. I need to know if it opens up Illustrator .AI, EPS, TIF and SVG files on the iPad version. Adobe has been ripping me off for the past two years.
I just opened a full AI file in Affinity Design, but this is the New 2.5.2 version, so lets see if I can finish this project with Affinity 2.5.2
Can you please use a plosive filter next video! Maybe you've fixed maybe not but just in case I thought I'd say.
Apologies for that. I've improved my audio since this upload.
❤
Miss image trace feature off illustrator though… only thing i miss.
How does it compare to krita, when it comes to drawing specifically, I'm ready to buy affinity, but i don't know if it's a good software for just regular drawings
Krita is more like Affinity Photo than Designer. Photo is pixel-based like Krita is so it’s better for drawing and brushing.
Can I edit Adobe designs on Affinity?

Where's the eraser button ?
So Affinity designer is similar like photoshop?you also can do tubnails?
How much is it ?
I think around 50 to 60 dollars
As an AI User I want to know is there Image Tracing in affinity designer
so I can convert png image to a vector ?
There isn't
Not at the moment. If you have Inkscape though (free and open source) the image tracing is as good as any other.

Affinity is a good basic app but Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are way more powerful
What do you mean by powerful?
