Thanks for the tips Mark, I completely forgot about using the "Rubber band mode", very useful! If I may add one more tip to do with nodes that I use a lot: If you want to center a node between two other nodes: - Add the node anywhere on the curve between the other two --> select all three --> click on the "alignment" tool in the top toolbar and choose space horizontally and space vertically. Unfortunately it only works on a straight line, not a curved one. Hope someone find this useful!
Great tips once again. Some other things I find useful: - Press shift while dragging the handle to constrain the direction to 90 degree increments - While using the node mode, you can also press CTRL (on a Mac) to delete a segment of the line - While drawing the shape, you can use the undo to go back a step (or more, if you prefer) - In the Node mode, you can delete a handle you have drawn by pressing CMD + ALT (Mac) and clicking on a handle. You can also use this to create a shap corner when pressing a point. Building up on this, you could do a video on the snapping functions in the pen tool and what they do. I find these can be very useful, but not very straightforward which button does what.
You are not wrong, as new user, pen tool has been a little confusing. Thank you for your clear explanation and examples. It makes learning new software much less frustrating. Have a great day
This was very helpful! Although I’ve been using Affinity Designer (former Illustrator user and dumped Adobe when they became subscription) I learned a couple of things I wasn’t aware of! I’m actually finding Affinity Apps much more enjoyable and easier to use. I don’t miss Adobe at all! Thank you for this video and many others that you have shared - I’m not finished catching up, but I will be watching more as I have time! I hope your channel gets more exposure, it’s really well done and I so appreciate what you are doing!

Affinity does a FANTASTIC job of making you buy all of there applications just to get the tools you need, like PENCIL IN AFFINITY PHOTO- not there.
