The craftsmanship amazes me every time I watch your videos. I love these mid 60's Impalas and you are doing and incredible restoration. The idea of the restoring the plug welds to resemble resistant welds is very impressive.
Hi Mr. Robert, this is my absolute favorite project you are currently doing. Also I have sent you an email (the last time it ended up in your spam mail file) concerning my newest project, a 1964 c-10 needing some roof, and rear window work. Thanks in advance.
Been following ALL your restorations...I'm learning as much as I possibly can...building a 1964 impala ss and a 1962 impala...great information..appreciate you brother
Excellent video. I like the way you explain tools and usage. I have a 63 Biscayne 2Dr that needs a new quarter and wheel housing. I'll be watching this many times. Thanks
7:59 for that sandable primer, as well as other products that you use, if you set up an affiliate program with a vendor, like Amazon, we could buy the products that you use, and you get a referral amount. Just a suggestion. Great video as always!
Oh man you do incredible work brother thank you so much for bringing us along for this journey. I have been learning so much brother I am so excited to apply what I have learned from you onto my own 62 impala and my chevelle and Saratoga. You rock man
Hey Robert, I've been following from the start and I do so appreciate all that you've shared with us, I am using your techniques and it is really helpful to see the actual products that you use. I am still hoping to see how you finish up the front rocker extensions to the lower cowl sides (where the front fender heel mounts go). It's the worst area on my 61 bubbletop.
Hi Robert: I'm loving the '62 Impala videos. I'm in the middle of a '62 Bel Air project and my buddy and metal man that's doing the work is checking out your videos for guidance! What paint products do you like to use to duplicate the gray/white spatter finish in the trunk for the '62 cars? Thank you. Keith
I use PPG product, for the trunk spatter I make my own but I know there are companies like Eastwood and I think SEM making trunk spatter in aerosol. Thanks for following !
Do you have the ss seats for that car? I need a favor. If possible can you measure the top part of bucket seat back width and the widest part of the bottom to see if I have the correct buckets. Thanks and continue the great work
I have so enjoyed this video series, and can’t wait for the next. Is that the original frame or did you go with a donor? How do you find the replacement panels compared to the original for thickness and detail rust not included. Cheers
Yes that is the original frame, the thing about metal, old vs new is that in the past as with everything, it was about quality and I am speaking to the purity of the metal itself.... now with all of the recycling, low quality materials, etc the properties in the metals that are produced can't compare with the older higher quality materials used..... Thanks for watching !
Hey man I have another question. Did you test fit the trunk in prior to welding the quarter in? I have both quarters sheet metal screwed in on mine and at the taillight side the trunk opening gets tight with the trunk in. I’m wondering if each quarter panel has to be an equal distance from the center of the trunk. I’m glad I checked before welding everything in. I was just assuming because everything was fitting that the trunk was gonna fit but the spacing gets really tight closer to the tail lights.
Nice work man. Question. On the rear deck lid to quarter panel on the top side of that flange you were punching holes to plug weld (beginning of video) what did you do along that outer seam? You mentioned you were going to plug weld the flange that sits below inside the trunk but on top is what I’m curious about. Do you run a weld bead across? Bondo? I wanna say stock it comes welded.
@@guzzifabrication3448 is that specific for the 62? Application I’m referring to is for a 64. Mine had a bead which was ground down on each end. I was just assuming that was factory. Not on the under side but on the top side from window seal to trunk weather channel.
awesome video brother
Thanks !
Wow ! I have never seen a shop show this type of quality work ! usually it's all bondo and primer. Good job guys.
I really focus on quality, thank you for the compliment !
You do a really nice job making aftermarket panels look as good as they possibly can. It’s a great looking car!

The frames have so much flex on these cars, when putting the quarters on you have many jacks keeping it level ?
THanks for the comment, the car frame was supported in key areas, time stamp 11:25 the door gap wouldn't be this nice if the body was twisted.

Yes I fitted the trunk before fully welding in the quarters, that rear area can get tricky !
@@guzzifabrication3448 absolutely. I’m praying to the lord above you do a video on it and I’m not even a religious man. lol

Nothing goes in that same from the factory it's tacked on the ends with brass and resistance welded on that flange, that's all

How much does a job like this go for
The first question should always be.... what level of quality is the shop performing?
Looking for full quarter panel for 62 impala
Classic Industries
Basically 70% of the car is all new and 30% is original.
Yep....
